i was just wondering if anyone knew wich courses i need to have passed and in what grades if i want to go into bartending when i graduate from high school
If you want to be a bartender I would suggest you get a job busing or serving then work your way into it. Much better than spending money on a "school" imo. You just have to learn about all of the different alcohols, what they taste like, how they combine, and what a couple dozen drinks consist of. Its all about feel and sensing what will taste good and in what proportions.
There are a couple tricks for mixing, spinning vermouth, running tabs, different ways of taking care of the bar, etc. All of that comes from experience of working around bars.
This is very good advice ^
I've been to bartending school, the prerequisites are (a) can you fog a mirror? and (b) do you have several hundred dollars to shell out?
They don't give a shit about you or your past experience or education.....really it's a money-making scam. They don't teach you anything you can't learn by working in restaurants. They often claim to provide job placement upon "graduation" but when I went, that was a bold-faced lie. Their idea of job placement was to give me the number of a chinese food restaurant - I called and the manager didn't even speak english
Do what Mehm said, get a job waiting tables and work your way up.
alright thanks for the advice but does having a certificate from graduating bartending school change how hard it is to find a job as a bartender or the pay?
