    Welcome Guest!

Anyone else NOT enjoy clubbing/lights when rolling?

I'm almost 30 and at raves in this area I'm almost twice the age as everyone else. I echo the rolling at home sentiment: clothing is optional and the crowd and music is way better.

That said... there's something profoundly moving about sitting down in front of club speakers during a good drum & bass set.

I love both clubs and home use - both completely different experiences, both have pros and cons.

I much rather have a strobe going than a fancy light show though. Strobes and hard techno room full of smiling people - amazing :)

Clubs are for wankers. I have fun at big raves cause everyones just as fucked as me, but when I go to the avalon I always feel like its a popularity contest and the drunkin sluts and bro doushcebags are always killin my buzz

Avalon has great DJs, but you might want to check out Circus if you want to be around friendly people and others who are rolling.

I have actually seen people cry from getting light shows, LOL- I don't really get the extreme appeal. Lights and visuals are slightly more interesting on MDMA than while I've been drinking...but some people are obsessed with the light show thing.

There's something to be said about a good rave. Speakers that put out so much sound it vibrates your insides. And 100+ people all singing along to the cheesy rave anthems when the CheeseCore DJ comes on... it's just like any other concert. I go when a DJ I like is playing at a venue I like... sometimes. And light shows are okay sometimes. Sometimes it does nothing for me.

Still, no rave will ever beat a good mix of friends all connecting together at your haus sharing feelings, sensations and music with each other.

someone else before me mentioned that there is something to be said about a good rave.

Imagine a warehouse full of 1000 people from all walks of life, just about everyone is rolling face, everyone is in a great mood, not a single physical fight throughout the night. No alcohol being sold on the premesis.

That is something amazing.

I love rolling at raves, but i also love locking myself in my room with my girlfriend and going crazy with each other for 5 hours...

Something else that should be mentioned, the last girl i asked for a lightshow, I fell deeply in love with.... Not so much because of that but because i asked her to give me a light show, and then we ended up making out passionately at a party for like 2 hours. The next day i started texting her and we decided to see each other sober and see how we got along.

That was more than 5 months ago, she is the most amazing person i have ever met and i am in love with her. My sister was like "your going to eventually get the urge to cheat" given this is my first honestly long term relationship. She makes me not want anyone else. Why would i go cheat on someone for sex when she fufills any sexual request i make with enthusiasm. Beautiful, great personality, sexually adventurous, non judgemental, and its honestly hard to feel anything but love for her.

And it all started with a light show and a backrub.

Man, I love a good lightshow. They blow me up HARDCORE. But yeah, like Socalthizz said, it has to be at the peak otherwise it can be a little boring. And it has to be given by a good lightshow giver and a tight song all at the same time. And of course on really good pills.

Yeah, I can have just as much fun with lights and music in my own place (I have the speakers to match the clubs)

But it's the plur environment, and the kindred souls that really turn me toward a rave.

if u got the speakers to match a rave home rolling is cool, until the cops show up cause the music is toooooo loud (happens to me everytime). then there i am sweaty, crosseyed, pupil saucered "yea yea yeaing" the cops warning as i shut the door in his face. i gotta say though, 2 12' volfenhag woofers each taking 800 watts RMS not peak in a full sized SUV with leather seats is actually much much louder than any rave ive been too. if u cant see straight from the wooofers sober imagine rolling WHEWWWWW. i love woofers, hard hitting competition woofers.

find me at your peak, ill change your perception on lights.

I love clubbing while I am on. Easy I handle the enviorment very well I go with my group of freinds and we all pair up in twos and find two other girls to dance with and meet overall a great time expensive though since waters like 3.00 a bottle thats not big at all but a hell of a time none the less hasnt bored me yet and I have been doing such for this whole summer.

most of the time, no, i don't enjoy them. But I have had one or two instances when I was totally and absolutely floored by a good lightshow. Also, I usually enjoy watching poi or hula hoops, but thats as much for the art as the lights. Fire is also always fun.

When I'm on E, I have waaaaaay too much ADD to sit down for more than a minute. I'm constantly moving, meeting people, and dancing.

With that said, I LOVE to give light shows when I'm not rolling, I have a pair of gloves and an orbit, sometimes I'll just glove, sometimes I'll just orbit, but my best shows are when I'm glorbiting (gloves+orbit at the same time).

On LSD, I love the orbit because it makes some trippy patterns and it's not quite as bright as the gloves.

I'll link to a youtube video of me glorbiting later.

I am still in the process of learning how to change modes while gloving as u can see ^^^^. glorbiting sounds sweet, if i could glove, tun them off orbit and go back to gloving fast tbat wud be sweet!!!

If I want to hide my orbit lights so that I can do just gloves, I just keep my thumbs tied into the strings of my orbit and put the orbit behind my head/neck so that I can transfer between glorbiting and just gloving. When I'm ready to pull the orbit back out, it's already tied to my thumbs so I just whip it around my head and I'm back to glorbiting!

Changing between modes while giving glove shows is kind of a huge drag and is more work than it's worth, and usually ends up looking somewhat awkward to the viewer. IMHO, I think it's better to just learn moves with one set pattern for each of your lights. For example, I use Inova lights and keep my index thru pinky fingers on mode 2 (low power) while my thumbs are on mode 1 (high power/ribbon). The Inovas turn themselves off after 4 minutes if they're on mode 1, but 4 minutes is a LONG lightshow anyways :)

yea 4 mintues is pretty much my show, see my problem is all my inovas are white....so i gotta click on my micro dots (i double stack emm) to get some colors. what i usally do is come up with one hand, while hiding the other behind my back, i finger roll in place with the visible hand and quickly switch on the microdots and finger roll that hand to about viewers face while finger rolling the other behing my back to get those micros going. i usally do that after about 2-3 minutes. i really wish i had gotten my bulbs but im jsut not trytingto spend money, if i wait my buddy will give me colored bulbs wen i see him next. since my inovas are all white i cant use mode 1 because its soooo fucking bright it drowns out low power making just a bright glowing blob that has dots folling it...finger rolls are my thing, i have them all down perfectly and i noticed on mode 2 it doesnt look as good as wen i got a few ribbons going with the low power. i also am very afraid to mod my novas cause i dont want them to get fucked up, i did mod all my micros tho no problem.. but they were cheap and im 80 bucks into novas i dont want to fuck up. do u happen to know how long inovas batterys last? 10-20 hours right? and 5 dollars for 2 batteries?...so basically i can get 2 poss 3 raves per battery set?

I went to Radio Shack, bought 2 of each color LED that I liked (cost less than $15 total), and then I clipped the stems on each LED using nailclippers to the correct length and replaced the white LEDs. Trust me, Inovas are very durable and so are LEDs, it's a very hard process to fuck up. I even modify my Photon Freedoms from time to time, it's not a big deal.

Don't buy your batteries from Radioshack or any physical store though, get the correct batteries in bulk from a supplier such as liquidemotions or orbit light show, they're much cheaper. Radio Shack charges you a left nut for batteries so I'd avoid them.

Depending on which mode you use, the batteries will last 8-16 hours from my experience. After that, the lights begin to get dim and even though the Inovas work, they just don't look as nice :P

Edit: I should probably mention that MOST yellow LED's use a different voltage than most other color LEDs. While most LEDs use two CR2016 batteries, yellow LEDs typically use a single CR2032 battery. I used to use 2 CR2016 batteries in my yellow Inova then I noticed in a Dotz light that it had a CR2032 battery. I swapped it into my Inova and the yellow was MUCH brighter.

I've done e at clubs and enjoy it for half an hour or so, but almost always within that time frame I'm outta there. Twice I've stayed the whole night (back in the early days of doing it!) but I wanna talk to my friends and be comfy and warm and at a club it's too loud to talk, too cold on the patio, too crowded inside and I'm usually wearing not-so-comfortable going-out clothes so I always end up going home early with whoever I'm rolling with, putting on pj pants, curling up in a blanket on the living room couch/floor and having our own amazing party with just us!

I sort of understand the appeal of flashing lights and sensory overload but it doesn't do it for me...I'd waaay rather cuddle up and put on my own tunes and have immediate access to temperature changes should I want them, water, mints or gum, and comfort.

*I also feel totally ridiculous to keep going up to the bartender asking for glasses of water with massive pupils haha
