So who likes benzos? El Benzo Threado Spectacularrrr 2nd Edition

I wouldn't expect much, benzos aren't amazingly recreational by themselves, and I find what recreational effects 'are' there are an acquired taste.

Start with 1/4 bar, will make you feel relaxed and probably tired, go from there.

I've always found benzo's to be of moderate recreational use. As said above, this doesn't apply to all.

I've got an on and off anxiety problem and benzo's have been a great temporary escape from this. Particularly good on Sundays ;) I think what makes it recreational for me is the relief is provides. Not so much a full blown euphoria, more of like a subtle 'everything will be ok' frame of mind.

^ If you are feeling impatient you could dissolve a 1/4 bar under your tongue, let it dissolve and you will be able to guage effects quicker to decide if you want/need to redose. I will warn you that xanax tastes quite bad sublingually.

There are many people sensitive to benzodiazepines who will get knocked around by small doses, but there are equally many not so sensitive. While I would be surprised if you felt no appreciable effects from .25mg I would be equally surprised if you found it a sufficient recreational dose. Best to start slow though because you can always take more.

From my personal experience when I wasn't tolerant to benzodiazepines at all I wouldn't notice any appreciable effects till abot .5-1mg and generally considered 1.5-2mg an optimal recreational dose.

Xanax is very non toxic and generally requires ridiculously large doses to cause death if it is being used on its own, but it causes blackouts very easily which can cause some unruly and regrettable behaviour which, more often than not, lands you up shit creek in one way or another.

It would be wise to avoid alcohol for the first time using a benzodiazepine, particularly a stronger one like xanax. If you feel you must indulge I suggest you do not exceed more than a few (2-4 YMMV) standard drinks. Benzo's mixed with alcohol can cause blackouts and unruly behaviour ridiculously easily.

I am not sure if you indulge in Mary Jane but personally I find excellent synergy between these two substances. If you overdo one or both you can expect strong sedative effects, although this is a fairly safe combination overall. I find it best to take a slightly larger than therapeutic dose of benzo and then smoke what you normally would to get stoned, without going overboard. It leads to a very relaxing and anxiety free stone that I think most long term smokers would appreciate greatly.

I find xanax particularly good for stimulant comedowns also, mainly because of the rapid onset. I always try to make sure I have benzos if I'm going to be using recreational stims.

^ I love valium more because I find it slightly less sedating so I do anything that needs to be done. I crashed out last night for the first time since thursday night after smoking 4-MAR and taking methylone. Felt rat shit when I first got in yesterday and valium fixed me right up. Woke up today and felt RATSHIT! Just 15mg of valium (Ihave a fair tolerance to benzo's so this isn't much) and 2 bongs and I am feeling pretty darn good.

I don't think there is a better hangover or comedown cure out there than marijuana and benzo's used at the correct doses.

^ Yeah like as soon as I got home I had valium and weed, instant relief, I didn't do the oxy for hours but it certainly helped any lingering shitnes saturday night. I only used valium and weed to alleviate my symptoms yesterday and it worked a treat.

^
I find opiates, like oxycodone for example to feel really euphoric on a stimulant comedown and certainly help with the shitty feeling. But they seem to extend the high, rather than make me pass out and sleep for 10 hours like benzos do, which is what I want when I'm crashing. Any other occasion though and opiates>benzos for sure.

Was reading this archived thread about Temazepam. And found this gem of a quote from Phase...

The horror stories abound. After 2-3 years on benzos, your body will smell differently, to the point where three showers a day won’t reduce the reaction of people towards you. They are sinister compounds if abused, but a bloody good relaxant for sore muscles if taken before bed.

I've been using Diazepam on and off for the last twelve months and I have noticed a smell that comes from my shoulders. It's a real manly, musky sort of smell and I put it down to the Testosterone treatment I'm on, but it could very well be from the benzos according to this. Anyone have any experience with this phenomenon?

at the moment i can't remember reading anything about body odor from benzo (ab)use but definitely notice that distinct musky, manly smell during wd's. i have read reports of people's odor taking a change for the worse from GHB abuse, another GABA drug. opiate wd's leave me pongy, of course, but nothing a shower and some deodorant won't fix...thankfully:D

. Caffeine can neutralize the effects of benzodiazepine tranquilizers such as diazepam (Valium®). Benzodiazepines act by enhancing the effect of GABA on GABAA receptors, whereas caffeine has an opposite effect by inhibiting GABA release

i don't know whether i've brought this up on BL before but has anyone else noticed caffeine killing benzo effects? a few strong coffees seemed to have brought my benzo buzzes (~50mg+) to a steaming halt for the most part over the last couple of weeks and actually had some anxiety as a result which was interesting.

^ When I've been on temazepam and needed to be more alert after a while a few coffees would do me good, so wouldn't surprise me to here. that. I hadn't read before though that caffeine inhibits GABA release, I'll have to look into it... is it an indirect or direct effect of caffeine?

I have been hitting the benzo's pretty hard lately, they really are a lovely class of drugs.

Heaps of mornings I pop a decent dose of diazepam and occassionally alprazolam and down it with a strong cup of coffee, I don't feel it "kills the high" but it does decrease sedating side effects. They are still as effective at relieving anxiety and just giving me that good benzo feeling. I do have a high tolerance to caffeine though, I have known some people to be really sensitive to caffeine/energy drinks so I can see how it would maybe kill the high for some.

well i like benzos.... a little too much evidently, id love to b able to controll my thoughts and body without them... right now that seems impossible, im gonna be starting to taper soon (i hope). its a love hate thing now i think about it.... i do love the feeling of relief, but hate the fact that i may well be once more addicted.....one would think one would learn the first time around:|

benzos.........
I gotta say a sheet of diaz in my mouth before i swallow it actually tastes pretty darn good.
I hated the new packaging design for valium, i still can't get used to it.

^ Clonazepam is definately the best tasting benzo I have encountered. I don't find brand name valium tastes too bad, but generic diazepam can taste fairly shitty. I can't recall a benzo that has made me cringe more when used sublingually than 2mg xanax bars.

I have been scripted diazepam for ages but always bough generic till I recently found out it's only like 60c more for brand name if you have a healthcare card (which I obviously do) when I first saw the box I thought it looked a bit odd at first but it never occurred to me the design had changed.

Indeed, I swallowed a 2mg xanax bar without water once, horrible taste, worse than mdxx/amphetamines IMO. 2mg clonazepam tabs taste sugary and sweet, definitely best tasting benzo I've had.
