Hi,
Ive been using blue light for a great resource. Its a great site. But Ive come to an odd cross road. I was diagnosed with Peripheral Artery Disease years ago, there is 20% blood flow left in my right leg and muscle and nerve damage. Extremely painful. Anyway, Ive been on pain management for about 3 years and can handle anything they throw at me at the hospital. Seem I have a very high tolerance, probably due to going to raves and after hours parties. Anyway, I've been on 32mg Dilaudid aka hydromorphonre for about a year and its worked well enough to keep me laying on my back and puttering around the house a little bit. Anyway I found out that Ketamaine is also used for pain control. Who Knew :) So I talked to my pain management doc and she sent me to a compound pharmacist. Who now has me on a nasal spray of 10% K. But it takes four puffs each nostril to get max relief without going into a K hole. Im trying to talk them in to bumping it up to 20% so I don't have so much drippage.

Any who that gave me an idea. I pulverized 10 8 mg pills and added it to 30 ml of hot saline solution. Wrapped a paper towel around the end of a funnel and let it drip into one of the old ketamine bottles.

What I would like to know if someone can help is, what I did is it better then just insufflating the pills. Any idea of the concentration?
I'm supposed to take the 4 8mg pills orally every 4 hours and the Ketamine as need. Usually 4 puffs each nostril every 3 hours works and the stuff aint cheap. I used to pay 10% for a vial compared to the 10% percent solution. I have to admit that the combo has given me a lot of my life back. Examples I could only walk my dog for 10 min before the pain started while on just Dilaudid. Now I can easily do 30 min.
I actually went to dinner with friends and then a movie and only had to dodge into the restroom for some puffs of K before the movie started. These thing I haven't done in years. I've been pretty much bed ridden. But now it seems my rec drugs are what's going to give me a semblance of a life back. Legally of all things. Go figure.
Anyway anyone who who can help if the Dilaudid concentration is worth it or dangerous or pointless, I'd love to know.
Thanks for reading my babbling, any insight would be helpful.
Thanks!

I believe you got 2.66mg per ml of saline solution. It sounds like its worth it as long as you prefer that ROA.

Search posts by John_Burrows. He has made a Dilaudid nasal spray, and I believe started an informative thread about it.

I agree that you're lucky...those of us who love D's are awfully jealous! LOL

Thanks Guys. What really sucks is that if you are in pain they do nothing for you but help relieve the pain. I've had as high as 96mg but nothing but pain relief from it. Lost insurance so took the dosage as low as I could handle and afford.
Worst part of my experiment is there was just a little ketamine left in the other bottle but not enough for the sprayer to work. So now they both taste the same and Im pretty sure I put the rubber band around the right one. Awkward to say the least. I'll check for the Burrows post, thanks.

I am sorry to hear about your severe pain, that really sucks.

I think this will work out for the best for you! If they don't want to bump you up to 20%, you can just reduce the solution's content a bit by dehydrating it if you were so inclined.

Thanks Captain. I asked about the 20% but no luck so far. But I see my pain doc Thursday and I think she want to see me on it before authorizing the increase. 4 puffs per nostril ends up with some being wasted as drip or if a nostril is partially clogged then it looks like I have a runny nose. Not to mention to those who dont know why Im dashing to the bathroom in the middle of going out to eat, it give the impression that Im doing coke with all sniffing. I would like to be at least doing it if people are going to assume it. But thanks again Captain, they gave me 2 choices, pain meds or amputate my legs. The way I look at it is, as long as I have my legs there is a chance the problem may be fixed someday. So I'll take any med they can through at me. Dilly's seem to be the only ones effective Fentyl patch was pointless and oxymorphone didnt provide as much relief. It just sucks I get no fun outta these. :-(

Meaning, if you had to choose amputation, you wouldn't get pain meds?

No, just that the pain "may not" be as intense. I have a blood clottting disorder called hypercoagulability, which you can look up on Wikipedia. That in turn gave me Peripheral arterial disease. Though the clotting started in my right renal artery affecting one of my kidneys. On top of all that I got something called lupus anticoagulant antibodies which in short doesn't mean I have lupus but it prevent blood thinners like warfarin to work properly. So even though you are not supposed to clot on warfarin I still do. Probably more then you wanted to know.
