Sorry if this is the wrong place for this, but does anybody have any experience taking St. John's Wort daily for depression/anxiety? I take it because I dont want to take an anti-depressant, and right now I just want something mild and natural. I'm thinking about trying something else. Has anyone had positive or negative results taking this daily?

Since taking it i have felt quite a bit better.. being able to completely stop my daily intake of SSRI's (40mg citalopram).. but that coincides with me starting to take phenibut 5days a week.. so?

St Johns Wort has been known to upregulate 5-ht (serotonin) receptors.. thats a good thing ;)

Maybe try some phenibut, but don't take too much (as your tolerance will sky rocket) and also be careful to take breaks.. in my case i dnt take it thursdays and fridays, then have a longer (a week or 2) break when the bottle runs out, as this can lead to physical withdrawal when you wanna not take it or you simply don't have any.

I advise getting 5-HTP instead of St Johns Wort. If you take a dopamine persecutor with it (also cheap) then you can take 5-HTP long-term. I've read studys where patients depression lifted within several days of taking it, some almost instantly.

... Doesn't really answer your question tho lol

I heard it's good as a natural anti-depressant, so I suggested it to a friend. The only negative side effect he got from it was a headache.

That's short term and will stop taking effect once dosing stops.. infact.. i think 5-HTP downregulates 5-ht receptors.. in which case you would be worse when you stopped than before you started.

St. John's Wort made me very tired when I tried it, so I never stuck with it. 5-HTP immediately made me feel better though, with no side-effects.

I've recently been doin the same thing, tryin to take St. Johns instead of SSRIs or any other pharm

i just started this week though and from what i have read it can take a few weeks before the effects truly become noticable, so we'll see how it goes
