Opioids Question about dilaudid tolerance

I recently acquired a dilaudid 8mg. I have never tried hydromorphone before but I have experience with oxycodone, hydrocodone, codeine, morphine and methadone. I actually overdosed when I tried methadone and because of that I get anxious sometimes on opioids if I'm not 100% confident that I'm not taking a dangerous level of whatever opioid I'm on. I want to enjoy my dilaudid so hopefully you guys can give me a clear definitive answer of a safe amount to take for me.
I usually insuffalate between 15 and 35 mg of oxy to feel good. I don't like nodding out or anything due to my past experiences. Anyway what would be a good amount of the dilaudid to snort if that is my usual dosing for oxy? Not sure if it will help anymore but if I take percocets or vicodin ill usually swallow 25 to 40 mg, obviously on the lower end for oxy and higher end for vicodin.
My friend said in his opinion blowing the whole 8mg dilaudid is about the same as blowing 40mg oxy. Given that info I was thinking that snorting about 6mg would be good for me, anyone agree?

One other thing that always scares me when trying new opioids is that I'm allergic to codeine, so does anyone know if people that are allergic to codeine have a good chance of being allergic to hydromorphone? Another thing I've been wondering about for a while is if opium has a lot of codeine in it, I'm about 90% sure I tried opium after I had an allergic reaction to codeine and I didn't get any allergy symptoms. So does anyone know if I should have had allergy symptoms from smoking the opium? Because I just can't remember which one came first the allergy attack or the opium because they were both a long time ago.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

I'm not 100% sure about this, but I know someone will correct me soon enough if I'm wrong. I think codeine turns into morphine when it hits the liver. If that is true, hydromorphone is also essentially morphine which is dilauded. If you are allergic to codeine I would lean towards not taking the dilauded. Just wait until someone clears it up before you go have yourself an allergic reaction. I guess another possibility, this is also pure speculation, is that you are allergic to some specific metabolite of codeine. Either way just to be cautious, I would not take it if i were you. If you are going to anyway have a friend around to help you just in case.

rail half of one and chill out, wait like 45 mins, if you feel you can take the other half go for it.

no if you are allergic to codien hydromorphone will not affect you in that way (i told the docs before my surgery that im allergic to codiene and morphine strictly because i knew the next thing is dilaudid)
 
split it into three lines. and blow on every ten minutes... Even tho the only way to do dillys is to slame it lol. If you dont already iv tho dont start
 
Wait let me get this straight - you have ONE 8mg dilaudid, as in one pill, and you started a thread because you're worried that this ONE pill might do you in?

I don't even know HOW someone could kill themselves with one dilly.

Maybe if you used a shotgun as the delivery vehicle? You know, like duct tape the pill to a bullet and THEN fire it into a vein.

Other than that, I just don't see how it's even possible.

ha ha, I tell them at the hospital I am allergic to Tylenol so they go straight to the Dilaudid! lol

OP::if you take Vicodin, (hydrocodone) it metabolizes into hydromorphone (dilaudid) in the liver, so I wouldn't worry about a reaction. Also Dilaudid has a super low bio availablity rate.....orally is less than 20%, and snorting is about 75%. If you have any kind of opiate tolerance, which it sounds like you do, 8mg is a pretty low dose if snorted. If you're worried, as another mentioned, do half, and 20-30 minutes later do the other half.

As someone else said, the only real way to get the full effect of Hydro is by injecting it, but prepare to fall in love!!8o

yo big strong man with the opiate tolerance... good for you... a normal person could get fucked from 8mg dilly if they had no tolerance. better to play it safe yo this is harm reduction.
 
OP...your not gonna die....thats fucking rediculous and sounds like a ploy for attention....hydromorphone and codeine are two completely different chemicals.....therefeore you have nor reason to believe you will be allergic to hydromophone any more than you would be allergic to ground beef, or plastic forks.

This kind of statement always blows me away. FIRST, be PATIENT!!!! People arent sitting here waiting for a ? to pop up. Secondly, if you started a thread to ask for advice because you are worried, then fucking WAIT for the damn advice. If you're that impatient that you cannot wait for a reply, then you take your chances.

Are you going to die from one dilly with a mod opiate tolerance? NO.

With your opiate experience/tolerance, you probably could easily rail the whole 8mg for a nice high, but like others said, split it up into 3 lines and start slow, you can always re-dose, but you cannot "un-dose"!

I dont think he was worried about dying from overdose....rather from an allergic reacation, he mentioned he was allergic to codeine and wondered if that would mean he was allergic to dilaudid.....but I told him that since they are two different chemicals, chances are he wont be allergic.
 
I took it as he was worried about an OD based on this comment he made:

yes but then he went on to say that he was told that 8 mg of dilaudid was equal to about 40 mg oxy therefore it wouldnt even come close to an overdose....
Then he started talking about his allergies..... and saying that he was scared to take new opiates because he was allergic to codeine meaning he could possibly be fearing for his life..
 
He's real excited but real scared!!! Probably the strongest opiate he ever had and he was dying for the green light.

Give a guy a break?...WTF is that supposed to mean?...im the one who told the guy he had nothing to worry about and he should go ahead and take the fucking drugs.....how do you come across telling me to give a guy a break when all I was doing was helping him out?
 
Either know exactly what your talking about before you post it, or clarify exactly what you mean or who you are talking to when you do choose to post.

It makes things run alot smoother.
 
I apologize for my impatience but as someone said I was eagerly waiting for the green light, but I'm not sure why anyone got mad in this thread, my impatience shouldn't affect any of you. And thank you for the info about vicodin being metabolized to hydromorphone in the liver, thaat was my green light because I wasn't that scared of overdosing only of having an allergic reaction, obviously I was still concerned about the drugs strength hence the name of the threadd but it turns out the wwhole pill wwas pretty much the perfect amount to inssuffalate! So thanks to the people that helped and to the people that wanted to arrrgue and hate... Just chill out, its not like you've got a pill in front of you that you want but your not sure you can have! Haahaa
