SO I'm hooked on like 6 oxy 10/650 per day for over a month now and I'm trying to stop. I noticed that tramadol really helps the w/d... A LOT. I'm wondering if I take trams for like 3 or 4 days instead of the oc and then stop will I have pretty much avoided the w/d. Like will it do a sub type thing bc it's a different form of opiate??? or will I be just as sick? I know if I take the trams too long I have those to contend with as well. Any good info will be greatly appreciated. My body hurts and I need to chill...

If.the tramadol works well for you, then go with the 4 or 5 days you are thinking. Tramadol is addictive itself, as you already noted, so be careful and good luck.
Btw, I'm on Percocet 10/325 with the same dose of 6 a day, herniated disc from May. Just found that coincidental, and worthy of a comment!

Its hard to completely avoid w/d's all together...eventually they usually catch up with you no matter what you replace your DOC with. Plus, as was said, Ultram itself has a nasty w/d and is addictive as well, so tread carefully. Have you tried a slow taper program?

I was thinking of switching right over to the trams completelty and then take 3 or 4 a day. Then take one less every few days and then none. I'm thinking that I'm prob gonna get sick no matter what but it will be easier this way...plus it's free this way ;) I might even take it so slow that I end up taking a half a day before coming completely off...that is as long as I don't feel like shit in the process. If I feel like shit I prob need to just deal with it right then and there so I don't extend the w/d waaaaay out. that would suck. What do u guys think is worse...tramadol or oxycodone w/d???

most people say oxycodone, some may say say Tramadol but ONLY due to the fact that there is an Snri component to the withdrawal as well as mild opiate wd, as far as straight opiates withdrawal Oxy is going to be Much worse.

yea...that's why I'm thinking on switching right over to the trams and tapering right down...+ it'll be easier bc I only kind of enjoy the trams and there's no apap involved :p
