Opioids withdrawal: how long will I be tired?

Le Junk

You've been taking HC a long time; think back to what you felt like before. I know for me, before I started using opiates, I felt exactly the way you do now. So, if I quit, that's probably what I can expect for baseline.

I think we get faked out sometimes, and think everything will straighten out when we get clean. Often, that's not the case - the old problems come back. Otherwise, why would any of us have started down this road in the first place? I believe strongly in the Endorphine Deficiency theory of drug use, although I realize that other ppl see that as rationalization. Maybe, but I just never felt right, pre-opiates.

I don't discourage anyone from staying clean, but I think you have to set realistic expectations and then just work from there. 'Gluck!

I'm appreciating all of your responses and taking it all in. Keep em coming! :)

I'm in Indy too man. I'm on day 28 of heroin withdrawal.......and I'm still getting super achey at night....RLS and sore in my calves and forearms.........I was on the Hero for 3 years and used subox sometimes between re-upping........I withdrew from Hero like 2 years ago and it only lasted like 4 or 5 days and I was fine.....just edgy..........But this time, it's taking forever.....28 days and still getting sore at night? fatigued? man, i'm just ready to feel better..........I'm still trying to decide if, because it's taking this long, that it might have been the subox withdrawl instead.......I'm not sure.......Or maybe it's just because I used for so long I really tossed my system out of wack..........Do you have any advice? what day are you on at this point?

Any discussion would be of help.

peace.

Hate to say this but yeah the longer you use the longer the recovery is gonna take, i know it's annoying when people say " oh give it 5-7 days and you'll be all fine again.. in reality no, in some cases yes.

Also being on suboxone is going to extend it quite a bit, what we're you using befor the suboxone and for how long? and how much suboxone we're you on for how long?

i was on Methadone for around 10 months and it took a bit over 6 months to start to feel normal again.

thanx for your reply.......I was just using subox between heroin dosages......like when i couldn't score, etc..........So it wasn't consistant use of subox......and I really don't think I could have been addicted to it.

I had just went through like two eight balls of heroin.......then used subox for like a week and a half (very small lines)......then I withdrew.

I'm just ready to walk away this time. It's just frustrating.

^If you used Suboxone for a week and a half then most of the dope was out of your system by the time you stopped. I would bet that the reason you still feel some withdrawl symptoms is due to the week and a half of regular suboxone use.

Like I mentioned above, I tapered off my dope habit with suboxone last time and was on the subs for a little over two weeks. I got down to about 1mg of sub per day when I stopped, and the withdrawals from that alone took well over a month to go completely away.

Suboxone is really strong stuff with a long half life and shouldn't be underestimated when it comes to withdrawal. It's loads better than going cold turkey off of H though.

I have read about it's half-life, etc. That's why I thought maybe it was the subox. But once the subox ran out, it was just like going cold turkey off Hero.....that's why Im really confused......and again, frustrated that i'm still sore and fatigued after 28 days.......It took you a month to feel normal again? Well, at least i'm getting close hopefully.

thanx for your reply.

I've been clean for 6 1/2 months now. And honestly, it took all of 6 months for me to feel normal. The acute withdrawal for me was easy as I had tappered down to 20 mg's of hydros per day when I stopped cold turkey. In fact, I had no acute withdrawal symptoms at all. Buuuut, the post acute withdrawal (PAWS) was absolute hell! The restless legs kept me up every single night for 5 months straight. I felt weird and was anti-social. In fact, I didn't even recognize myself as my personality had changed completely. PAWS symptoms will peak at 3-6 months, so I wouldn't plan on feeling any better until that time elapses. But each passing day will bring you one day closer to yourslef again. Congrats on making it to day 28. Stay strong as the only alternative is to go backwards. :\

I am glad to hear you have gotten through PAWS, it certainly is no fun.

Excercise is key. When im in withdrawl i actually like to go to work. I have a physical job and it helps. Takes my mind off shit too. 5 years is a long stint, even for just hydros. I always take a break from them every month that way they dont get tooooo built up in my system. It kinda sux for a couple days, but its worth it. Get some vitamins too, and keep ur sleep schedule as regular as possible.

If it doesnt get better in the next month, I might go talk to a doc.
