Mephedrone is to become a regulated psychotropic substance in China, which may well interfere with some of the labs that are still producing it out there ...

Mephedrone regulated as psychotropic substances

On August 2, 2010, the State Food and Drug Administration, the Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry of Health jointly issued an announcement, which requires that Mephedrone (4-methylmethcathinone) should be regulated as Category I psychotropic substances as of September 1, 2010 and no institutions or individuals may engage in the experimental research, production, distribution, use, storage, transportation, import/export of Mephedrone without approval.

i bet you every lab there is going apeshit right now and trying to synth and sell as much ASAP

I think we could see a increase in price and decrease in quantity with mephedrone now, China was a strong source of mephedrone as far as I know.

african countries?
no way
africa (most of it) appears to be lawless and whatnot, theyd probably have to worry about local cartels
maybe like...holland or some euro country where they dont care?

I think it is going to be difficult to just simply move labs, even so it will take time for it to recover so in a few months/year time we could see a large decrease in mephedrone availability until more labs open up and at that I suspect there will be very few due.

This release actually came from a lab I know of. Apparently they saw this coming ages back, but no-one else believed it.

It seems China is trying to step up the pressure on its drugs underbelly.

Rumours of the lack of Safrole oil being from pre-olympic pressure on China to make sure the MDMA production (or precursor production at least) was ceased, and now this ...

It's not looking good for interesting drugs my friends ...

yea...i saw the same thing.......weird..... :)

I bet you this is because people are starting to get addicted to this in China. I don't think China give a shit what happens to other countries. They must be making a lot of money from exporting it. Would you guys agree?

Not entirely. Yes, China will be making money from this, but not huge amounts I wouldn't have thought, especially as the UK was one of the biggest markets for mephedrone, and it's now a Class B drug, which will of course curb use to an extent (even if that's only because people can't go into headshops and pay £30/g for mephedrone).

The international community can and often do apply pressure, and whilst China is a big boy, he does still need the support of his friends to keep him safe (and rich).

I doubt there's a huge mephedrone problem in China, but I could be completely wrong. Somehow I don't think they'd have caught on this quick if it was an issue within their own country.

Besides, we saw it happen not that long ago. MDMA went from being abundant in every town, to being one of the most scarce drugs (real MDMA anyway) in the UK, and the price was (and still is) phenomenal.

2007, real crystalline MDMA was costing ~£100/3.5g, start of 2010 that's ~£100/1.0g. Of course there's much speculation about why the availability went down and price went up, many people crediting a 2008 bust of 33-tonnes of Safrole oil as the cause, but if prohibition has taught us anything it's that a single bust NEVER affects supply, especially not to that extent.

Which opens up the floor for speculation, rumour and myth. The one I heard most often (and chose to believe more likely than the rest) was that there was international pressure placed on China to stop the refining of Safrole oil to MDP2P and then MDMA (something they clearly knew about, and presumably as it was never killing significant numbers of people (unlike Opium back in the day) something they allowed), in exchange for the Beijing 2008 olympics.

what a bummer. glad i stocked up, although i've still yet to try any of it. probably a good night to do so, eh?

surprised this isn't a more active topic.

This shit is pretty toxic anyhow. Probably one of the least benign RCs I've researched.

I've never personally bioassayed it but vastroconstriction among purple knees/hands I don't want

I doubt all too much is going to change. Tons of scheduled RC's are still flowing in from china as we speak. I wouldnt be surprised to see the labs just move to a new country altogether though. Cant say I didnt see this coming, it was only a matter of time.

Scheduled in China though?

It's one thing the Chinese ignoring international scheduling (and for years a plethora of funky tryptamines and phenethylamines have been coming through, yes), but I'd imagine they'd be hotter on it if it was controlled in their own country, no?

This is pure speculation on my part though, do correct me if I'm wrong.

Actually, come to think of it, what are China's drug laws like?

You'd think so, but in reality there are still tons of legitamate labs creating illegal chemicals for re-sale.

If you can afford to pay off the government, you can do almost anything, anywhere.

Very true..

I didn't know China wasn't third world, but it's close enough you get the picture.. I've been to Thailand there "not exactly" Third world either but the government is very corrupt (much like our own) All I'm saying is it's a lot more affordable to pay off the right people..
