I have been going to a methadone clinic for about six weeks now. I'm already at 120mgs and I'm just now begining to get any sort of real relief. Although, my dose is still not even holding me until I go to bed at nigh around eleven. I feel like complete shit in the morning until about an hour after I dose. I have told the nurse this and I have been at 120mgs for twelve days. on the weekends I have to dose at 7:30 am so my dose wears off around 7:00 pm. I usually dose at 10:30 am so it will last until I try to go to bed. So the weekends are especially tough right now.
I am having to still by things off the street to get through some days. Given, I don't have to buy something everyday, I can tough it out usually during the week. But on the weekends I usually have to get something to make it through my 10 to 12 hour shifts at the restaurant I wait tables at.
I asked my counselor at the clinic I go to about split dosing and she said they had to quit doing split doses for some reason. Anyway, I have heard that is unusual, at my clinic anyway, for someone to be at 120mgs in a month. I was at 120mgs in four weeks and have almost been at it for two weeks because I failed a damn drug test and can't take my dose up until this monday when my clean drug test results come in. After that I can continue to go up 10mgs a day again. They have already said that I can go up, I just have to wait on the results for this drug test, which I passed 100% sure.
I really need some help and advice from anyone who knows what the are talking about or has been through this kind of thing. If I can't split dose, what dose will most likely hold me for close to 24 hours? I was taking lots of oxy and smoking a few fentanyl patches a day ( 10mg patches ). This is why they have let me take my dose up so rapidly. I know the concerns of being on high doses and I plan to be on methadone for the long term, so I don't want a lecture about trying not to take a high dose of methadone. Should I look for clinic that splits doses? Or do I just need to continue taking higher and higher doses of methadone until I reach one that holds me.
My clinic does not have a limit on the mgs you can take. I also will eventually get a weeks worth of take homes every week. So it is a great clinic and I don't want to change. I just really need some advice.
Thanks so much for listening and any help is greatly appreciated. I DO NOT WANT TO CONTINUE TO BUY OFF OF THE STREET!!!!
