NEWS: Reveller caught with 750 ecstasy pills at Winter Sound System

Does anyone else find police/sniffer dog presence at events in Victoria somewhat all over the place? The last few big events I've been to, Creamfields, Future Music, BDO, Godskitchen, Trance Energy last year I have seen no dogs whatsoever and I'm reasonably sure there were none at all at atleast most of these events even when there were reported dogs in other cities for the same events.

Am I just lucky or is there some reasoning behind the police presence only at some events in Melbourne?
 
L3inad I have to disagree that 750 pills means someone is "well connected" honestly, like practically any weekend pill popper could acquire that if they had the cash. Not dicksizing here at all, since I don't do pills I am probably one of the minority that couldn't even get that (nor would I if I could ;)). But I don't think that quantity of pills implies he was overly involved with organised crime. My bet is on the fact someone used the dumb kid as a mule.
 
I agree it's not hard to get a large amount of pills, theirs plenty around.
To get a large amount of good pills is a very different thing.

I think this holds true for most drugs aswell, If I had the cash I could buy my weed and meth by the pound and pills by the 100's.

But I think in order for an 18 year old to have saved up the cash to invest in 750 pills seems unlikely without illegal activity to acquire that amounts.

It's my understanding that cops don't like to go to every event across the country because then no one would bring any if they swamped every event. But yeah, still consider yourself lucky because they will be at some of them, and when they are I hope all your stuff is sealed up nicely.

Well I think we may have to agree to disagree. In my pill popping experience most munters can get as many as they want, but want rarely extends to amounts such as that mentioned here and I highly doubt that anyone who can get 750 isnt well connected. How many people do you know that keep 750 pills lying around on any given day? Anyone who keeps that much lying around is a fair way up the food chain hence my reasoning for him being well connected.

Even if he was indeed a mule, that still suggests that he is in some way affiliated with organised crime.

Without getting into pricing and amount of that magnitude has a potential street value well into the tens of thousands.

How many 18yo kids do you know that can pull that kind of money out of their arse for a very risky and difficult business venture? I can guess at around the zero mark ;)

My point being, no way in hell could he not know what he was up against. You dont aquire such large quantities without any idea of the implications.

He knew what he was doing, he was dumb enough to do it, he's now paying the price.

Very sad and totally avoidable situation :(
 
The logistics of moving 750 pills at a festival would be pretty intense, this would have had to have been for several dealers inside?
 
winter sounds was horrible. worst crowd i've ever seen, i rocked up.. paid the fuckn stupidly high entry price - and quite quickly left, as i walked out the gate - to which there was no passouts, my mates called me lookin for me in there. And i hear 30 mins later - they too left quite swiftly.
 
Wow what kind of moron would take 750 into a festival? I'd be interested to know what quality they were & what was in them. I don't think I saw more than about a dozen or so people at the entire Brisbane WSS that looked like they were on MDMA. There were some caps going around that looked like the old neorganics and some pills that matched the description of some known to be DMAA.

Haha i know what you mean about the crowd Mr Ibis if it was anything like the Brissy one. A lot of meatheads strutting around shirtless flexing and ogling their own southern cross tattoos at every possible moment... something about popular electro these days that seems to draw this type of crowd...

I would have stuck around to see Underworld though! Peeved that they didn't play up here :(
 
wow, ya gota be keen for that many, who would want to deal with that many of pressed bunk. gota love how the media names any substance ecstasy, would love to know what the active chemicals are in these are... if any.

I don't like to insult your inteligence, but even if he has a history because of his age he will get sent to youth centre
 
L3inad man, seriously like I don't recall ever buying pills off an actual pill dealer that wouldn't have that many pills available. I know its "who you know" but I have had a large number of pill sources over the years, a lot of them weren't any older than this kid. Obviously they are quite involved in criminal activity, but I do draw a distinction between being able to obtain not even 1000 biccies and being heavily involved in organised crime.

I don't see why him being a mule suggests affiliation with organised crime, for all anyone knows he might not even of had prior relationship with whoever he smuggled them for (assuming thats what he was doing). Even if he did know someone personally who's pills they were, I would hardly describe being mates with a pill dealer and stupidly being tempted to try this for a wad of cash as "involved with organised crime."

I guess we will have to agree to disagree. Our definitions of affiliation or involvement with organised crime are clearly quite different, I mean you could say a drug user was affiliated with organised crime because they buy the drugs off drug dealers but it is a bit of an exaggeration. I just don't think that amount of pills implies anything beyond what in the scheme of things is a boody small fish, most people I have known involved in the pill trade to any degree (dealing, not using) would consider 1000 pack pretty much a minimum purchase (note purchase as in for them to pick up, I don't mean they wouldn't sell less than 1000) back when I was popping. Maybe its different now...

Just thought I would also add, I guess it depends on your perception of "organised crime" how you take it. I mean sure it is easily arguable dealing any drugs is "organised crime" because it is a crime and it has been premeditated and organised. Personally when you say organised crime, it conjures up images of seedy fucks who will pretty much do anything to get ahead and have little to no morals. They engage in violence and intimidation to put out competition or those who otherwise oppose them. Someone who picks up pills and then sells them on for a profit generally doesn't fit the bill imho. On dictionary definition of the word you could probably pull me up, but what percentage of crime is not organised to any degree? I mean even if you plan to belt someone or walk into coles and steal a mars bar, it was still as premeditated and "organised" as selling E's is.

I was under the impression that your tried as an adult if your over 18...at least thats what yr12 legal studies taught me.
 
^ That was my impression as well. Age of 18 being the benchmark at which you are considered an 'adult' legally in this country (suffrage, buying alcohol, tobacco).

Suffrage, now that's a word you don't hear much anymore. I've been waiting to use that for who knows how long. :)

A few friends went last year and said it sucked as well, the music and of course the people.
