thats a great idea using hair clips to keep it up/steady. used to use tie strings for something else growing..

even if it didn't bloom that is a good looking flower still. and i would proudly put that on my desk

and thanks guys :) and no woa haaaha unless youre a girl then I can say sure without feeling like a dick

here we go, one of the first two flowers...:)

the thing that really gets them to pop off are warm days and chilly nights, like 25° drops.

i took this with my phone cam, that yellow is hard to contain, i have a bright "blue light" near that adds to its brightness in the lens...

There are a couple of me.

Hopefully the second one will cheer at least one person up, seriously.

:D

When times were happier and I was still alive......
Funny.... My life back then feels like a movie I watched once.

(I'm sorry for the pic size, if it bothers ppl I'll resize them np)

Me on my M249 near Balad, Iraq.... and in Kuwait, getting ready to go over the berm with my convoy. Yes, it was COLD then.

My beloved SantaCruz Nomad..... since stolen and likely parted-out.

And the Niederburg und Oberburg ruins in Germany, for good measure. I loved being there.....

And me now. Plus when my backpiece was new. LOL

Great to see some new faces!!

Ixchellian, that's a nice bike you had man, RIP :(
And I LOVE that photo of the ruins in Germany! Incredible <3

burntserkits, you look very kind :)

pip that orchid is amazing! I can't wait to see it in full bloom.

Neo-Thanks <3 I'm totally harmless ;)

If you look closely in my pic you can see that I have nearly 1" stretched earlobes and 4 gauge conch piercing in left ear...

Oh... it was.... riding it downhill was like, to quote an appropriate movie, "floatin' on a big cloud o' titties'". I used over $5k of my reenlistment bonus to buy & build that bike myself.

If ya'll wanna see more Germany pics, I got a bunch. Ruins-crawling was like my hobby (besides tearing downhill on my Nomad :D )

I agree. There is something about you burntskerkits that seems soothing.
Kinda like the feeling that I got from guy that did my piercing there was something so zen about him although he looked "scary" all tattooed and pierced and stuff.
But I'm certainly not implying that you look scary. :D

It was my dream-bike...

Ask, and so ye shall..... :D

(Note: I've forgotten some of the names of these places, but when I remember them I'll post em.)
And more as I resize & load 'em. I lost at least a thousand pictures when my laptop & spare hard-drive were stolen last year.

I love America, and I've laid down my life for her.... but I'm also a 2nd-gen American-German, so I still have strong roots over there. And for sheer history, Europe has it in spades. I'm a historian & photographer anyways, so I was in heaven during those four years. Plus this was before I became a junky, and I was a *huge* beer enthusiast. **grin**
My time in Germany also happened to be the best years of my marriage, but that's neither here nor there. :P

If anyone has any questions about any of these places, or Germany in general, I'd be more than happy to elaborate. My memory is still pretty strong about them. :)

Note: Most of these places are in the Pfalz mountains. Heidelburg is on the edge of the Odenwald, over on the other side of the Rhine valley near Mannheim.

Altdahn (actually 3 different ruins) & Neudahn ruins (w/ exwife :c ), Dahn, sud Pfalzischwald

Hardenburg ruins, Bad Durkheim
(This place is worth a trip to Germany in of itself, and are the largest accessible ruins in the country. I went there at least a dozen times over the 4 years I was in Germany.)

Rothenburg a.d. Tauber
(actually a city, but has the only surviving original ring-wall in Germany. Also the famous "Christmas" town)

(Note: boiling oil was poured onto attackers through the face above the gate. Yes, that's actually oil stains.)

Schloss Marksburg
(The only original undestroyed castle in Germany. Also the seat of the German Castle/Ruin Preservation Cabinet)

Castle7Marksburg.jpg

This place is a gasthaus/inn that was built in 1570 (IIRC). We stayed three nights in the top front room for 40-euro a night, breakfast included! The Eck-Fritz was definitely the best guest-house I ever stayed in, and the Marksburg is just above the town which is situated on the Rhine near Koblenz. I have so many stories from this place..... it was damn near magical.

Ruins above Nothweiler. There are many cliff-top castle ruins in the southern Pfalz/Alsace mountains.

gorgeous,,, i have equal obsessions with ireland and old world france.

of course the first thing i notice besides the landscapes and eye for juxtaposing, way the war time or "junkie"stare, the crook of your arm, then bad ass tromping bike.

some one was posting pictures of camel spiders, some became curious!?! some ran!! others didn't believe, and i don't think their ' burrowing ' tendencies were brought up!
;)

i will add NSFW tags or tag to your, art, so it doesnt slow the page,& more pics can fit.

oh, and think you for doing what was needed for us..!
i know lots of guys thought we (liberals?) dishonored or do not appreciate their service. no, my wife and i watch various personal videos from over there, and it is either the guys playing around with the kids , or its full on. i understand that for those filming or playing with the kids in the streets, its full on all of the time.
although i live in chronic pain and psychosis, that all falls back when i really think of my lil bro in law, and his friends out there, full on all the time.

he is spending much time in germany, doing the same, seeing the world i nstead of the floor of a bar, getting in fights (young turkish men) etc. we took him out of the nest when his parents left, lots of resentment lots towards me, lots of infer coiling and identity crisis feeling, you know 18-2?... and now, that's where he became a man.

/aaaand rant over.
