Drug users nabbed outside court

Three people have allegedly been caught with drugs on them outside a courthouse on the NSW's mid north coast.

Drug detection dogs were called in on Tuesday morning, with three of the 11 people searched outside Taree Local Court allegedly possessing cannabis.

Northern Region Commander Carlene York said officers had spent the last six months gathering intelligence about a large number of people using drugs outside the court, particularly on hearing days.

"The lesson is clear - drug possession will lead to serious criminal charges," Commander York said in a statement on Tuesday.

"This morning, police initiated a high visibility operation using drug detection dogs to target drug possession in the public areas around the court house."

Commander York said investigations were sparked by concerns about the use of drugs and the disposal of syringes around the Taree Court House.

Two men, aged 54 and 51, and a woman, aged 37, have each been charged with drug possession.

The trio will appear at Taree Local Court on September 7.

Dude all the big drug kingpins catch the train around with kilos of gear in their suitcase, everybody knows that :p

There was a guy a few years back that was busted at the X-ray machine bringing a Cannabis seedling into court. He was planning on using the plant as part of his defence.

You've got to be fucking kidding me. 6 fucking months..

bit rando, get drugs, hang around a court house, wtf.. were they slinging there or something?

asking for it imo

Doesn't really surprise me that a lot of people facing charges would have a smoko just before their court appearance.

yeah, have you guys ever sat through a court case? its really boring! i can understand that some people would need to be a little high to sit through it.=D

THIS is the main problem. How they can justify putting so much money and time into such a petty crime is beyond me. The fact that they didn't print how much pot was found between the three of them tells me that it was a stupidly low amount and would be very fucking embarrasing for the media to print. Disgusting and disgraceful. Especially when it is only fucking bud.

I'm sicj of having subsidized pay for this shit, time to start a Bluelight party to run in the next election.

They've been scourging public transport within the west of melbourne with dogs in recent weeks. comes as no surprise to me.

but you'd have to be fucking game to set foot in or near a court house with that shit on you 8)

Not in the country. Every one does it, hell the cops barely even give a fuck. Saves fights in the courthouse. I can't get over the 6 months thing. How fucking pathetic can our police force get.

I did law in year 10 and we did a few excursions. 2 were to courts, Dandenong Magistrates Court and County Court in the CBD. We saw various cases being heard in the Magistrates Court and sat in on a culpable driving case at County Court. The culpable driving case was SO boring it is beyond words. I shit you not, 2 or 3 members of the jury fell asleep and were discretely woken by the bailiff or whatever you call him.

Not many people believe me when I tell them that but it is 100% true, I would of thought they would like stop everything and make sure the jury was paying attention to be fairer on the guy on trial. I guess they thought it would be embarassing to draw attention to it and hoped nobody noticed. I can't speak for the lawyers or the majority of people in the court but my entirely class certainly saw it, it was pretty damn funny, the only entertaining thing about the whole day though unfortunately.

I was high both times and had to go through all this security shit at County Court and was shitting myself.
