I applied at Mcdonalds yesterday for a full time crew member job and they declined me today via email. I have 2 years of experience at a local small supermarket and decent enough qualifications and it really pisses me off that they declined me, I have been declined so many times by them and its so unfair!

Ant ideas as to why they did so many times (at different ones)?

Andy.

do you have visible tatoos or piercings? a "radical" haircut? maybe there is something "odd" on your resume?

All of these things will stop a corporation from hiring you regardless of your experience. they want cookie cutter looking people working for them.

I applied online which is now the only possible way of applying in the UK.

I worked for Mcdonalds once when I was 17, and I've applied since then and havent been accepted. I dont really understand how I could get the job with no experience but they want nothing to do with me now that I have experience. I wasnt fired or anything like that.

Atleast you recieved an email. :\

I always turn in my app then never hear from them again.

I know man! It confuses me so much!! We have the necessary experience, but don't get the job, when people with no experience do! I suppose I'm lucky to get a email I suppose.

They can pay people with no experience less. Also people with no experiience are not seen as a threat to the shift leaders position.

Your interview details will be logged on an HR database, if you disclosed something they didn't like at a previous interview they can and will use it to reject you at subsequent interviews. Some places say ' please do not apply if you have applied unsucessfully before', so I'm surprised they keep inviting you back.
The notes from all your interviews have to be kept on file for something like 3 years, so you can ring a branch, ask to be put through to HR and request feedback on why you were unsuccesful at each interview. I'd strongly recommend you do this, as you may learn something you're doing that you're unaware of.
I think if you make the effort to attend an interview its the least they can do to contact you to say you've been unsuccesful. It makes me angry to hear of companies being so rude as not even respond.
Maccy D's have a well recognised good training scheme so hopefully they'll carry that through to providing decent constructive feedback for unsuccesful applicants.

Ah sorry, just realised you said this app was online. Have you attended an interview in the past or was it all online?Either way, they will be able to tell you why you haven't been invited to interview.

Pick a job that is easy to get..........security/construction/valet parking. Mickey D's is some brutal work if you ask me. They tend to hire the really young and when they get older and want more money they usually just say they stole money or gave away free food and hire more youngsters.

I think serving tables is the best "entry" level job you can have. Taking home cash money every night is a real motivator to do good work.

Mcdonalds would sooner hire a kid under 18 so they can pay the fuck all! Like under minimum wage think its like £4.85 an hour its an absolute rip off. Anyway im not saying its only kids that work in there but usually you notice alot more youngers in there, its the supervisors managers are slightly older. Its only a possiblity mate and a rant about food chains like that!

About the age thing, I mean I am 20 which is maybe one of the reasons and it would be nice to get feedback from them at least! There can't be a lot wrong with what I am doing online. I'm gonna give up with the whole Maccy D's thing now anyways and look fro something a little bit different. Thanks for all of the replies guys!

I worked at mcdonalds when i was 16 with no experience prior. They hired everyone that came to the 'interview' aka, everyone sits down in the party room where they have kids birthdays, writes out there details, and gets told to come back for a trial and if you dont fuck up then your hired. It was fucked because they gave me the worst work and i just happened to be one of the few white people. I was unloading trucks at 3/4am till 6/7am and doing grills for breakfast sometimes. I got like 6hrs a week total, and they refused me getting any more hours over and over. I just left, those fucking cunt fucks.. the owners were so fucking racist and gave all there indian pals plenty of hours but all the white people the absolute bare minimum and at the worst times.

I even got told off for drinking water because 'i should be working'. fuck THOSE CUNTS i would curb stomp any of those managers if i could get away with it.

I dunno about the UK but im assuming it would be simmiler to here in Aus in the fact they can't discriminate on age alone. So telling you your too old might lead them into a legal trap. In stead they just say not now and hire someone whos 16.

Maybe apply for a managers roll?

Applying online blows dude, it is best to make an appearance of some sort. Even if you have to apply online go into the store and talk to a MANAGER and make a good impression, shake his hand, tell him your name, etc. In my experience it is next to impossible to get a job when you apply online and don't talk to anyone in the store, unless they need people right at that time and you are lucky.

use craigslist for jobs, I found 2 jobs already, been on 1 for over a year now. And when I say jobs I mean the job section, not the erotic services, lol jp. and fuck mcdonalds dude, Im a busser at a restaurant, I get paid 4.23 an hour+ tips, I always average out at least 10.00 an hour (thats tips + my hourly wage), I've left there twice with $100 in tips, not to mention my hourly pay. It's a mentally easy job, you just gotta work hard.
