So whats up with Demerol?

So whats the deal with Demerol? I know its been in the news constantly since Michael Jackson OD'd on a cocktail of drugs containing it. Well, one of my buddies just called me today and said he could get his hands on some hospital ampules of Demerol for cheap...won't say the price but I mean cheap (even though he always hooks me up cheap on anything). I've been scraping the barrel trying to get money for heroin so this made me really interested because I know it's used for moderate to severe pain. I've been using morphine too lately anywhere from 75mg-150mg.

So to anyone who has experience, how does it compare to others in the opiate/oid family (namely heroin, morphine, dilaudid, and oxycodone)? How much would I have to take with a 2 bag a day heroin tolerence/100mg morphine tolerance to get really high?

And is it worth it? I found this on wikipedia even though I've learned to take things written on there with a grain of salt...

"When compared with oxycodone, hydromorphone, and placebo, pethidine was consistently associated with more euphoria, difficulty concentrating, confusion, and impaired psychomotor and cognitive performance when administered to healthy volunteers."

Mmm...euphoria's my favorite of course along with the rush. So what do you guys gotta say about it?
 
I got food poisoning and had intense cramps for 3 days, my mom forced me to go to the hospital and they admitted me. They gave me 150mg demerol iv every 4 hours those 3 days, i remember it being so dreamy, but due to the actual pain I was in no intense u=euphoria, just a sense of peace as the pain faded. I liked it, demerol pills arent worth a fuck though
 
Just to let you know it was propofol, not demerol that killed MJ, propofol+benzos
 
i'm gonna send this over the BDD since it's more a general discussion about Demerol (meperidine).

one thing to keep in mind is it has a unique toxic side to it, yet it's still used wround the world as the first line of a strong opioid. also not to ever mix it with MAOI's as it has proven to be a fatal mistake in the past.
 
I have personal experience with DEMEROL. . . about 20 yrs

I have Chronic Pancreatitis Ive been living with it for 20 yrs now and ever since I was diagnosed with it Dr's have always used Demerol as a pain killer for me. They normally administer it as a shot to the hip I cant even count to 30 before Im Knocked the f@ck out COLD then I wake up hrs later most of the time really groogy it takes a long while for me to fully wake up from it. I never have a feeling of wanting more thats for sure its pretty heavy duty.
 
I found demerol to have a rush that almost matches hydromorphone when given IV. However i don't always find it that euphoric and it's the only opioid that fucks with my head. It just makes me feel really spaced out now if i take it and doesent help dope sickness nearly as much as codeine does.

Due to it's anti-cholinergic side effects and the toxicity of normepridine it can cause everything from confusion and hallucinations right up to seizures and heart trouble. Don't take anymore then 400mg's in a day and don't take it longer then 3 days in a row of the normeperidine will build up to toxic levels. Given IV hightens the risk of seizures too i believe.

Compared to morphine it's a pretty weak opioid despite what doctors say. Granted it's not a first line opioid that much anymore except for certain illness and it is good for things like food poisoning due to the fact that it causes fuck all constipation usually. You can have some fun with it though if you have a low opioid tolerance and it mixes really well with anti-histamines such as dimenhydrinate and diphenhydramine.

I would but where I'm at no, H is rather expensive which is a big dissapointment. I'll prolly get a few of these vials cuz I love trying out different opiates...there arn't many left in the US pharmaceutical world for me to try anymore lol.

Demerol is awesome IMO. I always get a rush of it coming on and enjoy the high while I can...usually I pass out. I've had it at the hospital in a pump and the pills. The pills are shit. I was taking up to 200mg with Vistaril 50-100mg and they didn't do a thing for the pain I was actually having.
 
Demerol is a strange one. It's nothing like other opiates. I would put it in the same category as tramadol, in terms of effects..

It makes me feel drunk and stimulated. It's less potent than hydrocodone, which is already weak, but preferable imo

I'd take it if there was nothing else around, but i'd never pay for it

Apparently some people love it
 
hye i got something someone caled demerol and its a smallll white pill with a R on one side, and a light score on the other.

can so one tell me more about this?
