Ok let me set the stage. I went to my phych last week and he gave me chlonaz, zopiclone, and prozac. I went in filled the scrips for the chlonaz, zopiclone but left the prozac as I didn't want any yet. I went to a walk in clinic doctor days later since my phych wouldn't give me anything for panic attacks which I do get. The walk in clinic doctor gave me diazepam.

A few days later I went to the same pharmacy and filled that prescription. After some typing the pharmacist asked if my doctors knew I was going to each other. I said yes and he punched in some stuff and said wait 15 minutes. I waited and after 15 minutes I returned to the desk and felt I had to explain myself. I told him the one doctor did not give me panic attack medicine thus why I had to go to the other doctor. He seemed satisfied and gave me my pills.

My question is will he call the doctors to confirm this knowledge of them knowing about each other? What kind of trouble am I looking at if he does this (live in Canada). Thanks

What you did is basically doctor shopping, you could get in a lot of trouble for it.

u wont get in legal trouble , ur only a patient shit for all the legal system knows is that u didnt know u couldnt get 2 diff benzos from diff docs, just black listed in ur area by docs

Yes you doctor shopped, although since benzos are not as tightly regulated as pain meds/opiates you should be fine legaly,Altho i do not know the laws in Canada. As for me I used to doctor shop all the time for schedule 2 and 3 opiates, and I crossed state lines doing so ,which when I was finally caught by a few doctors made it a big deal and blacklisted me and because I had crossed state lines to go to a doctor and got schedule 2 opiates(OxyContin), apparently the DEA was informed by some asshole doctor, and luckily one of the doctors who blacklisted me , told the DEA however the hell it works, that he put me through a detox program. That kept the DEA or how the hell ever from prosecuting me for a federal felony(apparently crossing state lines to get those meds was a felony since I had scripts from other doctors, and crossing state lines in the commision of a felony,is a federal crime(felony) and those damn DEA feds, nazi bastards were trying to get me on a federal charge of crossing state lines in commison of a felony and obtaining schedule 2 drugs by fraud(even tho I did not try any fraud,I just asked for pain meds and the doctor wrote a script)Anyway lesson learned be sure to not doctor shope and if you do don't do it in another state.I got lucky that one doctors sister works under my dad,he is her boss and could fire her ass for no reason so I think thats why the doctor "helped me out" ...

Well for 1, your psych doctor who you went to first already gave you a benzo (Clonazepam) which has a long half life, so if you start on that that will reduce your panic attacks greatly. Also he prescribed a Z-Drug (Zopiclone) most doctors won't prescribe both like that, you are pretty lucky.

Why would you go and get another benzo from another doctor? Especially Diazepam, IMO the most useless weakest benzo on the planet. 8)

If you never signed a agreement with ur psych that you wouldnt get meds from anyoen else

It doesn't matter

Doctor shopping really isn't enforced (as much) if insurance is not involved.

Those contracts don't mean jack shit, they're just used to make sure that patients understand what they can/cannot do upfront. They aren't like legally binding or anything.

You're obligated to inform your doctor of controlled substances that other docs have prescribed to you

I saw a tv show a whilst back concerning 'doctor shopping', an American thing. (no way you could do this in the UK).

Apparently yanks of all ages book themseves places on flights to Florida from all over the place cos the place to doctorshop is FLORIDA. some may greyhound it,
whatever. These trips are only meant for this in all but name. Because Florida pharmacies will prescribe what you want at a price..oxycodone, hydro, morphine, didaud etc. Then they'll go back to the midwest, Canada Wherever. And then some are kept for thenselves, but there is also a lucrative blackmarket in flogging these drugs on,mainly done by the pill. A roxycodone, 1 pill cost $80

Average 'offendor' (seller) makes a few for his next 'short break', penalty for an old man cought selling oxy or whatever-20yrs or so. Something fundamentally wrong there.......

A roxycodone, 1 pill cost $80

lol no... the highest prices I have ever heard of in the US is $1.50 per MG

the highest dose of roxi is 30mg... thats nowhere near $80

I have heard of Oxycodone 80s going for $80 a piece.. but NEVER roxis

I wish they did.. I would be a rich man

anyway reguarding the OPs question...

your not going to get in any legal trouble the first time.. especially for benzos.. but yes the pharmacy can call both DR's to confirm, and yes you can get blacklisted to the point where any Dr you go to will refuse to perscribe you anything besides prozac and tramadol

I have done this quite a bit for opiates... I had a close call however when a vigilate pharmacist in another state called my main Dr to verify (I didnt realize the walgreens computers could see accross state lines, and it was the only pharmacy that was open at the time)

I cleverly came up with a bullshit ass story and got off.. but I stopped shopping that day because I dont want to fuck up my gold every month.

this

you should have both doctors aware of each other as to not pick up the drug seeker label.

anyway, these sorts of questions are against our guidelines as they lead to doctor shopping discussion as already happened.
