Hey,

I'm leaving to go over to USA soon from Sydney,AUS and I've had Ecstasy tablets in my wallet a few months ago and I was wondering if I should buy a new wallet before I go.

First time over seas so don't really know what to expect.

Regards.

Hey justkyle88, welcome to bluelight.

You have little to worry about if the pills were bagged up and it was some time ago.

Very minute trace amounts may remain, but it's doubtful that it would be detected.

If it will ease your mind then buy a new wallet. Don't stress about it if you do not.

They have never detected my cards used to rack coke and methamphetamines the night before a flight and many people would have these trace levels on them.

Unless you are importing drugs you have little to worry about

Yea what Psilo said. No need to stress about it if u have nothing on u. So what if u use/used drugs? They cant do much even if u do/did.

They pick up traces of drugs in wallets all the time on boarder security. They swab it and stuff it into one of them machines then start screaming "When did you last use cocaine?!!". These people have already drawn attention to themselves though. I didn't know I was carrying cocaine in my wallet and I must have flown through about 5 different european countries before I discovered it.

Unless you're concealing larger amounts, you have nothing to worry about when it comes to traces of substances.

Dealing with airport security isn't fun at the best of times, so for peace of mind, buy a new wallet. I'd hate to get pulled up for even trace amounts in SE Asia! They would probably butt rape you to get a confession of guilt!

I have never stressed about trace amounts. It's a common story amongst friends where you end up at your holiday destination and find an amount of something that you stashed in your bag months ago at a doof, but forgot all about...

An old surfer I know, stashed an oz of weed in his hiking bag while drunk at Offshore 1999 and found it the day he arrived in Bali during 2001. Up until that day he thought he had lost it at the festival so never searched every pocket of his bag. Woops :\

It's well worth scouring any bag you take over seas, I've caught myself out a few times

Yeah, when i visited Bali for the first time last year, even though i went through every pocket in every piece of clothing i owned, i was still extremely nervous when arriving that i had accidentally left something somewhere that i had missed.

In my opinion, if its going to stress you out.. just buy a new one for peace of mind.

Like Psilo said - for peace of mind just buy a new wallet. That way you don't have to stress, be it rationally or irrationally. Even though there's probably no problem, if you buy a new wallet you don't have to worry at all and you won't be going through security like a jittery mess (thus drawing unnecessary attention to yourself).

Enjoy your trip.

Your going to the US, so its not going to be an issue if they pick something up on the ion scans. at worst they will search you.

i feel your paranoia. when i came back from thailand, via singapore. i realised I hadn't checked any of pockets of the clothes i packed away to make sure there was nothing in there. my friends who were smoking joints constantly would borrow clothing like board shorts. needless to say I was pretty paranoid.

trace amounts aren't an issue. i had a mate who got ion scanned at melb airport and came back pos for coke. they just searched his bag briefly then let him on his way.

You should be fine. I've had various things in my wallet and travel overseas on a (somewhat) regular basis. I've never had any issues. If you're really worried give your wallet a nice clean;)

Reading this thread frustrated me.
Just tell him what he needs to know.

NO!!!! YOU CANNOT GET ARRESTED FOR TRACES OF ANYTHING IN AMERICA!!!!
(And probably nowhere else either, but you never know with some places like Asia as Psilo said)
Everybody has traces of something on them almost guaranteed. 90% of money has cocaine on it. So just chill.

And you don't get arrested for traces of PETN or RDX or unstable peroxides in America !!

Thanks a lot for the replys :)
I'm just going to buy a new wallet.
The pills weren't bagged, they were just shoved in there when I went to a festival. hehe
Out of curiosity, how much searching would they do to me and how long would I be waiting.
I just don't want unnecessary hassle.

Now the problem of finding a semi decent looking $5 wallet, haha I prob have a better chance of not getting my traces picked up than finding a wallet that looks respectable..lol

From watching border security, if you're asian it could be an hour +, they'll take you into a back room and feel you up and down a bit (if you dont like being feeled up by strangers then probably buy new wallet). After watching 6 seasons of Border Security, i'm pretty sure a lot of people just like getting their cavities searched.

If you're white, they'll just search your back quickly then give you a white person handshake.

I've never seen a black person be searched on border security, my only assumption is they dont even make it to the border. :!

LOL!

The poor asian travellers are always getting hastled for some trivial shit like bringing food in.

Just buy a new wallet then you have nothing to worry about whatsoever.
