Young girls dies after attending a Rave in L.A.

Sad these things happen, such a young girl too. They need to spread more awareness about drug use/ecstasy use to educate people. I even know some of my friends aren't aware of some things. =/

& I haven't even been to a rave yet & under the influence. Kind of scares me but makes me more aware to be careful.

My buddies went to the event and said it was awful. People were dropping like flies.

Kids/Teens/Young adults take a lot of drugs way too lightly and its so sad. One of the dummies that went took 8 (DAMN GOOD) pills and ended up buying a few more there. There is something WAY wrong with that. Either you are trying to get way too fucked up or your tolerance is so high you need to chill for a WHILE.

I hope people learn from this stuff and really start to respect MDMA and all other drugs alike.

it would be great if they still had testing booths at parties. A 14 or 15 year old girl disappeared from a rave in Phoneix not long ago, I havent heard any updates about it :(

i've been to a rave or two in phoenix and let me tell you, there is some mother fuckin- sketchy ass people there!!! the tweaker-roller ratio is way off. that should give you an idea of how it is.

What awareness are you talking about? IF there are always idiots who cant get enought. People die everyday. 1 DEAD OF ECSTASY>?! How much people die of alcohol everyday - are you still awared about it? You have respect Yourself first if you are taking any kind drugs. Just be careful- buy your pills before the rave, test them with TestKIt or send 1 to ecstasydata.org; Drink enought water. Take a break while dancing every 15 minutes? If you are mentally and physically "OK" chances are minimum that you can harm yourself with pure MDMA. and last take 2-3 pills, max.

in america you's have a division within the crowd between people on crystal meth and on mdma? does it cause much problems within the rave?

in the uk everyone seems to be on the same level, even people taking different drugs, its so diverse that the crowd some how kind of connects...

I agree with eLW, there are always going to be people who want to push the envelope, you can't help someone who doesn't want it or think that they need it.

There are plenty of resources available to get information about drugs, ranging from very basic to complex scientific studies and everything in between. These types of deaths are senseless and needless.

Its still sad and should make all of us look at our own usage as well as working even harder to try to spread the word about harm reduction.

It enrages me. The same thing could happen if you are drinking and overheat. I am on the conservative side of defending drugs but I cannot stand propaganda in the media.

On the other side: too many youngsters are dabbling in these drugs and it
saddens me that something great can be abused so much.

I was at the event and yes, it is VERY saddening to think that this kind of shit happens because it gives the scene a very bad reputation, but you simply cannot blame the drug alone for this occurance. I find it VERY hard to believe that ecstasy alone was the culprit for this death.

First, what was the girl, who was 15, doing at the rave? This was a 16+ event. Where were her parents? Why didn't they know what their child was doing?

Second, it has NOT been published in any literature that I've seen as to whether the girl was on any sort of medication, and they haven't published the results of the autopsy yet. It is very possible that she could have been on a medication or even and OTC such as DAYQUIL for a cold (containing DXM) and the two drugs could have had a bad interaction.

Finally, why was she drinking out of a stranger's water bottle? I never shared any water bottles at the event with anyone except my girlfriend and best friend who showed up with me. The water wasn't so insanely expensive that people didn't have access to it. Remember that whoever put the drug into the water bottle probably had the intention to consume it themselves and they probably know most of what they were putting into their body. It's really unfortunate that this happened but there were obviously simple harm-reduction principles that were not followed by this girl or her family.

Your first assumption isn't very fair. It says the family knew she was going to a rave, but not that she would be rolling at one. And even if they didn't, teenagers are quite efficient at doing things their parents never know about and are good at lying about it too.

girl wsa 16, party rules if ur 16 or under ur parents have to come in with u, (or atleast pick up the tickets) that being said her parents knew she was there and failed to supervise her properly, now her parents are moving to ban raves in LA. its really there fault, if they followed party rules and cared for their daughter in the first place they would not be dealing with the tradedy.

i highly agree with u here.

I got numerous calls and text messages from friends frantic worrying if we were alive or not =/ We noticed a few ambulances on Friday, but nothing to extreme....this was really sad.

I may get flamed for this post, but whatever. I honestly do not think that what the media is telling us is the truth. Think about it, what are the odds that this girl unintentionally took a swig of water from a laced bottle and then actually died from it? She knowingly went to the rave under the legal age, so it may be probable that she took E willingly as well. Think about it... something just doesn't add up.

The best guess I can give is that her friends are lying to cover their asses. I'd be willing to guess that she knowingly and willingly took MDMA in some form (molly or pressed pills), and then she got hot and decided to drink too much water too quickly, disrupting the delicate balance of electrolytes (most importantly, sodium), in her body. Having too few electrolytes in her body would cause her to pass out and cause brain damage. The brain damage WAS reported in most media sources that I've read. She probably was not informed on proper harm reduction like most veteran bluelighters here.

In no way am I trying to say "oh she fucked up, it's her fault." Because there are too many unknown factors. What I am trying to say, though, is that this definitely could have been avoided if she had educated herself and used a little more common sense before illegally entering the rave. Sorry if I've offended anyone, but I think that there is something not right with what we've been told on the news.

Where does it say anything about her drinking from someone else's water bottle or taking mdma unwillingly? Have I missed something?
