Niggers, was there sorbitol in the cough syrup? I made that mistake once.![]()
There was. Since my last post I have tried Benylin for Dry Coughs, which is all the DXM and none of the additives. So much easier on the stomach. Not really a DOC for me though; however I have found that claims of DXM reversing opiate tolerance (codeine, atleast) to have some limited degree of truth. I did a fair bit of searching on the subject and found just a few anecdotal reports and a couple of abstracts from experiments on DXM reducing morphine tolerance in mice, so I decided to give it a try myself.
I realise this is nowhere near scientific... it's basically "I took this and this happened", so take it for what you will. I felt it was worth posting. This was also after a 2 week break from codeine, so my tolerance may have waned a little from that. I normally dose 500-520mg once or twice a week, my tolerance has stayed at this level for about 2 months now. It was a sunday afternoon, so there was only one pharmacy open locally so I was limited to one pack of 32 x 8mg tablets. I also had 5 x 12mg Nurofen+ (the most I'm willing to take at once after several cases of abdo pain in the past after taking more). Equalling a total of 320mg, a dose which would get me nowhere under normal conditions (I've tried multiple times). About 30 minutes before dosing, I chugged half a 150ml bottle of Benylin, which by my calculations is around 110mg of DXM (7.5mg per 5ml). This resulted in a codeine high with an intensity very close to (if the same as) what I would get from my usual dose.
I tried this same dose again today (couldn't think of a more productive way to spend my lunch break from work) and felt hardly anything, just a little euphoria and intoxiation. In conclusion I would say it is worth experimentaion (of both the personal and scientific kind). It seemed to work well for me, and will be keeping a bottle handy from now on for when I am unable to get a full dose (though I have pods showing up sometime this week so will probably be a moot point).
