Calls in Aus Social to merge with AusDD

Upon peering into Aus Social (for whatever reason i'm unsure) i noticed a thread by MazDan with an idea to merge Aus Social with AusDD.

Whilst i think this is a horrible idea and would likely be the death of both forums - i think it should be echoed around here.

We have a fairly strict policy of not allowing over-social banter to clutter up the place. Even our social ideas have been cut off at the head - so I can't see how these ideas would prove beneficial.

obviously - at present, the ausdd posters are far more active and involved in the direction of the forum - a social forum doesn't quite provide the level of involvement from the sidelines as our HR forum does.

Who agrees with me and who disagrees? i'd like to see the argument from both sides of the coin, both the social mob and our group.
 
i think a merge would be a great idea. and perhaps a change in rules too. To make it less strict. If u look at the EUDD they're a lot more relaxed over there. I'd like to see our AusDD goes towards that direction :)
 
headdah, i think you've not been around long enough to know this won't work.

People in AusDD in the early 00's were raided and arrested for the lax rules (known now as the infamous perth raids), after news of a house party became widespread with the address shared for a period of time. LE were able to organize and consequently raid a group of harmless party goers as a group of vile drug dealing filth in this ordeal.

This is only one reason why I think this is a bad idea, if you also look at the type of threads in Aus Social I think it becomes obvious that we don't need that kind of crap cluttering up the joint (I'm so happy today, part XIIV, case in point).
 
I do not like the idea of a merger.

I come here for discussion about drugs / harm minimisation. I don't want to have to search through events and other random discussions to find what I want. It's really not that hard to check both forums!

Also isn't there some rule about talking about either drugs OR events / clubs but not both at the same time? ie you shouldn't say you went to the "name of" club on the weekend and took bla many drugs? Won't merging the forums make this a more difficult rule to enforce?
 
A merger is a horrible idea.

If the people in Aus Social are unhappy about the state of their subforum then they can always come to AusDD
 
^ lol let's not start an us vs them war between the Australia & Asia sub-forums! Unless I can sell some "Team AusDD" T-shirts and turn a profit that is ;) =D <3
 
I don't think anyone who's active in either forum actually wants this to happen. And I'm fairly sure it was a joke MrIbis lol.
 
It was a joke Ibis, don't take it so personally. After so many years here, you can hardly expect me to take it seriously when people have a hissy fit over nothing and threaten to leave. In fact, threats or ultimatums of any kind are just about the worst way to make your point on anything.
 
as i did with the thread in the social i'm gonna pull the reigns on this one.

i'm in talks with both camps at the moment so hold on to your horse(s).
