Please help me out here guys, I am stressing so hard and I know it's not going to help anything...but I need some advice.

I've been IVing tex for about six months now(only for a few days a month) and until yesterday every shot had been just fine. And then the last one I did yesterday night really, really hurt. I registered FOUR times and blood came out everytime, lots of it. By the last ten units I just took it out and said eff it.
At first, it jus got a little swollen and there were red spots around the site, I wasn't too worried. But when the pain didn't go away, I started to worry more..I can't straighten my left arm out all the way or bend it up all the way..It's red around the site and circling around my elbow as well. It hurts so bad. My boyfriend was feeling the difference in temps from below to above the site and he said it is getting warmer-which I've heard is indicitave of an infection/abcess whatever it may be..
I know tex can be a lot worse than other drugs as far as missing. I've missed with heroin and other pills..but I don't think I've ever hit an artery...which scares me soooo bad. I'm tryn not to swear. But I want to.:(

I know if it gets worse I am going to have to go to the hospital but I am terrified my suboxone dr. will find out and cut me off my suboxone and klonopin-which I obviously need....cuz I'm STILL messing around with needles, even if its just once in awhile. It needs to stop completely. Anyway any advice would be so appreciated. I'm so freaked out right now. Hope everyone else is staying safe and also that I posted this in the right spot. Thank you.<3

Please go to the hospital right now. They can put you on antibiotics that will stop this now! Do not wait!

This is your arm, you don't want it cut open and drained. Nobody wants that. Please just go to the hospital. Your subutex doc won't find out. Don't say you're prescribed it when you go into the E.R., just say you got some and leave it at that.

Please take care of this. If it hurts and its hot, you need to go now.

Thank you so much. I am scared because one hosp. knows i see my suboxone dr. and what he prescribes me. not the tex, i did get that somewhere else. the other hosp doesnt but they could prob get my records. either way.....but yeah, i will head down there. thank you, you gave me the true motivation i needed to get the hell down there. :)

well i went to the er. he gave me keflex i believe, some antibiotic and said there is an infection in my arm. he didn't even know what subutex was and it took him awhile to comprehend buprenophine once i told him that was the actual name of the drug. :X they took a ton of xrays and twisted my arm all kinds of ways so now it hurts even more and of COURSE they didn't give me any pain medication. i didn't even ask....but i thought maybe at least vics since my pain level was 8/10.....oh well. i wasn't there for more opis...just to see what was wrong..but since they didn't know the drug for sh**, I don't know what will happen....I am picking up my suboxone tomorrow so that'll help w/ the pain I'm sure and I certainly won't be shooting that. or anything for that matter. This has never happened before. As if having hep C isn't enough of a wakeup call. Ugghhh I hope this works. Thank you again for makin my a$$ get up and go!!:)

^That's great that everything worked out for ya. You're the first person I've seen actually go to the hospital and report back in one of these threads. Well hopefully you'll be fully okay soon, and just consider this a lesson learned about shooting pills.

^^ I agree.

Hope everything works out for you.

Though I hate to see anyone in that situation hopefully your response encourages others to do the same if they are ever in the same circumstances.

Congratulations on getting to the ER and doing the right thing. I echo the posters above in that yours is the first thread I've seen where you took advice, acted on it and reported back. On one page! Ideally, your courage and wisdom will inspire others to do the same.

I hope the infection resolves itself quickly (I was prescribed Keflex for an infection and that shit was no joke. I've never taken such a powerful antibiotic so I hope you'll have the same results: it acted fast.)

Good luck with your suboxone appointment too. It sounds like you're making progress and that's where it's at. Be safe.

Agreed. Good for you for just going and getting it dealt with rather than dragging on for pages thinking of any possible reason to avoid having to go to the hospital. These threads often seem to follow a similar template, unfortunately. Great to see the mould broken and to show how quickly and easily these things can be dealt with so they don't end up as part of the Case Studies (It could happen to YOU...) **UPDATED: 15 JAN 2010** thread. Hope your arm's feeling better soon :)
