"KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Police found such a small amount of crack cocaine in James V. Taylor’s car that investigators described it as unweighable. It was enough for a 15-year prison sentence in Missouri, where the courts make an enormous distinction between crack and powder cocaine."

This clearly makes sense if you look into it, we also need legislation that ensures that crack users can be charged for conspiracy to buy baking soda so they don't fuck up our good white peoples' coke!

thats so fucking ridiculous. they wont wash out a stoners pipe and weigh the active drugs in it, its so fucking unfair to do it to a crackhead. ive smoked crack, and i enjoyed it but ive only done it 3 times now, and i dont feel urged to do it again since i think snorting regular coke is more enjoyable, which i still only do 1-3 times a year. i love drugs and ive had my issues, but locking me up sure as shit wont help me out or make me any better of a person.

I just tried to type "omg" I somehow typed out "Okay." I think my brain has gone to mush. Anyway, I meant to say this just added to my laugh attack and that yeah idk how the hell they aren't able to weigh it. I'm sure one of my scales could fucking weigh it, how do they even know it was crack if it is a fucking grain of sand.

No, crack and freebase cocaine are 2 different things. You need ether and KOH and a separatory funnel and (ideally) a distillation column to isolate freebase. Crack, on the other hand, just involves bicarbonate and drying.

In those old reels with Richard Pryor talking about base, he's talking about freebase I think.
 
Yes that would be correct, and very technical as well, there is more than 1 way to freebase crack.
 
So do the laws that lead to super-illegality refer to crack or to any non-protonated form of cocaine?
 
Im pretty fucking sure i could weight it using a aquintences scale. So if no bastard down there can manage to do the job i shall be happy to be flown in for a fee of $50 grand of course plus $1000 a hour so i can weigh then smoke this unweighable piece of crack.

The world is a safer place indeed now that this criminal is off the streets for a piece of rock that is probably less then what youd get if you scraped the walls in my basement.
 
Playing Devil's advocate perhaps there was a very, very small amount and most or all of it was used during testing to confirm it was cocaine? They were just getting residue and say half a gram or under but I agree that it still sounds really weak.

The freebase/crack thing; when some people say freebase they mean coke base made such that there isn't baking soda included in the end product and there aren't necessarily rocks that look like crack. I am fairly sure cocaine base in any granularity or formulation carries the same sentences under the law in the USA although I am not sure if police would be able to distinguish between freebase powder and the HCl powder people sniff on sight or if they even would run tests on it to show that it was base and not cocaine HCl salt. Watching cops the police so often guess wrong when they see drugs in a powder or rock form, it's sadly funny.

I think if marijuana was a 'bigger bust' for police they might add a possession charge for resin inside of a piece of paraphernalia. I believe similar heroin or meth traces would be treated the same as these coke base traces. I recall reading in the past few months that someone in the USA was charged and convicted/took a plea for possession of the meth-containing water in a water pipe used for smoking meth, so this kind of thing does happen.
 
My bad for thinking crack would be handled differently than base. The controlled substances act just says "cocaine base" which just about nullifies any chances at creativity.

Which sucks cuz I love smoking coke. But weird in Miami people get busted all the time with rocks and they're out the next day. If they all were to get 5-10 year minimum sentences we'd need prisons the size of Olympus Mons.
