Okay, my dr put me on Avinza which is a one a day morphine ER capsle. Well she wrote the script for 30 days and then made my appointment for 36 days later. Firstly the medication is too expensive (50 dollar co-pay), it doesn't help my pain one way or the other, it causes me to scratch myself and then when I ran out I am having WD's and feel like general shit. I go in tommorow and she is pretty dead set on this medication but I don't want to take it at all. I tried it, I hate it and it's not cost effective. The only reason I am feeling semi okay right now is because I took more roxi to equal my roxi plus morphine dose.. At this point I think 30mg roxis would be better off than a long acting.... I dont know what to do... I am not trying to source here, just want some advice on how to talk to a dr that is pretty cool but thinks everything but avinza and roxi is "too addictive".... I don't "Want" morphine at all, my body is just used too it. Im not sure she understands the difference between physical dependance and "addiction". Thanks in advance...

I'd just straight out confront her that the morphine doesn't work for you, that the side effects are too much for you and it is too expensive. Don't be mean or ask for any particular medication but let her know that the last meds worked better for you. Don't bring up anything about addiction.

Thanks... I find she's a bit judgemental... thing is I am not addicted to it.... cant stand it unless they shoot me up in the hospital.. lol She just thinks Avinza is a miracle drug and it's been a pain in the ass the whole time. Now experiencing WD's because my dr didnt prescribe me the right amount of medication seems like complete bullshit to me... I still get roxi....

Should I mention the WD symptoms because of the time between appts? That is not my fault or will it make her more leary of scripting me medication at all? I don't want to lose my meds over a pill I find useless.

If you bring up withdrawals than she might think about tapering you off because doctors never like to hear that you suffer withdrawals when you are short. She may call it "addiction" due to ignorance. What you may want to say is that your original pain came back and you were really hurting. She should give you the exact amount of pills that you need until the next appt. Don't try to explain yourself too much when it comes to the medicine because she may think "addiction". (if she does she's an idiot though)

I guess I am gonna go in there and tell her it makes me feel like shit when I take it.. i tried it for a month and I dont want to take it ever again...

Frankly it's her fault for not giving me enough to last til the next apt...

what would you like her to supply? are you just geniuely looking for pain relief or sum recreational value too? if the morphine isnt working well cant see it a problem bringing it up and asking about alternative options

It's not working and it's expensive (50 a month with insurance)... because it's Avinza and there' no generic... I might as well take a tylenol cause it doesn't do shit for my pain and it caused a variety of issues like loss off appetite, headaches... all kinds of shit when I started on it. It's not worth it to me to take it... If it works and has no rec value I dont give a fuck id rather not be in pain.. but oral morphine is pointless... My dr claims *everything else is too addictive* but she gives me 150 roxicodone a month as well... It's ALL Addictive.. it's opiates... I feel like im talking to a wall when I talk to my dr... Last month she gave me a choice the fent patch or morphine.. I chose the morphine mostly because I fear the patch. I just want her to *listen* to me. Thanks for responding and sorry for the long winded rant..

Tell her that the side effects are too much for you to stand. That is the best way to get a doctors attention that is dead set on a drug of their choosing, they should switch you. Why are you afraid of the patch may I ask? Its very potent.

^I dont want to die from a faulty patch.. lol It's stupid... but it freaks me out. Pills have single doses.. that patch is 3 days of medication if it leaks it could kill me... Thats what I am afraid of... I made a new post about what happened at the drs office.. what a fucking mess.

It's not gonna leak so long as you don't poke a hole in it or something. Pretty sure their lawyers told them to make sure they don't or you're gonna spend the nexy twenty years giving depositions. Just tell them morphine makes you puke, it does alot of people.
