Which legal high would have done this?

Hi

A friend of mine just had a very bad experience with a legal high and I'm trying to find out which one it might have been. The fact that he cannot remember what it was might be a pointer.

Basically, he bought the white powder off someone and was told it would be something like valium in its effect. He and a friend took some, on top of a couple of bottles of wine. He reports that it didn't seem to do much initially. The next thing he remembers is the police arriving and arresting him for driving under the influence. Apparently the car he'd arrived in was in an accident and the keys were in it. He was incapable of giving a statement and vaguely remembers being taken to hospital, somehow arriving home, being arrested again for leaving the hospital. He appears to have lost nearly two days of his life and crashed a car into the bargain yet remembers almost nothing. The friend didn't fair any better and was found wandering the streets in distress and was sectioned under the mental health act!

WTF could do all that?

Crikey - just read some reports from people on that drug. That fits it to a tee. By the sound of it, he might well still be under the influence of it since it was 4 days ago he took it and it has a half life of 60 hours. That might explain why he can't stick to the same story and sounds monged.

Would the fact that it is a legal high be any mitigation in subsequently getting into and crashing a car?

Well, it's better than it being illegal sure. Any reasonable judge would see it as mitigating but if he knew it was like Valium and still decided to drive they'll use that against him as most people know Valium is not conducive to good driving practice.

I don't think he "decided" anything for about 48 hours after taking the dab. The plan was to stay the night. God knows what happened after it kicked in. I don't suppose they will ever be completely sure. He's going to lose his job over it + his licence by the look of it.

Would I be right in thinking that a bottle of wine would seriously increase the effects?

^Yes, alcohol will synergise with phenazepam and make it much stronger. If he took a dab though, as in dipped a wet finger into it, he'd have taken a fucking huge dose. Phenazepam is very potent, active at levels well below 1 mg.

Definitely sounds like Phenazepam. Taking a "dab" of it is the worst thing he could have possibly done.
The active dose is so small that there's no way of eye-balling a dose effectively without taking an ungodly amount :\

Then mixing that with Ethanol just multiplies that badness by 20x :$

Maybe ambien.... Did it burn when yo snorted it or did u eat it? If you ad booze to zolpidem your pretty fucked out of your mind blackout style but still there in hte body.... Doesnt sound legal or im sure many people would have posted something about this????

Ambien isn't a powder generally and it would be an odd thing to sell as a legal high. My money is on a RC benzo, probably phenazepam based on the duration and it being the most common.

He was still seeing double last night and this morning his speech still sounding a bit thick and he sounds a bit more stupid than normal. Whatever it is, it has one hell of a half-life.

He was told it was a legal high by the guy who gave it to him but of course who knows if he was lying.

The police are having his blood analysed. My concern is that their tests will just show a generic benzo level which will look very bad. If he can get the name of it off the guy who gave it to him then maybe he can have them looks specifically for it.

Phenazepam is legal fortunately. This does sound very much like Phenazepam. It's unusual for a dealer to sell an illegal high as a legal high. It's silly. They lose money this way. If he's still not well just make sure he's with others to make sure he doesn't do anything stupid. He should be back to normal in a few days. You could always say your friend's drink was spiked and that caused it. It's possible and I'm only suggesting this because of the immoral laws.

It's not me it's a friend. He's still not capable of typing I wouldn't imagine!

That's what I've been telling him - at least nobody got killed and clearly that was just blind luck,

Why did they mix something "valium like in effect" with wine?!?!?! That's so retarded.

...Whatever it is, it has one hell of a half-life...

Another thing that points to Phenazepam. It does have a rather long half-life (listed as around 60hrs).
And there's very little point in a dealer selling an illicit drug as a legal one due to money, as someone pointed out.
