Temazepam

Hypnotic benzos (like temazepam) are widely considered far more abusable and likely to produce euphoria than benzos that are primarily anxiolytic. Benzos like diazepam, clonazepam and oxazepam for example.

d_m summed it up pretty much. The euphoria associated with benzos is related to the fact they're taken during times of stress, heightened anxiety, distressing insomnia etc. So you feel great because they've got rid of the nasty feelings you were experiencing prior to taking them.

I used to find eating some xanax after a day/night out on pills(mdxx) and/or meth to be extremely euphoric. If I were to eat those same bars when I was in a good mood and just looking for a 'high' I'd be highly let down.

I took some of these as I was prescibed with some painkillers Endone . Euphoric , yes I think so evenin the prescribed doses , but that may well have been me , mmmm Endone

no recreational use? it's one of the most euphoric benzos i've come across

LOL are u joking? 8o
trying hypnodorm, xanax, clonazepam

what benzos have u had

i have had every single benzo that is in australia and many that aint. and i think temaz is one of the weakest lamest benzos out. it takes 3 hours to peak and quickly dies down after that.

It is actually the quickest benzodiazepine to cross the blood brain barrier and is considered by many on this site to be the only benzo that causes true "euphoria"..

really where are u getting this info from?
It was highly abused when the gel caps were around as people would shoot them up. But I have had IV midaz, temaz, valium, clonaz and many others and i wouldn't rate it at all.

Yeah temazepam is my favorite benzo hands down.

Next would be a close battle between xanax and valium with valium just pulling ahead. Although i havn't tried any of the more powerful longer duration benzos so my opinion is very limited.

I'm on some now and enjoying this nicely, or perhaps the codeine and tramadol is playing more of a part in that, either way i'm sleeping tight tonight.

LOL fucking hell are you the fucking benzo police or something, it's all subjective mate obviously.

I just dont understand why? Doc shoppers used to give temaz away and be devo when they got it. I just read your post codeine and tramadol are like where temaz is on a doc first drug to script in the benzo drug class if u cant sleep, for pain codeine or tramadol is usually first line scripted pain relief.

i dont wanna eat em all to quick haha how easy is it to gey more? =\

In my experience, it's very difficult to get more. You're lucky you were prescribed it once :D
I have periodic insomnia and no doctor around my area will even touch on temazepam with a 10-foot clown pole.

By the way, to answer the original question, I LOVE temazepam, it's fucking lovely. But as you can clearly see from this thread, it affects everyone differently so there's no real solid answer to that question :)

If you've only got 25, I say you should use them for what they were prescribed for, i.e. to sleep.

Temazepam has no real recreational use. It's anti anxiety, anticonvulsant and also a muscle relaxent

It's great for sleeping :)

got to strongly disagree with that. myself and many others find temazepam an extremely recreational hypnotic at the right dose. it doesn't have much, if any muscle relaxant properties unluck diazepam and clonazepam in relation to its use with RLS. temaze does have anxiolytic properties obviously, but not near those of the typical anxiolytics.

it's one of the more euphoric benzos which are easily acquirable in australia.

3 hours to peak? what? maybe if you've eaten a gut full of concrete. temazepam takes no more than 15-20min to start taking effect, much the same with valium and clonazepam and xanax and most other benzos.

temaze is a short acting benzo hypnotic used to help initiate sleep. it's lucky to last 4 hours in duration before it dqindles off significantly.

and your list of benzos you rolled off are nothing out of the ordinary to be prescribed here. and flunitrazepam (rohypnol)? unless you got it on the street it's slim pickings getting that. i had enough trouble getting nitrazepam from my doctor and he's faily liberal with what he'll prescribe me if i present him with a strong enough case.

^Clonazepam actually peaks after about an hour or 2 to get the full anxiolytic effect.

Early on in my use, it'd produce somnolence with very little time required (20-30 mins)

Temazepam is piss weak, and a doctor, as first line treatment for insomnia would usually offer this or Zolpidem (Stilnox) but recently i've seen Zopiclone (Immovane) prescribed first line over Temazepam, as the patient suffered chronic airways disease. (i can't see any real reason to prescribe s drug with such deliriant effects on someone with no addiction issues)

That surprises me. Myself and a few others have no problem getting intermittent temaze scripts. Just have to seem trustworthy and know what to say ;)

I don't doctor shop, but sometimes you can bend the truth to get what you want.

I have to echo your sentiments n3o! It's a godsend when you need something to help with insomnia but I found you get tolerant extremely quickly and as lefty mentioned it can wear off within a few hours so I'd often find myself waking up half way through the night and being unable to get back to sleep without re-dosing :(

I was also prescribed it for moderate alcohol withdrawals but my GP said valium would have also sufficed.

I am having trouble finding my original source that said temaze was the quickest benzo to cross BBB, perhaps this is something I was wrong on.

This link suggests; "temazepam is a particularily euphoric benzodiazepine, and along with other hypnotic benzodiazepines, particularily, flunitrazepam, nitrazepam, and nimetazepam, it is considered to have the highest abuse potential of all benzodiazepines. In the UK, temazepam has superseded diazepam, nitrazepam and flurazepam as the most commonly abused benzodiazepine"

Wikipedia also states that: "Temazepam accounts for most benzodiazepine sought by forgery of prescriptions and through pharmacy burglary in Victoria.[50] Due to intravenous abuse, the Australian government decided to put it under a more restrictive schedule than it previously was,[51] and since March 2004 temazepam capsules have been withdrawn from the Australian market." and "In 1987, Temazepam was the most widely-abused legal prescription drug in the United Kingdom. The use of benzodiazepines by street drug abusers was part of a polydrug abuse pattern, but many of those entering treatment facilities were declaring temazepam as their main drug of abuse."

It is pretty clear that temazepam is considered a very worthwhile recreational drug by many, you are entitled to your own subjective opinion on this substance but your opinion doesn't instantly trump everyone else's.

IMO zolpliclone has less side effects than stilnox and lets you sleep for longer, whereas I found stilnox to cause me to wake after only 3 hours and need to redose. I had quite a high tolerance at this stage though.

Though never trying temazapam, the only time I have found benzos to be euphoric was today and that was because I was beginning to withdraw and feeling nausious and nasty. I only took 4mg of valium, and damn did it feel good when it kicked in. Only allowed another 4mg for the night though.

As a side note, i asked my doctor to put me on a reduction schedule where I have to go pick up a small script from the pharmacy every 2 days! It took me like 6 pharmacies before anyone would actually do it! And some of them were rude as. Not a particularly nice feeling being treated like a junky when you have a legit script and are going through withdrawal symptoms.

I get the same reaction from popping 2mg+ clonazepam, then the sedation seems to leave and I'm just left with the anxiolytic/calming effects.

That's terrible mate. They are not allowed to treat you like that. Go to the commissioner of health complaints in your state if you feel so strongly.

Did they give any specific reason as to why they wouldn't fill your script?

^definitely what verybuffed said! that's a crock of shit and noone should be discriminated like that at all!

mention it to your dr as well

Im from the states, but man is that awful. I would be so pissed if any doctor or pharmacy ever did that to me when I had a legitimate medical concern. tapering is very serious stuff, not filling the script could have disastrous results including seizures and serious acute pain....so wrong, sorry to hear about that

As for this thread I am Rxed 30mg of Temazepam per night and I don't know why everyone seems to be hating on it. In the right doses Restoril can be more pleasurable than Xanax. Temaz doses seem to range from 30-60mg for low tolerance users and around 60-90mg for more tolerant users. Either way it works great for getting to sleep, and thats what its made for so it does its job
