There's a good streaming radio site here: http://www.philosomatika.com/

Do you like psytrance? Is it too 'dark' too listen to while your tripping?

For me if I leave it on in the background while I smoke and surf the net it kinda gives me some minor axienty (lol) but if i tune in a get into it it sets me off =D its mad i reckon, but what do you think?

Love listening to some of the downtempo stuff. Shpongle, Entheogenic, Younger Brother, Hallucinogen etc.
Xamanist is quite good, too. You can download some of his tracks for free at Last.FM

Have a look at Ektoplazm as well. It's a site filled with free, downloadable psytrance albums. %)

I love dark psytrance, i goto Doofs (outdoor forest/bush psychedelic parties) every few weeks where they play alot of different variations of psytrance.

Nothing quite like tripping/dancing to darkpsy at midnight in the forest! :)

no. trance is pretty terrible and so is psytrance.

i will dance if i am fucked though, and i can admit it can be quite 'trippy' which can be fun. musically though however i think it is pish.

I recently went to my first Goa-party and liked it very much, in fact tonight theres gonna be a free outdoor party in my area :D. I like both the progressive and the darker stuff, even though I cant say Im familiar with all the sub-genres. I dont think Id like to be tripping to dark goa, I usually stick to a combination of booze, weed and maybe a little speed. Would like to listen to it on MDMA though!

Been to a couple psy-raves, the spirit/community is great but the music is tosh :p

Don't get me wrong the occasional bit of psy can be good, but 12 hours of that fucking bassline get seriously annoying

Cannabis = High-BPM psytrance

Serotonergic psychedelics = Downtempo / psychill / dubstep

In my opinion.

^Hmm, I tend to make more chill/ambient/droney/experiemtnal stuff when on such as LSD, and when on weed, more darkpsy. Follows your reasonin'..

I love psy, been listening to it for many years now; as with Malakaix, I go to doofs, usually the more quiet ones nowadays though....I find the dark/neuro-psy to be the most interesting; I personally produce progressive and happy-morning stuff, though more recently kinda glitchy high speed psy- its a very engaging style of music to create...I like the chaos of completely arbitrary psychedelic weirdness in all style of music, and think mixing darkpsy with drones and noises is musical joy (to make at least).

That said, I prefer to listen to less musical music most of the time. Drone music is super duper psychedelic when done well, and can feel like the musical equivalent of a fractal; everything in the song is in every part of the song....:)

isnt this more suited to Music other than Psychedelic Drugs?

and no, generally i dont like it as most psytrance is shite, but i like Shpongle

Also I would like to note that I have never listened to psy tripping, and I really don't think it needs to be listened to under a psych. I find it fully engages my mind and presents me with moods, feelings and beautiful thoughts. :)

I can never figure out exactly what it is I love about it so much, the constant/fast doof doof doof, basslines or sounds or whatever.

I could probably jam out to a loop of a kick, bassline, open hi-hat and snare for hours on end! :D preferably 145+ BPM.

I'm sort of a snob when it comes to electronic music, I consider trance and it's sub genres the formulaic 'pop' of EDM. However dark psy trance is tolerable to me.

If I'm in a down-tempo mood I prefer IDM (ugh, the most pretentiously named genre, I cringe as I type this). However IDM can get pretty gritty and intense, so I must be selective.

The only 'raves' I go to nowadays host exclusively dark, hard, and/or minimal techno (that is, the Techno genre as originated in Detroit), though Ive grown board of straight minimal/micro house. I seem to be in the minority on this forum when it comes to proper Techno however.

I enjoy tripping at such events, though I have mixed feelings about it. To fully appreciate a psychedelic experience this is not the proper environment, albeit can be a good time to be sure.

I don't think tripping necessary draws me to any particular type of music; it always enhances the music I like, same as cannabis. My mindset going into the trip will determine what direction I go more than anything.

its psychedelic trance....

Why wouldn't you eat psychedelics and listen to it?

Im not a fan of the crazy brain exploding 280+ BPM neuro psy... Full on psytrance is ok when im on the mood for it but i prefer the chiller side of it....

1200 micrograms - Mescaline

Fucking wonderful....

I like Goa Trance but technicaly advanced, more complex broken beats like dubstep, drum n bass or jungle give me more euphory when I dance to it.Broken beats music is music of future

I don't care for it that much. Sometimes I go to raves or listen to Twisted Records artists, but not often. I guess I find the music kinda cheesy and predictable--when it comes to electronic music I like more IDM-ish stuff like Autechre. Generally though I prefer drone, noise, and classical music, especially while tripping or otherwise intoxicated.

Twisted artists FTW

Also I suggest everyone check out Hedflux if you haven't already. Some nice, chilled, quality psytrance.

I love goa and early psy, however modern psy just pisses me off. Constant annoying beat, especially in dark, I fail to see anything of interest, and psy festivals just annoy me. However, that being said I absolutely adore psybient and would recommend it to anyone, whether they be sober or tripping!

And willow, what drone are you into? Obviously I adore Sunn 0))) and the like, but I find lesser known artists like The Angelic Process to be a lot more...intense (in a good way) most of the time, although the Sunn 0)))/Boris collaboration is something I could happily leave this world to!
