Smoking Hash?

I've been smoking weed fairly regular over the past few years and have recently acquired myself some hash.

I was inquiring as to what differences i should expect from hash when comparing it to normal bud and also which method of smoking/eating would produce the highest safest high?
 
There are many many ways of smoking hash my man

I usually just sprinkle the goods through a joint or a mix, but when friends are over I love to break out the chillum (clay pipe), which is a traditional way of smoking hash and my personal favorite.

A lot of people recommend hot knifing. This can be a pain when you're toasted so I scrap this idea all together.

Have a play around and you will soon work out your preferred method.

I usually crumble it on top of a half packed cone in bongs or hashpipes and smoke it like that. It goes alright in a joint if it is quality shit and you don't have high tolerance but ime/o joints are quite a waste of THC, especially in a rarer form such as hashish.

I can vouch for hot knifing as an effective means to consume cannabis, but I have only spotted bits of bud. It gives a very good high in my experience but there is alot of potential to hurt yourself, especially if you aren't so tolerant to weed and start to get hell faded. Obviously this method is quite a bit of hassle. They love spots in NZ and I had a kiwi mate who kept a portable stove in his car so he could do spots anywhere. I don't reccomend smoking and driving ;) but if you live at home and can't really use the stove a cheap camping stove is a good alternative and works fine. :)

In the UK they do something interesting where they have a like metal wire and put some on the end with the hash hanging in the air, heat up the metal wire/hash till it starts to burn then turn a glass upside down over it till it fills with smoke. Then they put their mouth next to the glass, tilt it slightly and inhale. I saw them do it in some cheap UK film, it might of been called 'Headrush'. Also my mum told me she did it like that on one of the very few occassions she tried hashish. I have always considered this a novel and interesting way to smoke it and would like to try it one day, as it is really the only way of smoking you can do with hash you couldn't just do with buds anyway.

I prefer joints personally but as I don't smoke tobacco it is a fine line for me how heavy the mix is before I feel sick from it. Far easier to just smoke it through a pipe with a good screen or a red bull can with just a few pin holes poked in it.

tell me more about this headrush! is it a similar concept in you place the hash on a surface then heat the wire and touch it to the hash, capturing the smoke in a container held above it?
 
do the headrush man!!! it's the most effective method of smoking hash. but use a straw to inhale.
 
Madswagga headrush was the movie I saw it done in first. You have pretty much described it exactly, when I have seen and heard of it people always used an upside down glass but I am sure any container will work.

Never seen or heard of a straw being used but I imagine it would be on par with ot using one, maybe slightly better.
 
Sweet. I may try the glass method if I can be bothered. I remember watching a video on youtube ages ago where they were smoking something exactly they way you described d_m but they were inhaling with a straw. Back then I had no idea what it was though . I've also heard smoking hash through a bong can be harsh as fuck on the lungs.

So I gather the effects aren't very different from smoking bud, just a bit heavier?
 
many ways to have ...

sprinkle a lilttle on top of cone ...

roll a little ball the size of a match head and put on end of a needle and light it let it catch fire .. blow it out and put close to your mouth and breathe in the smoke .. use a straw if you want ..

cooking with it .. make hash cookies ...
 
Ended up smoking it the way a mate showed me.

- get a small plastic bottle, melt a hole in it like you would for a bong if you were gonna put a hose in there

- dab a lit ciggy on a tiny ball of hash and stick it inside the bottle through the hole, covering it with your hand and making it as airtight as possible

- once the bottle is full with smoke or the hash has completely burnt out take the lid (or hand) off the top of the bottle and inhale =D

i found the high very nice, it was only intense for the first half an hour or so and then it mellowed out for next few hours with a pleasant body buzz. In comparison to smoking weed through a bong there was a surprising amount of clarity; also right now i don't feel like shit or really tired like i usually would from smoking cones.

Not sure if this method was the most efficient but it definitely worked, might try the others when i do it again.

^ I believe thats whats known as a 'shotty' in the UK mate and from what I have read it is an efficient way to get high.

Demanufacturer ime the effects of hash can vary, just as various psychoactives occur in different types of weed in didferent ratios the same could be said of the cannabanoids in hash. I have had clear headed and sort of trippy hash as well as very couch lock type stoney hash. Much like the many varieties of weed, if you compare the extremes on each side of the scale there can be considerable variation in the high it gives.
 
In Israel a lot of people like to take a glass pop bottle, 1 liter size, using a glass cutter, cut the bottle directly at midpoint so you have a top and a bottom.

You take a tiny bit of hash, we usually use half of a fingernail in size. Then we do it like this:

1) Taking a heat source, stove, campfire, and so on, heat a small skillet until it is throughly red hot.

2) Put the half a fingernail of hash on the skillet's centre

3) As soon as you see smoke being produced you put the top half of the bottle over it and leave it, thumb used as a carbueratour over the bottle's spout, moving your thumb as needed to keep the hash burning.

4) When you have enough you put your mouth on the spout, actually a great way to smoke.

Water pipes are used a lot, of course, but you see mainly old men doing that. Apples and even pears CAN be used, cupping but these 3 are only used by the truly desperate because it is so wasteful and the price is now high and availability of hash low since kids started aping Americans with hydroponically grown cannabis and boutique varieties.

I am actually in the hash capitol of SE Asia at the moment, Sagada on the Philippine island of Luzon. Here they don't know very much about consumption so they just smoke it in tobacco cigarettes as Israelis used to do until the end of the 1980s.Tourists make bongs of course but there isn't a whole lof plastic in this nation, I have seen a decent amount of wooden pipes.

I am content with hash oil this week though I will probablly have 2 kilos of cream black delivered in which case I will cut a couple of bottles.
 
Demanufacturer - you didn't mention what type of hash you have and most of the respondents are assuming you have 'putty' or something pliable. There is abundant sticky black Afghani where I work ATM and I usually roll out a match-stick sized 'worm', nick it into 2-3 mm pieces and smoke a dozen or so through a small water pipe or long-stemmed bird's-bill pipe as the locals do here. Its economical and efficient but takes a few minutes to prep. Otherwise, we'll 'burn the worm' in a similar but simpler fashion to drug_mentor's method.

Get a glass, rip the free end off a cigarette so that it can be slid sideways a few centimetres down into a tall glass. Then, roll out a thin 'worm'. Use a match to force a side-ways hole though the cigarette towards the filter and insert one end of your worm. Now give it a gentle squeeze and the worm will stay put. Light the free end and let it flame for a tick before blowing it out and sliding ciggy into the glass. Now slip a coaster over the top and when the glass fills with smoke slide the coaster back a little and breathe deep. Your worm may smoulder all the way up to the ciggy or need regular relighting, but this will be influenced by the thickness of the worm or how oily or fresh your hash is.

Now, if you've got hold of some dry-pressed Morroc then that's another story :) Enjoy!
 
hot knifes

get foil. create funnel with foil.

get butter knife. wrap the handle with a tea towel/cloth. Place knife on oven hot plate/gas flame.

wait till it gets really hot. place hash on knife. hash will ignite. smoke will appear, place funnel above, smoke, inhale.

or if your that poor, can you forgo the funnel and just try to catch the smoke.

nicest of all highs hash is, just like flying and i suspect probably far better on your lungs.
