Where can I get biased info?

My mother is freaking out that I smoke a miniscule amount of weed every 2 months. She wants me to show her some scientific evidence that marijuana isn't bad for you (or at least not as bad as she thinks). I'm 15 years old, and I've been trying really hard not to piss her off. Does anyone know of any biased but legitimate sounding research that I could print out and show to her? It doesn't actually have to be biased (Obviously). Thanks.

It's probably not good to smoke weed as an addolescent though, I'd say she's right about that although I also think she's overreacting. I smoked pot daily (and did a lot of drugs) at your age, all parents should expect their kids to experiment with drugs at some point, generally in the teen years, and pot is definitly one of the less harmful ones for the developing brain.

Also, all the studies I've read that talked about damage to the developing brain due to cannabis use were studies about heavy smokers, if you only smoke once every two months you aren't doing anything that could damage your brain as far as I know.

If your mom is ok with alcohol or tobacco you could point out that both of them are far, far more risky then marijuana. It's pretty easy to find pro-marijuana stuff online, but she might be more convinced by unbiased info. Sources like erowid are great and they're fairly unbiased as far as the information they provide. If you read the information about marijuana though, then you get the picture of weed being fairly harmless, especially with such occaisional use, because it is. You don't need a biased source to tell you that pot's a safe drug.

QFT.

I have found the most compelling argument for adolescents not smoking pot has nothing to do with detrimental effects to the brain (well not really.)

if you start smoking weed at an early age then naturally your weed smoking would take you away from the problems and challenges of growing up. it becomes a way of escaping problems, and if you grow up escaping problems, then you never learn to deal with them.

i started smoking at 15 (am 22 now) and it has taken me YEARS to realise the validity of that. my mom telling me that was one of the only things i've ever really taken on board.....wish i could go back 8)

anyhow just my 2 cents...i know how hard it is mate, you sound like you're in a very similar situation to what mine was.

You have to follow your parents' rules while you live in their house. After you graduate from high school and move into your own place then you can make your own rules.

Amen, brutha... amen...

bud.lightyear and Jibult, I agree. I also started around 15 and I'm 23 now doing it daily. Roose gives some awesome links OP, but you should realize that while at 15 weed seems harmless and fun and all positive, there are negatives with it as well. I know from reading around that a few of us who have commented in this thread already can comment with real life experience on that one.

Maybe your mother is curious enough to try a sample.

Why don't you show her unbiased info, instead of being dishonest about something very easy to be convincingly honest about?

Because she shows me all of her biased info from the 30s and 40s. She is convinced that marijuana is a violent narcotic that is extremely addicting and creates mortifying hallucinations, or something like that.

As for not getting caught again, its not that I'm worried about getting caught, or punishment, its that I'm worried about our mother-son relationship.
I don't use marijuana to escape my problems, I use them to amplify the high points (no pun intended) in my life. I smoke socially with friends once in a blue moon. Thank you for the huge list of links.
I'm pretty confident that me and my mother will have an unnecessarily drawn out discussion which we will resolve our issues in.

let me know how it goes, i am 15 and my parents have no clue i have ever done drugs!

pot is bad for you. not as bad as IV paint thinner, but it's not benign. 15 is not old enough to weigh out the positives and negatives of drug use (pot is a drug, a damn good one). i started getting high when i was 15ish, and i wish i would not have. of course it was fun getting high as a high schooler, making it seem all good, but no shit there is an up-side to it. you just don't see the even bigger down side until later. people who wait until they are adults to start using seem to be able to do so more responsibly (in general, there are exceptions both ways). people who have been smoking since their teens tend to either have to give it up completely or be stoners. being a stoner sucks (don't let any motherfucker on here tell you otherwise). Be timely; as a 15 year-old boy, you should be concentrating on 15 year-old girls. unlike drugs, they are off limits in a few years.

edit:
or wait... drugs are illegal. sometimes i forget.

I'm glad I got the partying out of my system now that I'm in college. I'm not going to blow off an assignment to get high, go to a party, or try some new drug. I've been there done that and bought the t-shirt already. You should be doing some of the things you can't do when you get older. If you want to smoke weed every day go for it. You may never get the chance to again.

College is not the time to be exploring drugs you have too many responsibilities by the time you get to college. You may be going to school, working 40+ hours a week, and coming home at midnight to finish your homework like I was. Not to mention dating, friends, family, cleaning your dorm. Your going to have shit to do and then some. If your parents are rich you'll have time in college cause you won't have a job. But if your working class I say smoke it up while you can!

EDIT: Hydro is right tap some 15 year old ass....

The amount of ppl i talk too who have said that smoking weed at a young age has ruined weed for them forever.. It reason enough for me to never want to do that.
