LBJ big decision in more ways than 1

Ok I just watched the replay again. It looked to me like defensive holding, Gamble was being held by Sharp the entire time into the end zone. He jammed him at the line and didn't let go of him the whole route. Notice after the ball was thrown but before it hit the ground Sharpe grabbed Gamble's facemask as well. That'd be an automatic first down. There could have been a number of penalities called againt Miami on that play. Besides, that didn't win the game for us or lose it for Miami, there was still more overtime after that possession.
The Buckeyes still had to score twice to win.
 
although the call is a tough one, there is no doubt that the true National Champion won that day. Miami was outclassed and out coached the entire game.

LeBron has a chance at greatness, but like I said, MJ's legacy will be intact. LBJ has the chance to win just as many rings as MJ, but unlike Jordan (and like Kobe) they will lack his immense style points.

it is a bummer it had to be this way. while it must be fun poking at the downtrodden Cleveland fans, I told everyone I wouldn't hate LBJ for leaving. however, leaving the way he did in his dog-and-pony show definitely leaves a bitter taste in my mouth.
 
So there's a guy on Twitter (yeah I said it) who posts as a fake Lebron... he posted this gem... which I personally found pretty clever. :D

KingShames: Setting your Cavs jerseys on fire won't make it look like Heat jerseys. Wait for the official release guys!

@Fiesta Bowl subplot: William Joseph deflected the pass at the line of scrimmage! Pass interference is therefore impossible. The defensive holding argument is weak. The penalty on that play should've been facemasking. Why Glen Sharpe made such a ridiculous football move eludes me (if you've played you may agree that every facemask by a skilled player is intentional; I don't remember ever grabbing someone's facemask by accident except when I was in Pop Warner).

Still though, the state of Ohio has to answer for not telling anyone on the Dolphins' squad that Tedd Ginn Jr. was a mole.

As for Ginn, well, I really don't think you can blame Ohio because the Dolphins have shitty scouts and can't make smart decisions. Ginn was great for Ohio State, being a great cf player doesn't mean they will be a great nfl player.
 
I could take that letter seriously if that 25 year old boy wasn't the uneducated, egocentric, selfish, piece of shit human being that he is. With an ego that big, I find it hard to believe that those three will be able to co-exist for terribly long.

If nothing else, I can take joy in the fact that his fleeing to a place where things will be easier and he won't be "pressured to score 30 points a game" is in itself a concession that he doesn't have what it takes to lead a team to a title. A talent like that is rare, but we see selfish assholes every day. Cleveland didn't fail to deliver him a championship any more than he failed to deliver Cleveland one. After all... HE promised the fans a title... not the Cavs.

It's called retrospective insight. This whole Lebronathon thing is what turned a shitload of naive Cavs fans into subscribers of what the rest of the nation was selling years ago. Cleveland defended him to no end, believing he was truly a one of a kind talent with good character to boot. I'll never deny his abilities are impressive, but if you're denying that his stocks in character have plummeted with the ME ME ME debacle, you're obviously wearing the same glasses we had on for the last 7 years.

Almost everyone but Cleveland hated Lebron already, so why's it such a shock that along with his talents... the fan appreciation is also harbored in Souf Beach, now?

I can really give a shit about LeBron's, or any other athlete's for that matter, character. I've never understood why our sports figures have been viewed as role models or why everyone cares about every DUI or infidelity that these guys commit. They are entertainers, and nothing else. As long as LeBron helps lead Miami to a few championships and isn't raping women or killing people, I can give a flying fuck what else he does off the court. I see no need to defend him for "The Decision" or leaving behind his hometown, because I am only interested in the fact that the Heat will be winners again because of him. I just don't care how much the nation hates him. Actually, I love it. I am a fan of The U after all, and being hated is kind of our thing. If nobody hates you then you aren't doing it right.

I still can't believe it. LeBron, Wade, and Bosh all on the same team. The team I've rooted for. This is a fans dream come true.
 
I respect your opinion, but I'll elaborate, simply for clarity. It's not that I think they should be role models per se... but rather my principals prevent me from being able to root for someone who's a complete prick off the court. Besides that... while I'm not looking at them to influence my every day actions... some people (young kids) are and for that reason... knowing that whether they like it or not, they ARE role models... they should ACT like role models. They get paid millions of dollars to not only perform, but to present an image and a standard, it's not solely about what they do ON the field of play.

Edit: Oh and I should add... I would consider selling out my principals if it meant bringing a championship to Cleveland. :D

and Ryan in all honesty I really thought LeBron was headed to Chi-town. I'll gladly wait and see, than a gloat at Cleveland's suffering

No, they get paid to perform. It's only when your not performing that you stop receiving money. The media has constructed this whole role model concept. All the athletes we look at or have looked at as high quality guys in the past have done some pretty scummy things in their life. Muhammad Ali, Lawrence Taylor, Magic Johnson - none of these guys were clean.

If you have kids, raise them not to look at athletes as role models. Kids only look up to them cause it's how they're taught. It doesn't have to be that way. I never once looked to an athlete and decided I wanted to be like them, or even meet them. I've seen plenty of my favorite athletes of all time in every day situations and the thought of even saying hello to them never even crossed my mind. The one exception to this rule would be Ricky Williams, but that is for reasons entirely unrelated to football. I actually think he would be an interesting person to have a conversation with (not to be like, just to be clear).

Thanks, Crow. And part of my butthurtness comes from the fact that I know a team like this can't abstain from a title for TOO long. Does that guarantee them a championship? No, but it's hard to imagine them not getting a couple. Which makes all this even worse because no matter how upset I am at how everything has been handled... he'll ultimately get the last laugh and that's the hardest pill to swallow.

As for the article... I've read a good few of them over the last week, but this is the first one that I felt I actually got a respectful opinion out of. It was a long article, but well worth the read, IMO.

Right...which means (to me) 5 straight championships are essentially necessary to be given that title.

Otherwise...if they don't become the greatest ever...then there will always be a hint of disappointment when discussing this team.

This is basically the only redeeming quality of Lebron's decision...giving up the goal of being the greatest player ever and shifting it to be on the greatest team ever.

Of course the flip side is Lebron is choosing the path of least resistance and isn't willing to shoulder the responsibility of being the central leader of a championship-contending team. Instead he picks a team where he has two other guys to shoulder the blame with, which seems like a cop out considering Lebron's hyped talent.

exactly the crux of my Lebron-has-failed-me stance.

many Ohioans assumed that the King was leaving, we just didn't know he was this soft. LBJ used to be a douche-nozzle. but he was my douche-nozzle. now he is just a douche-nozzle.

oh well, while Lebron goes South for the next NBA season, it looks like West is still riding his mom
 
LeBron will never be remembered like Michael Jordan was.
So, RyanLaughlin in particular, I wouldn't worry too much about it, even if he does win a few championships.
No one in their right mind would ever mock Michael Jordan for ANYTHING that he did. I don't care how flashy or big his brand got, he was still THE man at the end of the day. He still WILL dominate you at every opportunity, and at both ends of the court, even into his 40's, and ESPECIALLY when it matters most. LeBron isn't the man, wasn't the man, and never will be THE man.
Also, LeBron called himself the "King" when he was still in high school, and gave himself the number 23.
There's just so much material to mock him about it's a shame he is who he is because he's SO damn good. We'll see how this view of him changes as he soon as he starts winning championships though.

I think a reason why he didn't go to Chicago was to avoid the inescapable shadow of Jordan, and he knows he's not as good.
