I have been taking hydro/oxy(percocet) at the rate of about 1 percocet per night and about 2-3 vicodin/norco every other day for the last month or so. So far I haven't had any major withdrawals. The pills are nearly gone. Please comment if you have ever done this or know anything about whether or not I will experience withdrawal symptoms.

I agree w/ the post above mine (violenza666). At such a small dose and not being every day I wouldn't expect much w/d. You would have noticed it during the day between your using. You may experience irritability and minor muscle aches. I think you'll be fine. If not ? Take some immodium (diarrhea) or ibuprofen (to deal w/ body pains) and keep hydrated.

I think insomnia would be the biggest problem you will experience. And you are probably gonna have some cravings for opiates. I recomend some benzos so you can get some sleep. Diazepam would be perfect for your situation

you might get some chills and maybe some hershey squirts. dont worry about full blown withdrawal's. Lucky bastard!!

I hate drugs. their nooo good. actually. their good for folks who actually need them.

I've come off that sort of dosage/usage length more than 2 dozen times. My runs were slightly longer though, say, 3-4 months, 6-8 mos.

First dozen times, I hardly noticed w/d. All I got was minor hots/colds, muscle tension, a tiny bit of extra anxiety and some sleeplessness. So you're not alone.

When I kicked similar habits, it was pre-BL/msg boards/internet soliloquies. I had never read a horror story, and my friends who were deep in the game were older, had been shooting dope for a WHILE. They gave me the 411, but they never bitched during w/ds. They were extremely old-skool. Those dudes were the only reference so I didn't consider my pills to be a big deal. (Good and bad way to look at it.)

The good was that when I ran out or took a break, I didn't even expect ANY w/d symptoms at all. Or, to be more accurate, I expected shitting and puking alot. Turned out that all I got were minor colds/hot and some sleeplessness. This pattern continued for years.

But I introduced a quick taper at the end of my bottle to ease things a bit. Works great for mini-habits. When I tapered (5-6 days tops), I'd develop a few very weak symptoms that I wouldn't even notice if I had a really busy week.

Back to w/d, it took me about 10 times to figure it out. Why am I sweating and cold? But the important part is that I expected it to go away quickly. Even after I figured out what was going on, I just prepared for my symptoms and worked through them in a week. Through experience, I knew exactly what I'd experience psychologically in the first 2 weeks. After 2 weeks, I'd feel normal again and want to get out of bed in the morning to take a run. That is very realistic, achievable goal.

Bodies and minds are different and experience w/d in different ways. But the mental aspect is critical, particularly with opiates. The more you keep your mind off potential symptoms, the fewer you'll feel and they'll seem less acute. And I'm a firm believer that building and maintaining a positive mental state is at least 50-75% of the battle of a successful kick.

Question

Hopefully this isnt too pitiful but to make a long story short, I have been taking about 4-5 30mg oxys for about 4 mos, prior to that i was taking the same amount of 15mg oxys due to cronic back issue, I recently decided that i wanted to stop taking the oxys mainly because it is costing me over 500/mo for my prescription from a local "pain clinic". Dont get me wrong, I love how it eliminates the pain and makes me feel great, not too sure if it is doing damage to the liver, but in any event I felt that the responsible thing to do was quit them. I tapered down aver about a week, and stopped by taking my last 1/4 of a 30mg pill. I woke up early this morning due to not being able to sleep and felt generally shitty, enough to go to the doc and get him to put me on subs. after i took the first sub i felt pretty good within an hour. The doc wants me to take 2 8mg subs a day and do this for a few weeks, then lower the dose and get of them over the course of a few months. (also he gave me 5 clonazepams 1mg to help w/sleep) Im thinking I can get by with just one sub a day and try to get off of them within a month, either way it will still be costly. (almost makes me just want to go ahead and get the oxys but i think at some point I will have to face the WDs) Can someone here tell me what to expect if I try to get off all of these altogether? The start of the WD's this morning made me go to the doc, but i think i could deal with it just fine if i could just sleep. Didnt get any vomiting or runs, just some leg pain discomfort and yawns, but felt depressed, I really want to just stop but am afraid of what the WD symptoms might make feel like. Anyone here able to tell me what to expect IF I just reduce the subs to virtually nothing, maybe just 2mgs a day for ?? days? I dunno, just looking for some advice. I think the doc would rather me do this over a few months, but I think that may just be so he can get more $ from me. I think I can do it quicker.. any suggestions or advice?

Check out the suboxone mega thread in the OD forum. You will find a lot of good info. You should have no problem what so ever getting by on 2-4mg of suboxone daily. I had near the same oxy ussage as you, and that's the suboxone dose I take (snorted). Suboxone doctors are notorious for over prescribing (I am prescribed 16mg daily but only use a fraction of that daily) and 16mg a day is way too much for your habitt. Drop your dose now, because w/d from suboxone at that dose is tough.

There is no reason for you to take that much suboxone. Less is more when it comes to bupe, and lower doses work wonders. Many people on bluelight take less then 4mg daily, even though they are prescribed much higher. Start with 2 mg, and if needed increase by .25-.5mg until settled. After an oxy binge, I dose high my first day back on subs (3mg), by day two I am only taking 1.5mg at most, and lower it every day after. You should have no problem doing a quick taper, but the key is starting small.

Do yourself a favor and please check out the suboxone mega-thread. The info in there will help you immensely.

Off topic I guess but why are you taking the percacet at night? Oxy is more stimulating than hydro so it would seem to make more sense to do it the other way around. I realize the difference is minor at that level of doses, but every little advantage helps.

I really think the doc overdid me on the subs, he had me take one in his office then wait 20 min to make sure that I did not get sick and I didn't. He wants me to do these for 3-4 months but i think im done now! I took half a sub later Last night. I slept good also cause I took 1/2 of a clono before bed.. Fell asleep around 1 am or so and woke up feeling like a million bucks. I haven't touched a sub at all today and it's now 11 pm and I still feel great! I think I may have escaped the wd symptoms somehow..? I feel blessed.. If I still feel good tomorrow I swear I'll never touch oxy again! I have gone through some pretty rough wd symptoms before when running out early, but this time I think the sub did it for me, wow I'm shocked I hope that I'm out of the woods, unless the sub lasts that long! I'll post back tomorrow on how I feel.. I think my prayers were answered I swear! Thanks for all who responded, you helped me learn a lot. Now I think I'll try to kill the pain naturally somehow, but I'll never turn again to oxy as much as I liked them. I was using 5 mg percs and 7.5 vicoprophens for a few months before the oxys too. I really thought I would suffer much greater wd symptoms after all this..wow, there really is hope.. Peace, until tomorrow, I'll post the results of how I feel tomorrow. I wish I had waited to fill the script, I'll have to flush 97 bucks worth of the rest of the subs :( oh well, it's a cheap lesson learned.. Could have been worse.. Thx for everyones support and help!
