Sorry to start another thread, but I was afraid my post would be overlooked in my other one.

I just gotta say, my heart is broken ... and I'm pissed as hell at ALL of the stupid ass doctors that have messed my son up! They've had him come off Paxil WAY TOO FAST 3 different times, and now he's suffering horribly!

Anyway .... to add to all of this, his therapist put him on gabapatin for THREE days only, then told him he could come off the Ativan in another 3 days, yeah right! He was taking like, 3 or 4 of the 0.5mg. at a time, about 3 times a day. Now she wants him to go down to only 3 for the whole day!

He called tonight, he's in torture .... crying, shaking, throwing up, chills, body aches. :X

AND .... she only gave him 13 more pills!

So I'm asking ... if anyone knows a doctor in his area, that will easily prescribe him more, so he can come off of them slower? And yes, I AM talking to his therapist tomorrow morning, and let her know how STUPID I think she is for taking him off so fast! I'll first try my damnest to get more from her, and will talk to her supervisor if I need to .. but in case I can't get them to budge, if anybody has ANY suggestions, I could REALLY use it!

My son has been screwed over by the doctors SO long and he's SO sick, he's just given up, he doesn't trust any of them anymore, he has no heart left, to try anymore, he's just down and can't seem to get up.

I've been going through this all with him ... in my heart and soul .. and now I'm starting to lose hope. :(

He lives in Seattle, WA. He has no car, and too weak to get to pharmacy or store for food. He needs to find a GOOD doctor that will understand what he's going through and not worry about him misusing the benzo, since all he wants to do is get OFF this stuff, but do it safely.

Please message me if you can help in any way.
Thank you,
Diana

I'm not from Seattle and I don't think we're allowed to recommend doctors in any case, but some doctor shopping is in order. In the meantime (unless you know where to get benzos black market) he may need to go to the emergency room. Benzo withdrawls can cause fatal seizures. It not just feeling like shit, it's a matter of life and death.

irrelevant to whether or not this story is true, valium is used to taper from benzos. even a GP knows that. If your son is scripted ativan, it is not by a therapist, but a psychiatrist, who almost surely does not have a "supervisor."

like squirrel said, if someone is going through significant bezo WD, take them to the emergency room. Bring his latest prescription bottles to explain.

your post is against BL rules.

Well, he tells me that is why his therapist gave him the Gabapentin for 3 days, to avoid seizures. I'm just scared that wasn't enough to protect him .... to take 300mg. of the Gaba, then stop it suddenly after 3 days.

I did not know I was going against rules ..... forgot everything ... been going crazy with worry lately.
Is that the fact that I asked for a doctor referral? If so ... sorry, didn't realize.

And yes, this IS true! And you're right .... his therapist didn't GIVE him the Ativan, he was scripted that here in NY while he was staying with me for 2 months. But his therapist IS the one who is telling him how to withdraw. And the therapist has a supervisor, half the time, she has to confer with her, about how to treat my son.

I'm not sure it's significant withdrawal, but it's enough to make him horribly sick. He's scared to death of hospitals now, especially ER, since so many times, he's been mistreated there, neglected and ignored.
Of course, if he has a seizure, he'll have no other choice.

I'm just SO worried about him!

Neourontin is precribed for seizures (among many things), but it will likely be needed for more than three days and perhaps at a higher dose. I can't imagine it would be to hard to get more than three days worth prescribed, they aren't a controlled substance.

If she is worried he is gonna have a seizure then he should go to the ER. Frankly she should treat him better. This is getting to be ridiculous. I feel bad for your son.

Also if it's a private practice she most likely does not have a "superior". He should go to the ER and have them refer him to a real psychiatrist. I don't understand the negligence that is going on here.

Also it might be unethical for her to talk to you, patient dr confindentiality.

Are you sure he hasn't abused benzos or any drugs and the dr knows, and is ashamed to tell you about it?

Also if it is benzo wd it is a matter of life and death they *HAVE* to treat him and taper him down until he is stable.

BTW: Drug sourcing is against BL rules. You might not know this, but you should edit your post so it doesn't get closed.

Honestly, I wouldn't have your son on pills, pass him a blunt and although in certain scenarios that may lead to paranoia, it may very well calm him down to a nice state. Reason I say that as far as the pills go, I've been on mad pills(in which I was required to take) for skitzo/bi-polar treatment(although most of which i took were also for treating seizures whatever else they claim) and I can honestly say they did nothing for me but fuck me up worse, all I seen were side effects, as In I gained like 50lbs in 2 months maybe, and I kno a female who started losing her hair as a result of seizure meds, and had to stop them al together. The way I looked at it aswell aside from all the fucked up shit they do to you, is that you will always need it, and you never gain from the meds.. What I mean by that is, with bud, x,shrooms, even dust(IME), can work to build confidence(mind and body) as well as stability overall(being able to withstand the anxiety and panic which normally arises) longterm.. Like Im not saying do those drugs, but even after use I was still able to learn how to get into a better state and remain positive in mind u feel me. However, wen you stop takin meds you get out of dat sleepy zombie mode and get right back worse to where you were before, and by worse is I couldnt even sleep for a week after stopped taking meds.. All they do is repress and hold you down, they are not actually helping you, but restraining you aswell as the toll they take(a lot of dem fuck up ur liver worse den liquor, dxm n shit), but as I said no long term help.. So you really want your kid on pills 4 ever?? Hell no, trust me get him on some piff or sour he'll be good.. Shit I'ld rather take mdma, then all the pills they tried to put me on when i was locked up.

Well if he only had a minimal amount of benzos he should not be in benzo WD. It's either the Paxil or another underlying health problem. He needs to go to a Neurologist or something and get some imaging of the brain done. From everything you told me either it's drug related OR he has a serious medical condition or both. He doesn't have to see a psychiatrist for help. Perhaps going to a primary care dr or even mental hospital might even help him on some level. Regardless, he is 29 and it's his health, if he doesn't want to seek help then you can't make him. Also calling his dr's might be sending up red flags everywhere and be hurting him and not helping the situation.

Like most of the other posters have been saying, benzo withdrawal is nothing to mess around with. If his therapist thinks it is, then they are a fool.

My advice is to get to the emergency room, that way they can do an evaluation for safety purposes and set up a reasonable taper program for the medications.

Find a new therapist, or better in my opinion find a good psychiatrist.

Best of luck, please keep us posted.
