whats the best med to stay asleep

i take valium, loprazolam, meprobamate and some neurelptics to get to sleep... but i allways wake up in the night, and have trouble getting back to sleep or end up not sleeping at all... i'm eating healthily and doing at least 2 hours of intense sport per week....

i suggested flurazepam but my doc won't Rx me any more benzos... i might get some more meprobamate tomorow (3 pills intead of 2)

what has worked best for you people who have a really hard time STAYING asleep... i have no problem falling asleep!

Oddly enough, in my experience Mirtazapine has worked the best. And I've tried a lot. It's traditionally an antidepressant (TeCA) but recently has been used to help with insomnia. And man this stuff would knock me out! The only reason I don't take it anymore is because it would give be horrible dreams and sometimes sleep paralysis. Otherwise, it worked very well.

No clue if they have that in your part of the world, thuogh.

Zopiclone works well for me, and your doc might no be as reluctant to give you Z-drugs as opposed to benzos. Have you tried Mepronizine instead of meprobamate (a french drug, combining meprobamate with a powerful anti-histaminic)?

ranbaxy brand of mirtazapine 15mg + 45mg tabs has just been recalled by the NHS in the uk due severe adverse side effects

what about temazpam or funitrazepam? are they not good for people with frequenjt nightly awakenings?

yes i take 2 mepronizine per night (400mg meprobamate+ aceprometazine and acepromazine) a muscle relaxer an anti-histamine and a hypnotic/sedative.... i tried zopiclone and it worked for 2 nights then nada... i tried zolpidem... same thing except zolpidem doesn't leave a horrible taste in your mouth in the morning...

as for "mirtazepine" (Remeron also called Norset here) i tried it for a month and a half gained 20 Kg and it didn't help with my depression or my insomnia...

as for Flunitrazepam or temazepam... they are good for falling asleep but not for frequent awakenings... i could have got either, but i prefered to go for loprazolam as it can be IV'ed...

I was perscribed the muscle relaxant FLEXIRIL once and man, if I took one of those I was asleep like a bear in hibernation. No trouble sleeping all day if that's what you want!

Wierdly, the only one that kept me asleep was Lunesta. Really not recreational at all, but it was the one that helped me stay asleep through the night. Ambien probably did too, but I experienced some memory problems so switched.

^Agreed. Used as prescribed its an excellent sleeper. Only downsides are tolerance (1 every 3 days will keep them effective...more, say every night, & they just don't work Tiredness can last for a couple hrs the next day.

& yep, doctors aren't too stingy prescribing it.

Also, If you are UK based get some Phenergan. Its OTC here, but the chemists keep em in the back. They will ask why you want em. Say for travel sickness NOT sedation (even though it is indicated for that)

You want the 25mg pack, contains 56 tabs. Take a couple with your zop for a knockout hights sleep. I sometimes use em on their own, if doing that take 3 maybe 4 phenergan.
