I have been taking ambien on and off for awhile. I keep waking up to find my facebook peppered with comments that make no sense and I have no memory of posting. Also a friend told me I have been sleep walking and was caught trying to feed some imaginary fish. Also I was looking in my call log and text history and I had accidently called my ex girl friend and spilled my guts to her. I had a horrible feeling when I awoke the next day and when she text me back I thought why is she texting me? Then I checked and I called her first. I never would have done that. Does anyone else get these bizzarre effects with ambien?

only when i take 60mg or more. like all hypnotics if you take a high enoth dose short term amnesia is a sure thing and doing strange things is all so part of the package.

Totally, that's why I steer clear of those things. Take a pill, lay down , fall asleep then suddenly find myself in a random part of the house with a crazy call log and a trashed kitchen.
I stopped taking them before I ever sleep-drove , thank the gods.

OP,

You could try switching to zopiclone (Lunesta). Its just as effective as zolpidem imo, & may not have the sleepwalking side-effect on you.

The Z meds (Zopiclone/Ezopiclone Zolpidem, Zaleplone) have for many benen a God-sent medication that has transformed their lives as far as reintroducing normliawsed sleep patterns.

One other thing that can be said is that in some people, particiulalry when abused (mixed with alcohol, ignoring dose guidelines or using as a sedative after a speed-type binge)some very odd stuff can happen. I have twice sleep driven on Zopiclone (no abuse) - and fully amnesic (I had to be told the next day by riends that I had been round at their house!!!)

Usually very effective in normal usage, can be used to create very odd trips...in the interest of safety do not inject (most brands have microcellulose filller), don't drink and drive when on them, and beware retrograde amnesia that could see you finishing a packet in a few hours!!

Welcome to ambien. I know everyone else already said it, but whatever. I'd say statistically speaking, you're more likely to do something fucked up than not when taking recreational doses of zolpidem.

your most likely just taking way too much. you will get the same amnesia from benzos if you take too many. and dont mix it with alchohol or other cns depressants. very dangerous!

after some people got in a lot of trouble on ambien, the FDA mandated they add to their label of side effects the fact that it may cause sleepwalking, sleepeating, sleepdriving (pretty scary, it happened to me), sleeprape (i made that one up), etc. i believe it does this because it works on the GABA alpha-1 and alpha-5 subunits but does not have any effect on the acetylcholine neurotransmitter that is responsible for muscle relaxation/contraction, so your mind is asleep but your body is still basically awake, hence the reason it is a hypnotic.

i came to this idea based on logic, correct me if any of this is disinformation.

first night i was prescribed ambien (10mg) took one, lied down in bed. Next thing i remember is waking up in the morning completely refreshed. Checked the bottle, 3 extra pills missing.

Second night, same exact pattern.

Third night, remember taking one. Woke up with my sister sitting next to me and my face hurt like a mother fucker. Apparently i took like 15, drank some tequila, went jogging to cvs for ciggs in the snow (i dont smoke) chain smoked em all, and wiped out somewhere during the night and nearly bit my lip off.

Needless to say that was the last night i took ambien lol.

yeah, ambien is crazy like that. when i took it years ago, i would do all sorts of stuff (lots off driving - scary) and have no clue. i would go buy wierd stuff, try to cook stuff and almost burn my apartment down... its the - antero? or retro? - anterograde (i think) amnesia. i would take my meds and hang out "till they kicked in." well, i would apparently take more and have adventures that i will never know about. i finally got pretty freaked and told my doc that i had a problem (it was the first time i ever really entertained the notion of addiction, let alone admit it to someone). i was put back on it a couple years ago and i was fine - i took one pill and put my ass in bed. yeah, this is scary stuff and people dont think that crap like this can happen on a seemingly common, safe, widely prescribed drug.

Yeah I always lock up my phone if I have to take one. Also staying away from the computer is a good idea. I have said some really embaressing things on ambien. Which is why I prefer benzos.

ambien

yeah, i've done things while taking ambien such as eating in the middle of the night, talking on the phone etc. not very fun.:(

ambien

i actually did a tiger woods. Hoped in the car and hit something down the street. I guess i was on the side street and tapped a parked car. Don't remember.

yer crazy stuff happens for sure when ur floating around in the world of ambien, like sweetsurrender said their are loads of adventures you have on it but will never know about, probly for the best not knowing sum of them, i took 15 0ne night (only had the intention of taking 4) and the next day my neighbour had a very troubled look on his face and asked me if i was ok? i said yer im fine, why do you ask? well he said you were out in the garden last night mowing the grass in the dark with shaving foam on one side of your face.

mmm... not much i could say to that one, he now thinks im a total nutter, nothing like ambien to help with public relations. On the up side when i checked the back garden i found i'd done a pretty good job.

Hahaaa...^thats got to be one of the funniest posts I've seen on this forum=D

My advice if you're on a polydrug session that involves benzo's/Z drugs with alcohol is to lock yourself in the house & give a trustworthy friend your car keys & wallet...

I'm speaking from bitter experience here (tho thankfully I never drove my car (I think)....

lol
