Benzos help with benzo withdrawal.. desperate

find a doc that will taper you VERY SLOWLY

A) the slower the better as far as long term post withdrawal symptoms, including your psychotic symptoms (w/d as you know is very stimulating, i'm in kpin w/d right now and i can see why people lose wives/jobs/lives and why people crack... the body can't use up all its reserves and keep its metabolism high and not sleep forever)

B) it is possible to go so slow (take off an eighth of a pill or something, i don't know what mg your pills are, every month... that's really slow i know, but if you need to go that slow then you need to) that your heart rate increases a couple beats for two weeks when you adjust but you don't feel the difference at all in your head. keep in mind the nearer you are to zero mg, the smaller the taper increments

do you use alcohol or any other GABA drugs? how long was your first addiction? each withdrawal will be harder than the previous, it's something about "kindling" and "sensitization" (read in wiki, don't know the term). any use of alcohol or ambien or other gaba-ergics will mess up your w/d by causing rebound

I use a tincture with alcohol in it occasionaly. My first addiction was 1.5 years of klonopin. I will take your advice and go slow. I hope my doctor lets me. I am gonna try neurontin. I gotta work on keeping friends/girlfriend while doing this so it is hard. Hopefully they can support me. I am getting mild hallucinations now, like seeing faces/patterns, nothing psychotic closer to hppd shit. I must get through this somehow.

the withdrawal just hit hard. i think im gonna have to up to 15 mg. cant take this.

Holy Shit.!! Your Doc should of weaned you off benzos slowly. You have me confused ..are you totally off benzos? You said you took a klonopin earlier? So are you all out or do you have a few left? If you are all out go to the Emergency Room!! You should never go cold turkey off benzos. Withdrawal from a strong benzo can lead to DEATH!! I am not try'n to scare you "This is Fact". You don't need insurance for the E.R. ..a ER Doc should give you something to take the edge off so you can sleep. I had to do this back in 96' from xanax withdrawal.

nah im on 10 mg of lib now. im trying to maintain. it is so hard. i actually wrote that original topic message on benzowithdrawal.com a week or two ago, i just didnt have the strength to retype something. been klonopin free for a week, just maintaining librium. god i hope neurontin works. I may need to up to 15 i cant be feelin like this all the time at this point in my life. i had gotten outta hell. and nobody i know understands.l they all think im being a bitch. this is enough to bring anyone to their knees, this withdrawal gets to be what if eel hell would be like. in the mind. and sometimes added hallucinations to make you feel like you are actually there. i feel much better now that i had my 10 mg of poison, not great but calmer. now just chest pain and muscle aches

Although benzos can be used to help the DT's of alcohol W/D, unfortunately the reverse is not the case...:\

Lyrica is a much better choice than neurontin, although in a pinch it will help.

I'm sorry to say that the slow taper method (as stated), w/ as long of a half-life benzo that you can find (I prefer diazepam, but everyone's different) is the best way to get off of them.

Some very good replies in this thread, though, and I'm glad to see OD still kicking arse and taking names! %)

Im glad to see that people actually care. I guess you have to have gone through hell to have compassion. If lyrica will work better than sure Ill try it. I just have had experience with neurontin (not for benzo withdrawal, just tried it once) and know that i react fine to it and it elped me sleep. but if lyrica will work too than great. ill gain a little weight to escape this.

Hey man, I wish you the best of luck! I hope everything works out for you in the end.

I myself have been taking around .5mg - 1mg of Klonopin daily for about a year now. I'm too afraid to stop at this point. Does anyone know what the W/D's from the amount I'm on would be like? I'm going to have to get some Valium and start tapering soon, but will I have seizures and all that?

Sorry, I don't want to hi-jack the thread, just a question.

assuming you're smart with dosing and timing, a little cash for a bottle of liquor or case of beers is all you need to make it till your next refill without the system seeing you as a druggy. their cross tolerance and similar effects makes you comfortable but still feels weird since your receptors are in an odd equilibrium a bit

if your dose is rather high, go to the ER if the pharmacy treats you like an addict and won't do anything (i've been able to get a weeks worth early once) or your doc won't give you any

if you can spread out what you have left and take half your amount each day, you could use cimetidine from the pharmacy to potentiate it via metabolism

There is some pretty solid advice up here that I can say from my own experience work(ed) for me. Stay safe, take it easy, slow taper, and you'll be alright. Be careful not to substitute similar drugs as you will just exacerbate the process.

Not sure if this is the best advice nor do I know where the OP is from...

but how about giving phenazepam a shot? It has a long half life, and is available in the states. If you use this responsibly only to taper, maybe it'll help?

Sorry, I'm not too experienced and if this is a stupid suggestion please call me out on it.

to the guy on .5-1 mg, i really think it depends on your sensitivity. I've only been on benzos a month at moderate doses and im experiencing hell, but I am also hypersensitive. I doubt you will have seizures.

Thanks for all the advice guys. I slept a few hours last night. Im gonna try to stick to ten until i see the doc and hope he puts me on lyrica, which after i will slowly taper to 0 lib and just stay on the lyrica cause at this point i dont give a shit. I'm also on geodon, which is near impossible to get off, so that is my excuse for being reliant on medicines. Just so you know geodon is an anti-psychotic that will make you psychotic if you stop it, regardless of your mental history. I'm so tired. I miss when I used to be able to sleep til 8 am.

does anyone know when I can expect to feel any better? Im still on 10 mg and my mind and body do not seem to have adjusted to it. IM shaking, in pain, scared, depressed, and am very foggy and not thinking clearly.

Hi. I am still on benzos so I am functional enough to type, but i experienced the withdrawal last night and I am not strong enough right now to handle it. 3 years ago I was on klonopin for a year. I got off of it and ended up having psychotic symptoms for a whole year after. Now 2 years after that terrible detox i got myself back on, starting with ativan. I started 3 or 4 times a week and you know how it is, got that benzo memory, and started taking them back to back without realizing it. welp ended up addicted. this was about a month ago. So then they put me on librium to get off. They also switched blood pressure medicines, meaning i was having intense panic and palpitations so id take way more librium than i was supposed to without realizing it. I was a mess. Now my doc tried to detox me with giving me 25 mg of librium a day. I was taking about 50 mg, along with the occasional klonopin. I didnt sleep at all last night, and was near mental breakdown, as I am today. I took a klonopin this morning because I am so hopeless. Just a few hours of peace you know? Ive gotten 3 hours of sleep now. I am getting sweats and chills now. last time i withdrew from klonopin i was on so much psych medication that i could sleep. now is not the case. I cant go weeks without sleeping. one night without sleeping makes me very, very paranoid and delusional. I need help. I don't have the strength for this. I've just been crying and wanting it to end. My life was getting better for the first time in 15 years. (im 20 now, ive lived a miserable, miserable life) and i messed it all up. What can I do to sleep? Amytjomg? Please help trazadone didnt do anything. IM down to 10-15 mg of librium a day and it is hell. My doctor offered me lyrica/neurontin but I wanna know if you guys have any experiences with them. My doc is at a rehab so he wont even give me baclofen, so barbs are outta the question. What can I do?

Go to a doctor....a different one....if its an emergency you know where, and get on DIAZAPAM (Valium) This is the benzo often used for tapering. Librium has a very long halflife, the longest, then valium, that may have been his thinking....but...wow, doctors these days.

Research shows that a patient should, if self tapering , work out something with their doctor they can both agree on. Take as long as the patient wants, and never increase dosage. You simply cannot go from 25mg - 50mg - 10/15mg of librium which is quite weak as it is for the duration of your benzo usage and the type you used. In rehab they may make what seems to be dramatic dose changes but theyre checking your vitals everyday, and they have expierience. Yes i know lyrica and neurotonin, they also affect your GABA receptors, but they wont stop something from happening if it is going to happen. it is really used as an anti anxiety aid, but it can't be what you are ultimately relying on. They are nerve pain meds by the way. Him giving your barbs was def not gonna happen. So.... either buy from friends whatever you can get (valium, klonpin are optimal), get a new doctor....play it by ear.

I read your last post; go to wikipedia, type in any benzo...ativan is fine. Look at w/d duration; also...check out benzodiazapine withdrawal syndrome (which hopefully you do not have). Also...correct me if i'm wrong, but you dont really feel something like a seizure coming on, it just sorta starts happening, so do what YOU think is best for YOUR self interest

Thanks man hopefully this doctor i have now will listen and take it slow with me cause i dont have any others on my insurance. got no money, really. He suggested lyrica, but I dont see him til thursday. Ive been on 10 for over a week and im not withdrawing as bad as some people. It is pretty rough but ive had worse when i was tapered off having taken 3-6 mg of klonopin for almost 2 years in 2 weeks. That is what i get for going to a mental hospital. like they give a shit.

Well ya know, play it safe. If you add, you are extending things. However if you really feel like something is not right then do something. Benzo w/d is gonna feel crappy, its your level of discomfort that just ask yourself, would someone else go, or do I just want benzos to stop feeling crappy? Lyrica can be an aid sure, to ease some discomfort.

What insurance do you have? there is usually a plethora of doctors to choose from. but anyways, goodluck man.
