Watsup everyone I was just wondering what do you guys think is more intense, A upper 3rd/4th plateau of dxm or 1/8th of some shrooms. I personally love shrooms but I just had my first real dxm trip the other day (4th plateau) and OMG. It was suprisingly a very intense and spiritual experiance. I now find DXM to be more intense then shrooms. Let me know what you guys think

Ive had too many difficult experiences with mushrooms. I dont get anxious on dxm no matter how high the dosage or setting im in.

I've tripped on dxm and shrooms. The visuals of DXM seem 'dead', lacking color. I did not like dxm. The shrooms have been beautiful. There's also the fact that dxm can cause some pretty heavy next day hangover, while shrooms does not. Shrooms > DXM.

They are too different to even compare imo. I'd say they can be equally intense in very different ways.

good answer.

I like them both for different reasons but mushrooms always took me furthur

DXM's bodyload became too much for me as time went on, shrooms feel easier on me

I have had some great experiences on dex tho, and those were irreplaceable moments

umm not sure but dxm tends make me into a nihilist while shrooms makes me feel very connected awe inspired at the world.
so they are very different if not opposites can be equally intense(in completely different ways) just depends on dosage

That's exactly how I feel. There are some beautiful peaceful moments where I was just cool with everything and everybody on DXM. But it will rock you hard and the recovery requires lots of sleep for me. My friend who psychonauted the stuff with me ended up having a seizure while driving and crashing, he found out he had that enzyme problem that some have. I feel lucky not to have it, but I refrain from taking DXM because I've felt that feeling that it is a 'dirty drug'.

High-dose DXM (and dissociatives in general) is definitely "weirder" or more unearthly than shrooms, but it is also less interesting IMO, and MUCH less recreational.
Visuals are less complex, less colorful and interactive. Shrooms and LSD allows you to enter much more meaningful meditative states, while dissociative-induced meditations tend to be more ridiculously surreal and not to make much sense once sober... Also psychedelics make you more able to comprehend and appreciate music and art.

I like to say that while shrooms/acid are mind-expanding, DXM is mind-reducing: you experience the void (not that it is not interesting in its own right).

I like dissociative (ketamine>DXM though), but if given a choice between a lifetime supply of psychedelic or dissociative, I'd take the former anyday.

DXM is a powerful dissociative. People underestimate it because it's a "legal high," but it's a lot like ketamine at higher doses. It can certainly be psychedelic in the sense of mind-expanding/mind-manifesting.

As for which is more intense, they're so different it's hard to say. DXM's intensity is a lot like a K-hole; it winds up feeling less intense and overwhelming than it seems like it should given the intensity of the visuals, the degree to which your normal sensory and thought processes have been totally changed, etc. Shrooms, on the other hand, can make you oh so very aware of just how intense/crazy things are getting. Shroom trips are more emotional, and easier to remember at least how intense it was overall if not the specific details of the peak experience. So, I guess if I had to pick one over the other, I'd say shrooms are more intense, but both are certainly powerful enough that either one could easily give even an experienced user of many drugs the most intense single drug experience of their lives. The rabbit hole goes quite deep for both of them, as it were...

I agree with lots of this--the realistic, chunky substituted tryptamines are very good at amplifying the significance of real, chunky stuff in the world. The dissociative anesthesia of dextromethorphan, on the other hand, makes real stuff seem ridiculous.

My recommendation: combine them. DXM first, then wait at least 2 hours after dosage, ensuring no nausea combination effects, then take a low to moderate dose of a tryptamine with aromatic substitution (never tried it with unsubstituted N,N-dimethyl). Psilocybes work great, and am planning to try with psilacetin. 2C family phenethylamines also work very well.

Oceanic euphoria of tryptamines + samsaric contentedness of dissociatives = pure, undiluted awesome. With 2C-I as the combination, I and two friends started speaking different languages simultaneously--English, German, and Russian. Coolest thing ever.

Shrooms all the way. DXM just feels wierd and dirty.

Shrooms connect you to nature and open your eyes to the true beauty of the world

This, I wouldn't really compare them, their effects are pretty different. Personally I would choose shrooms, much more personal experience and it feels lovely and natural. My experience with DXM left me with a stomach ache and a real dirty feeling - however I did drink cough syrup so this was expected, I feel however if someone wants a real dissociative experience they should try ketamine, rather than DXM as it is a lot more powerful and rewarding.

Now that time has passed and I have more dxm and shroom trips I completely agree with most of you about liking shrooms more. I was just shocked from my dxm experience when I made this thread. I still highly respect dxm but shrooms are for sure the way to go.

PS. If you guys are looking for a amazing trip I recommend mescaline. It is truly a remarkable experiance.

^ This.

I'd say 4th plateau of a dissociative will be more intense than 1/8 of shrooms - but when you hit 5g+, that's another matter entirely.

I agree. Just 2 weeks ago I did terence mckenna's silent/dark room method with 5g and had the most profound experiance ever. I also smoked 20x salvia right after the peak and that was just INSANE! First time I met with a entity.

DXM is fuckin grimey, dirty shit IMO/IME... i would take the shrooms anyday... if its more intense... maybe, but more fun, interesting, psychadelic NO WAY

I agree I like shrooms better but hey no need to disrespect dxm so much. Dxm is amazing if you go in a pitch black room and get lost in your closed eye visuals while listening to your favorite songs. Dxm gives me better music euphoria then any other drug even mdma. With shrooms and acid I could see music flowing in the air and felt like I became part of it but I still felt better listening to music on dxm. Closed eye visuals on dxm get really crazy and ive got alot of OBE from dxm. I guess im just the 1/3rd people who like dxm but still if you dont like it no need to call it shit.

^^ as said b4 dxm is a mind-blowing experience at the 4th/sigma level. like spiritual said dxm is awesome to be in a dark room with music playing. shrooms you wanna be outside forsure exposed to colors. dxm is more in your conscious mind whilst shrooms and lsd play on your brains perceptions of the world (senses).

I feel comfortable in my own realm on dxm, shrooms can make me uneasy about whats going on around me. I get more of a body load and paranoia on shrooms. Acid on the otherhand is way better than either.
