Will a codeine CWE "go off"

Basically i did an extraction of about 1.2g of codeine. Then realised that it might "go off" or just not keep for very long.
So yeah, i've had 300ml of codeine water (900mg codeine) sitting on my desk in a plastic protein shaker for about a week. Any ideas how much longer i can keep it for, before A) it wont work very well, or B) it will actually harm me.

i remember reading on here somewhere that it'll keep for a pretty long time, days and weeks even.
But personally, I'd keep any unused brew it in the fridge and not sitting out. I wouldn't drink it if it's been sitting at a warm temperature. I dunno though, maybe that's just me. No doubt someone will offer a chem-answer..
 
As soon as you mentioned fridge, i thought fuck why didnt i just leave it in there after the extraction. Oh well...

I've just always kept things in the fridge to prolong their shelf-life. I have no idea why I do that, I just do.

Just think of it this way though.. Would you rather drink a beer that's been left out all week, or one that's been kept in the fridge? I tend to think that drugs and such need the same level, if not a higher level of caution.

Again, that's just my opinion. Codeine brews may have super-powers or something. Lol.
 
Always, always, always store the results of a CWE in the fridge. The amount of bacteria that will grow in sitting water for a week is huge, especially when
it's been in contact with other non-sterile objects. You probably won't get sick, but it's totally possible.

As far as stability, I wouldn't push it much farther than a week, although that's just a rough guess. You also want to use the fridge to improve stability (both heat and light exposure cause degradation.)

You used way too much water to begin with.

You will mess around and get a nasty case of gastroenteritis, if you keep leaving water out like that..

I wouldn't drink it, but in my country (pure) codéine is sold OTC so it's not a big deal..
Maybe try a small dose like 100mg and see how you feel?

Yes it would, so much so that I've decided to neck it anyway (half of it). I've just finished my exams today. Probably the best time to get ill if i'm gonna. Hopefully it'll just give my immune system a little boost!
 
It tasted horrible, like, more horrible than normal, really stale and rediculously bitter....

Its working tho! and thats all that matters..... =D
(for now anyway)

(also i normally get stomach pain, but i drank some squash with added fresh lemon juice and i didnt get any pain at all. I had always thought it, but now I definitely know its from the high alkalinity).

Also i'm on my third bottle of Robitussin DC, so if this doesnt' make much sense..... thats why!
 
Haha, brave man. Post back in a couple days and let us know if you ended up ill at all?

Good to know it still gets you high after that long.
 
Add a shot of vodka or whiskey etc to the remaining solution and that should help it keep for a long time.
