"Consistancy" of the bowl

If i find a special nug, i will burn it whole. just like nature intended. otherwise fingers or scissors... I get pretty high off weed as it is, so im not too fussed with potency or wasteage...

But my friends are scissor whores, pack there bowls meticuliously, rotating and packing finely chopped layers of weed, mounding it up and then sprikling some ontop for good measure. then its just a matter of lighting it up from th outside and watching the cherry form.
 
We have found out that a coffee grinder works very well too. I primarily use my regular grinder, but for the vaporizer I definitely grind it up using the coffee grinder. Thank you roommate. It smokes really smooth, and it last longer.
 
Oh man, nothing angrys up my blood like when someone takes a beautiful nugget and just carelessly thumbs it into a bowl. I hate that:X It tastes like shit, the smoke is harsh, its hard to get a good hit, its a huge waste, and, oh yeah it tastes like shit and is extremely harsh.The people who thumb nuggets in a pipe are also likely to violate other smoking courtesy rules as well it seems, charring up weed by just holding the lighter on a bowl in circular motions while sucking as hard as possible to ensure that all hits there after are unpleasent and most of the actives have been destroyed by fire.

I also dislike it when people bust up great nug with their fingers when there is a grinder around. I mean its not so bad if you kind of take it apart flower by flower sort of as mentioned somewhere else in the thread. But when people just tear it to shreds and all the crystals are lost to oily fingers and the resulting plant matter is all smushed up and has no fluffyness to it, or else if its over dry just turns to powder that burns super hot and sucks thru pipes/cant be rolled :(

And to the person trying to say they get any useable amount of finger hash from breaking up a bowl/joint/ even an eighths worth i call bullshit, the bud around where i live is top quality, much of it coming from dispensaries, and there is no way you can get significant amounts unless ur workin with a lot of plant material. fingers are not a dry cold piece of smooth glass or metal, they are oily, hot, textured, etc.

Also sega, why would you corner a bowl only to stir it up? Thats what your talking about right? I dont understand your reasoning if there is any as that would just immolate actives straight into the air while your stiring it and make it burn hotter. That defeats the whole purpose of cornering which is to keep a pipe tastin nice and smooth cus of lower temp and less charred material as well as being more efficient in gettin the most outta your sesh...

very nice point. that's often when i notice the full aroma.

i break mine up. i always prefer three or four big, smooth pulls over ten where i'm working hard and still getting half air.

Screens have nothing to do with breaking up weed. Because you use a screen doesn't mean it's the norm.... in fact I don't think I've seen a screen since I was 15y/o smoking out of metal pipes. But that's another thread ;)
Advice about weed coming from a schwag smoker is always going to be suspect.

Don't remember saying anything about screens being the norm... I started a thread to discuss the differences because I recognize that there isn't a norm either way. I mentioned in my thread that I have friends who don't use a screen.

Maybe I don't want to spend a small fortune on pot every weekend. Not every body has there rich mommy and daddy to take care of all the bills.

I don't spend a small fortune to avoid smoking nasty shit that doesn't get me high. :/ Don't know how else to respond to that one...
 
If I'm smoking krip (sinsi) I just stick the whole nugget in. If I'm smoking regular brick weed I usually break it up a bit to make sure there aren't any seeds or stem in the bowl.
 
I'm a perfectionist. I place a good sized nug (relative to the size of the bowl) at the bottom, then surround that with smaller nugs, then cover all that up with a layer of ground-up buds, and then - when possible - add a thin layer of kief topped off with a few dried marijuana leaves, which function as fuses and/or garnishes ;)
 
When I first started smoking nuggets I would just stick it in the bowl at first. Then a few years later I started breaking it up with my fingers (most likely during college). Now I just use a pair of small scissors to break the bud up a little bit. I prefer to smoke indica dominants (helps that the majority of the stuff around here is) so the buds are usually very dense. Used to have a grinder, but I need to go get a new one at some point. I will still break it up, even when I only pack like two hits worth.

Baby Nail Scissors work great btw.

I think carl is cool because he smokes good pot.

More importantly I think carl is cool because he has experience smoking some of the worlds worst and best pot. The man has knowledge.

I enjoy preparing my herb,:) I usually use scissors, and pack a bowl, but somewhat loosely, as a better toke it gottten that way.<3 Ther e are definatly certain ways and means[ways and means comittee anyone?]to havesmoking a bowl[or doober] herb be a much easier, pleasant, and ECONOMICAL time.I also must call B.S.:p on the scraping of fingers to retrieve 'finger hash", or tricomes, or keif, or whatever else is being sought.
 
cheap coffee grinder (devoted solely to this task) works wonders. and = kief collector. dump onto paper, paper-funnel-tip into storage vessel. not an iota lost.

in bowl, use any non-flammable right-shaped device to cap bowl when smoking, putting material out after each hit. very little smoke lost this way.

get 2x life out of same amount of material this way, esp. over sloppy methods. & then the ground material happens to be perfect for vaping, too, & if you do that your efficiency shoots up even higher.
