Your favorite band seen live.

Air I saw twice...first time when you could still smoke in bars in Toronto and smoked a big fattie while they played. Awesome.

renaissance under some bridge in philly, pretty sure it was '78. we had tickets for the stones earlier that day at RFK stadium and heard about renaissance playing later that night. i didn't know jack about them, vaguely recalled hearing the title "ashes are burning", so i had no expectations, they totally blew me away, was a better show than the stones.
but
the last time i saw frank zappa will always be the Favorite. it was a perfect night and an awesome concert in every way...

I saw Fintroll in 2008. I spent the night jigging and moshing, good times were had by all.

I would love to see Finntroll, although didn't they break up after the accordion player died from getting drunk and falling off a roof?

My favorite live band would have to be Blind Guardian, circa 2002 or 2003, when they did their first appearances in the U.S.

Also Converge in 2002 when there was a riot going on outside, Poison the Well's first tour, Dystopia, Alkaline Trio (when they were touring for From Here to Infirmary), and At the Drive-In (also their first tour, I think?)

Actual band: U2.

But my favorite live act is Mike Doughty. Amazingly funny and amazingly nice too.

I brought a girl with me who had never been to a concert before and she was blown away. They had just started incorporating the Alex Grey art into their shows. Although I was completely sober (Why can't we not be sober?) I felt as if I was tripping very hard. When they played Reflection, I just went to another place!

This is a video showing what the stage and videos looked like. It's from 2010, but the setup looks about the same. And the imagery changed every two minutes or so. One of them that stands out is a man's face that pulls and stretches away from him in sync with the music.

Note: During Triad, Mike Patton (from opening band Tomahawk) comes onstage dressed as a doctor, and someone else (can't remember who, presumably another member of Tomahawk) comes onstage dressed as a patient and if I'm not mistaken, also has a small drum part.

*The audience was awesome, but they were assholes when Tomahawk was performing. Booing and talking loudly.

Tool! I just saw them tonight, it was crazy! Their visualizers are so cool and they played perfectly.
They had a bad ass version of laturalis with a quest drummer.
Either that or The Mars Volta, that show was redonk, like pure energy bliss.

Led Zeppelin 1973 Tampa, Florida

I still remember it well my girlfriend walked down to the very front of the stage and have the best view ever. At the end of the show they let 1000's of white doves fly off during Stairway to Heaven , review http://www.ledzeppelin.com/show/may-5-1973

I'm not even joking when I say I think my dad was at that very show as well. He was stationed in Tampa at the time and told me he saw them on that leg of his Navy days while he was there. He's spoken to me about it several times. Very cool. =D

sigur ros.

(i added a period. i never put periods at the end of lines)

Imogen Heap, Incubus, Saves the Day, Daft Punk. :)

I also really loved the early Alkaline Trio shows where they would jam out in tiny little venues in Milwaukee and you could get a beer with the guys after...
