Different opiates, different effects?

50mg of Hydrocodone gets me a good warm feeling buzz, and I get sleepy as hell..

80mg oxycontin (yes oxycontin, 80mg is alot for my tolerance) gets me feeling warm, lethargic but at the same time I CANT sleep. a part of my brain is lethargic while the other half is energized, I just cant sleep no matter how hard I try, i stay in bed for like 3 hours trying to sleep..
I also take mirtazapine which is supposed to make me sleep but the oxycontin is creating weird effects on me..

50mg hydrocodone (which you probably assume wont get me buzzed because i take 80mg oxycontin) it actually gets me feeling great and I can sleep like a baby.

I also have taken hydromorphine dilaudids 8mgs (railed, because when I eat it I get NO effects) it makes me feel great for only like 1 hour and I end up nodding for a while. I thought all the opiates work on the same receptors? yes or no?

Well opiates all do have affinity to the mu receptors. There are various other opioid receptors as well (delta, kappa) but the mu1 and mu2 receptors are mostly responsible for the analgesia, sedation and euphoria. The higher the affinity to the mu receptor the more potent the opioid.

Some opioids simply have different effects. FROM HOW I REACT, Hydrocodone produces more sedation than oxycodone but oxycodone is more euphoric and stimulating. Hydromorphone simply has a short duration and seems ineffective orally due to its low oral BA however when snorted or injected it produces a powerful and short rush.

physically, all opiates tend to give me similar feelings; mentally, the only thing that really varies is the euphoria.

anything weaker than morphine i can barely even feel.

typically with me, the codones tend to be the ones that give me the energy and wanna get up and clean.

the morphine, and morphones, tend to be more sedating to me.

and then with heroin it goes both ways, if I do just enough to get in what I call "juiced" stage, then I wanna clean and everything, but if I do a lot, I end up nodding out and everything.

I'd also like to point out how great 240mg of morphine shot up, 3 pinch hits through my bong, a menthol cigarette and a starbucks mocha frappuccino is.

hahhah "makes me want to get up and clean" i do that alot with opiates man, i knew there is some stimulating effect to it.. i thought it was just a complete downer

Tramadol, OC, or Hydrocodone will make me litterally not want to leave work til it wears off!

well, since I've moved here I've only bought dope 3 times. mind you I got here in mid march, didn't know anyone for a while at first, then I got cancer and have been dealing with that, and my opiate buzz has been settled with the morphine I get from this. but yes, the tar is far much cheaper than the powder I was getting in st. louis. for the price of a gram of tar here that lasts me like 4 days, would be the amount I'd spend on one shot of powder in st. louis.

I'm sorry that you have cancer. I've known many people who've had it and they went through an awful lot controlling it.
