Long-term tolerance to LSD?

I got into the habit of doing LSD every 3 weeks or so for the past year. I take about 5 hits each time (Hoffman 2000 and 2010). It seems to me the experiences aren't as awe-inspiring as the first were, the visuals aren't as spectacular (especially CEV)

I have several theories:

1). loss of potency due to non-optimal storage conditions (I don't refrigerate my hits).
2). inevitable loss of novelty or "psychological" tolerance
3). 3 weeks breaks isn't enough

OR (the point of this thread)

4). you develop a sort of long-term tolerance where doing regularly even spaced several weeks apart leads to diminuished experiences...

What do you think?

(I'm a bit afraid to take more because 5 hits involves a lot of anxiety/harsh come-up as it is)

I think number 4, last time we dropped hoffman acid we took 2 each after a longish break - I said "what do you reckon" - she said "clean but a ten strip might be more like it tho", says it all really.

I think you kinda build a semi perma tolerance IME, a break of a few years & you'll be good to go again - sad but true.

I'd go for the second one;
2). inevitable loss of novelty or "psychological" tolerance

This happens with most things. Upping the dose usually helps, though (even though I wouldn't consider that to be in the spirit of Harm Reduction ;) )

Well, I sort of agree with number three as well. Some of the novelty and excitement might return with a prolonged break from psychedelics in general (and LSD in particular).

2 and 4 taken...Ill go with 1

how long you been sitting on them?

I'm speaking generally, in fact, not about one particular batch.

Let's say in the past, my sheets would stay 2 or 3 months away from light and air BUT at room temperature before being completely consumed.

As for now, I bought a large quantity that was stored in the same condition for 3 weeks. But I will be able to refrigerate from now on .
Hope those 3 weeks at room temp didn't do too much damage...

its mostly air light and moisture u wana keep them away from room temp should be fine as long as you dont plan to store it that way for years

Are these the latest Hofmann 2010s? If so they are substantially weaker than the previous hofmann blotters.

I believe that you could have lost some potency due to poor long-term storage, however I am not sure on this as far as I was aware it wasn't a large deal.
Maybe you are having some sort of control with LSD, remember it isn't a chemical that should be abused, the same with all drugs. Although I could see maybe some sort of long-term tolerance build up with persistent use although maybe your just becoming more comfortable with your dosage.

Unfortunately, no one seems to agree on that...
That question has been haunting me.

Some will assure you they can keep LSD potent between the pages of a book for a year, others respond that LSD degrades very quickly when not refrigerated.

I read a study that showed acid is *more or less* stable at 25°C for a month. Beyond that, you can only guess and take your chances...

in between the pages of a book i wouldnt suggest, but in some tin foil in an airtight container put in a drawer should be fine, mine is in the fridge but AFAIK this method shouldnt be a problem for couple months

You need to space your trip :) Like me !

I know but it's very difficult for me to wait even 3 weeks... I'm kind of addicted.

It's 3 weeks from my last trip, and though I was planning to wait at least a month, I'm seriously tempted to trip tonight, especially since I'm going to have my first candyflip.

Had my first roll 9 days ago, and also I'm worried my serotonin levels aren't sufficiently replenished for me to have a proper roll. So I'll probably force myself to wait a few days (I read you can roll every 2-3 weeks or so when you're starting MDMA).

You are abusing LSD, if you even think you are addicted to a substance that isn't normally addicting that shows obvious abuse. You need to learn to space your trips out, otherwise there is nothing you can do to improve them.

also it sounds like you need a change in set/setting. what do you find yourself normally doing during a trip?

I thought about that too. Changing the setting CAN make it seem you're tripping harder than when you do it in an uninspiring or repetitive setting on the same dose.

When I said I was addicted, I was half-kidding. I do have trouble spacing my trip for more than 3 weeks, but I could if I really wanted to or if LSD wasn't giving me what I want anymore.

It's just that I really like it. It's like sex: you could live without it, but most people have to do it 2 or 3 times a week or so, just because it feels great.
But I agree that this is probably the reason why my trip aren't as profound as they used to be.

They definitely weren't 2010, I've found that LSD effects can become blunted/lessened with prlonged usuage. I quit for several years & found when I started again I was back to square one happy days - more years of regular LSD use had me back to square2 ( if you follow) so i stopped again for about ten years - tried acid again, fucking magic - I've been using it regularly for the last 5 years & I find it less effective also other people are saying certain prints are strong etc & we just find em to be nowhere near as strong as we'd like.
