Glasses affecting visuals

What do you guys think? would somebody who wears glasses or even contacts have different or less, or even no visuals at all? Anybody here wear glasses and want to give us some insight about whether or not things are different if you have the glasses on or take them off or choose to wear contacts instead?

Thia all came up as I was tripping on acid with some friends. Well for one friend it was his first time and he said for most of the trip he got no visuals at all, that occasionally he would get shadow play or light would do funny things but that was about it. He wears glasses and I got to thinking, what if the glasses affected the trip? Nobody else I know that does psychs also wears glasses or contacts. It could have also been that he was unlucky and got a much smaller dose than us, but he still felt other affects of the LSD.

Thoughts? Knowledge? Tacos?

I didn't think that it really would but it was a curious thought. Where do you live in Fl ChinaMayne? I also live in this hot ass state. pm if you don't feel like saying it here, considering this post makes 50
WWWWWWWHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

I wear glasses and although i do notice a slight blurriness and feeling of my eyes being out of focus while on mushrooms, but no lack of visuals.

not too far from me ChinaMayne, I'm in Tampa, it's pretty fail over here

I wear glasses, and I still get visuals. When I leave the house I don't wear my glasses, and I have astigmatism in both my eyes so I get tracers off of weed. Shrooms and Acid are both fun with my glasses off, only came down on both with my glasses on. (I have a really bad prescription but I don't like my glasses).

i wear contacts and if anything tripping makes my vision better and sharper.

In my experience, glasses only effect the clarity of my visual field during a trip, not the intensity of the OEVs.

It always strikes me as odd that one would need glasses when tripping--it almost implies that what you are seeing is actually in front of you. On the other hand, it could be that vision impairment is less a physical condition then a mental one--before you experience the object in front of you, your mind inhibits your ability to see it clearly. Mind you, while any habitual unconscious occurrence of this sort would certainly produce a physical impairment, one still might be under the impression that some mental process (i.e. thought pattern, emotional trauma) initiated the deficiency. lmk if I'm completely off on this one. that was 100% speculative and i know nothing about how vision works in the human subject.

What are other people's thoughts on the subject? Are OEVs projected from our being or do we experience them from an external source that we have access to under the influence of a psychedelic? What does that say about the source of poor/weakening eyesight?

and per the question about your friend not getting visuals...i'd say its less related to his glasses then his state of mind. it took me many journeys with LSD before I allowed myself to experience OEVs. Some people try so hard to see them that they end up seeing nothing at all.

nice thoughts, nagin, I'm not sure what to think about the vision thing quite honestly, it's a bit odd to think of.

as for my friend I think it was either a lower dose for some reason, or possibly reluctance. When he first did MDMA it was with a group of the same exact people, we love to have fun together. but we all were coming up pretty fast but he claimed he was feeling nothing yet which was such bullshit and we all knew it, he was dancin around, movin constantly, etc. Then when we were all blowin the fuck up he was like "okay, oh my god this is great"

Having glasses actually makes my visuals even more interesting. When I'm wearing my glasses I get regular OEVs just like someone with 20/20 vision does, now when I take them off I see some really interesting, but completely different visuals, I'll give you an example.

Sober in forest/woods:
Glasses: Beautiful place, can see the detail in all the trees, really nice, really light
No glasses: Big colourful blur

Tripping in forest/woods:
Glasses: So beautiful, the leaves and trees are dancing and melting into each other, I can see new plants growing, everything has a glow and blur to it
No glasses: A kaleidoscope of colours, it is blurred like when I normally have my glasses off but it breaks up into coloured sections like a kaleidoscope or coloured bubbles, looks really weird and interesting

I wear glasses and I hallucinate just fine. If I take them off I still see "shit' but everything else is blurry as hell. I don`t think glasses have anything to do with it.

yeah I get much more beautiful visuals with glasses, with them off is cool too though because I get tons of patterns in the blur and it seems like my mind will randomly take guesses at the details behind the blur which is neat to watch.

A theory I had to why I didn't get nearly as many visuals as others when I first took psychedelics was that maybe because I have lived with semi-blurry vision pretty much since birth my visual cortex was not as strengthened as people without glasses who take in much more visual data on a daily basis.... I know for certain that with my glasses on I am constantly in awe of how crisp and beautiful everything is and that hasn't gone away yet. Most people are used to it I guess, which makes me think they could possibly get more or even less visuals.

I once put on someone's glasses while tripping and I personally do nót need glasses. It was quite weird since it made all my visuals blurry, but the interesting part about visuals is that they seem to adapt to the blurriness and I got new types of visuals in that blurry mass after a while.

To answer your question; the friend with glasses (quite strong too) has perfectly normal visuals while wearing her glasses.

I'm the only member of my family, both close and extended to not need glasses of any sort so far. I often wonder if I flex my lenses out more with all the tripping and stuff. Many of these substances dilate the pupils...I wonder if that helps with lens flexing and what not. I know in the very least that staring at the people in the carpet can not only lead you to getting fuzz accidentally up yer nose, but it flexes your lens, and if you then instead focus on the hieroglyphs in the clouds instead, then your lens will loosen. I do that exercise all the time lol. Focus in tight, focus far off. I'm the only one in my family without glasses so I think it works.

Anytime I wear glasses, I stare at the frames. I don't try to. I just can't stop seeing them. I sometimes wonder if glasses make people see things as if in a box like tv is. Like on a screen almost. I know when I wear sun glasses during a performance on stage, I am much more in control and confident of what I am doing because the overall visual input is reduced and framed for me. The eyes are weird things to put frames around, but we do it in so many different ways. I can't imagine having glasses and not tripping off them on a regular basis, just by staring at off angles thru the lenses and stuff. Maybe I am too much of a kid.
