Nice! Caspa club show!!! He's playing Friday during the day at Lolla. So Caspa on Friday, Skream on Sunday. What's on Sat? Rusko is at Lolla too. If he plays a club gig I won't even have to go (Lolla) Gonna be a ragin' weekend!!!

This gets an epic fail. Unless i had been like, omg, a clubbbber! i was looking forward to checking out Capsa and seeing what this Perrry Farrell performance was about. Perry Farrell played on tractor and had latency issues, which no one seemed to know how to fix, resulting in glitchy sound, albeit a pretty damn banging sound system upstairs. They had a set of fifties music, faded into and out of each song before perry farrell went on stage. None of the staff would attempt to even help us find out the timeslots, and one of them shoved me out of his way when he didn't want to answer my question. All anyone would tell us is that "all the better djs will be playing upstairs." To which we found Capsa playing DOWNstairs, a half an hour after he started playing. The subs were on but they were BARELY audible. I could hear the people in the club partying better than i could hear the dj spinning. Caspa spun well. I wish i could have heard it better. We left after about 15 mins of (not) hearing Caspa. Best part of the evening-$4 bottles of water and a bathroom attendant so the faucet fill-up method was a no go. Hooray for Chicago, once again.

Yeah this was bullshit, I was running late and standing in line when my buddy called me and said not to even come in, Caspa was on but the sound was shit! And of corse it was $14 to park, so I paid that to stand in line for 5 min. What's funny is all the club reviews I read on google the one thing everyone complained about was the staff.

in the grand scheme of things...

for what was billed as a dance party, you got exactly that: a dance party.

chromeo > caspa

any day of the week.

caspa was billed to bring in the junglists and bass-heads. those two crowds don't necessarily mix. betwixt the glamour and glitz paraded by perry farrell is a fine line of "hollywood" theatrics that caspa fans paid for in spades.

perry farrell, for all his efforts into the "dj" realm, is just some musician/songwriter that appreciates 4/4 and loves to tinker with records and turntables. i don't think he truly "gets" what the electronic music scene is as a whole from a punter's perspective. he's riding the wave of "insert indie rocker's name here" quasi-dj-gig-after-local-performance trend that surprisingly hasn't faded. the guys from hot chip do it well and andrew butler from hecrucles and love affair is a phenomenal house dj.

i dunno...guess you live and learn. i would've went to see chromeo, but that's me.

well said. maybe if i had researched a little more into chromeo i would have enjoyed it more, but even by the time they went on i was over the bar. chicago seems to be a constant hit-or miss....

i'm sure chromeo was a sure-fire winner...sucks that the service was so poor you wasted your money and missed out on a rare opportunity to experience their set. from what i can gather, i would blame perry farrell for organizing the whole affair. i realize that the "event" was kind of an afterparty for lolla since it shuts down all three nights at 10pm after the headliners go on, but i would've figured with the budget they have for talent that the sound would've catered to both spectrums.

live and learn.
