so today i got perscribed 10mg adderall xrs and my doctor wants me to break my 10mg lexapro in half for the first week or 2 just incase of any side affects, and then gradually get back up to 10mgs once ive been on the adderall for awhile. BUT, i have done addys while on my regular dose of lexapro...and i know someone else who actually takes it everyday pretty much on the same dose of lexapro. Im kinda hesitant to break the lexapro in half and only eat 5mgs cause i have bad anxiety and i read that kind of "weening" yourself off can make you more anxious even though im kind of not weening myself off. I also get perscribed xanax 1mg so if i do feel anxcious i always have that. but i was wondering if anyone knew any kind of side effects from mixiing the 2, or 3 i guess but mainly the 2. I have done it before and didnt have a problem so i was just thinking of saying i did it but not really actually doing it. but i figuered id get some insight from here to help me along the way.

I think your doctor wanted you to lower the dose of Lexapro for a short period of time when being placed on the Adderall to make sure that you don't experience any side effects and then up the dose back up knowing that the two go together now without side effects. Your doctor will feel more comfortable and up your dose back up. So don't worry. Lowering the dose of Lexapro for just a little amount of time will be fine.

In my experience I was fine with that combo. My shrink actually started me out at a somewhat higher dose:
First 10mg Lexapro daily to 20mg Lexapro daily with a script of Klonopin .5mg which I could take up to 3X daily as needed. Then added 20mg x 2 Adderall XR daily
Now I'm up to 30mg Lexapro and 30mg x 2 Adderall XR daily. I don't need the Klonopoin anymore really. I have it around just in case.
I have freek out sessions on most SSRI's but Lexapro was totally smooth.

There's no danger with mixing any of those medications together. If there was, you wouldn't be prescribed all three at once.

I dunno, with some of these shrinks I've had I wonder. Some of the shrinks I had were almost less knowledgeable about some of these drugs than I was.
I think some of these shrinks know if they can keep a guy addicted to all these meds and always weirding out from one thing or another that's good business for them. They know if they can get you hooked on one or 2 psyche drugs then your a permanent bread and butter cash-flow.
I mean, does it make sense for a shrink to take me from a 10mg dose to 30mg dose of adderall in one week? Aren't they supposed to go slow and see how 10 works for a while first? This shrink was like "well most of my patients are on 60 to 120mg a day, almost as if she was offering. Like does that make sense to mention what the other patients are on daily? And when this shrink found out I was lying about having a drug-free past, she didn't care one bit, it didn't affect my prescriptions or anything. I'm not sure yet weather I love this shrink and she is just totally on the level and cool or she's trying to establish a clientele rich in addictive substances out of greed.
She strangely will script me pretty much anything. And she just yesterday changed my dose from 30mg to 25mg which ended up giving me a huge stockpile of the 30's left over to play with and bing on to hearts content. She has done this 3 times now so I end up with a leftover stockpile. And consequently I have been seeing my shrink not once a month, but litrerally once a week.
Luckily I have met my deductible for my insurance so now I pay zero co-pay for every visit. That could be another reason why she feels free to have me come in. And now I'm seeing a therapist in the same office AND a marriage counselor now too.
Drug addiction does not get any better as you get older that's for damn sure. Sorry I digresses there a little.

Amphetamines and SSRI's have to be monitored, or you should know how the drugs interact, since they do infact, interact
