[Recruiting] Need a new enthusiastic person to be moderator of CD

Bump. Looks like we will be bringing on two new moderators, get those apps in! About two weeks left
 
I know, but then its not as special... and maybe they might think you are developing a crush on them or something and think you're weird. Then you would have to take it back cuz your not friends anymore and by then its too late because now they are a mod and can like beat you up and stuff.
 
Not to committ douche-baggery, here...but what exactly is the point of this thread?

If we're not allowed to nominate folks, submit resumes, or critique candidates, then what the devil are we doing here???
 
Well I assume this could be stickied with no replies allowed, if that's what you wanted instead. Guess it would make more sense, eh?

I suppose that would make more sense...IF they insisted on sticking with the current rules.


However, I think it would be wayyyy cooler if we were allowed to nominate folks, submit resumes, and critique candidates. Think about it: There could even be polls or votes. Staff is all the time muscling their way around this joint, but with two open positions, staff could still pick one poster, but the other poster could be the "people's moderator".

I don't mind the idea of nominating, and we can already submit resumes, just via PM is all. Critiquing would probably get ugly, knowing us folks :P

I kinda like the idea, but BL is no democracy eh? I don't know of any large forums where a mod is elected because that opens up a lot of problems (you're smart so I'll assume you can see what those would be), but maybe something halfway would be a good idea.
 
Of course BL isn't a democracy. It is, however, a community. And communities tend to be fairly dynamic. Think about it. America ain't nothing like what it was just 200 short years ago...and just a few short generations ago Germany was under Nazi rule.

And sure, critiquing can get ugly. C'est la vive, amigo. But you know what can get even uglier? Selecting moderators that are "out of touch" with the community. Hell, a lot of those big fancy fat cat staffers don't have the foggiest idea of what goes on down here. You think those folks are more qualified to select a moderator than the forum regulars?
 
^ I hear yah. I don't have the experience that you do with mods, thankfully CD has been blessed with mods that I would consider "down to earth" so to say, so I can see where you are coming from for sure.

LOL, see what I mean? This is EXACTLY what I'm talking about.

BL is a site full of drug addicts, prostitutes, and thieves. And yet, it's evidently run by a bunch of Johnny Brown Nosers. We need someone real. We need another beta.
