any other heavy h users get "tinglies" ? what are they/from?

I like to call them tinglies but u may know them by another name, but it is basically a heavenly intense itch all over your body that lasts about twenty seconds. it happens seconds after IV and is almost like an allergic reaction, tho its one of my favorite things. it seems to only happen with high doses ( 8+ packs, around a quarter gram or at least a few tenths, which I think is why I don't start getting them till after a couple weeks of constant use) I wanna know if its the h, a cut (quinine?) or an allergic reaction your body builds over time (when I get extreme tinglies my hands sometimes swell up a bit). I think I might have heard an old junkie refer to it as "mixed jive" if we were talking about the same feeling.

any thaughts/comments? this has been bugging me for years.

It's not the cut. I assume you're talking about what I call the "pins and needles". I.ve never got a chance to try dope, but morphine does the same thing.

Its the histamine release that opiates cause. All opiates/opioids cause it to some degree and the ones closest related to morphine cause some of the most itching (such as diacetylmorphine or methylmorphine... Aka heroin and codeine).

If you were to take an antihistamine half an hour or so before your shot, it'd kill most of the histamine release.

This is very basic so I'm sending it to bdd.

Its strange because my Dilaudids (hydromorphone) dont give me the pins. Niether does m-eslon brand morphine (the little beads in the capsules), but maybe the dose was too low. But I definitely dont get the pins from my dillies or my hydromorph contin's.

Does all heroin give the pins and needles? I hate the feeling, it ruins my rush.

well another tingle you may be feeling, correct me if im wrong, is the drug itself passing through your blood brain barrier. hence the 15 seconds or so it takes to reach your brain, are you familiar with what opiate injectors refer to as the rush?

When I snort a line of oxys I'll sometimes get what I call "Pins and Needles" from the top of my head that runs right down the back of my body.

Really good dope usually gives me pins and needles. I always thought it had something to do with morphine because when I used to shoot MS Contins I would get the craziest pins and needles ever

Histamine release...I never minded it on heroin but codeine would give me the most awful itching that I could barely feel the high. Morphine would give me that feeling also but didn't mind it as much. High doses of Morphine I didn't mind it.

This is incorrect.

You cannot "feel" the drug passing through the BBB.

I'm pretty sure its not the classic "rush" because like I said it kicks in a while after I've been using once I get my dose up really high. I would consider the classic "rush" feeling how it feels when I first start using and am only doing a pack or two. it seems to happen with better shit and once i get my dose to around a quarter gram at a time but occasionally ill get shit that barely does it or wont at all and I still nod. I guess it does feel like pins and needles and I have the uncontrollable urge to itch. mostly my back, legs and hands like I said if I do a lot and they are super intense my hands and face swell like I'm having an allergic reaction and I turn really red. if it is histamines ill know never to take benadryl as this is my favorite feeling actually. I get pissed when I don't get any. thanks for input I've been dying to know.
