My tinnitus has recently become really extreme and I decided to go talk to a doctor about it. I brought it down to extreme noise levels of all the gigs I've bee to and to idiocy of not wearing ear plugs whilst at work. The doctor then prescribed me clonazepam for objective tinnitus. My question is have any of yo fellow blue lighters and any personal dealings with such treatment or know of someoe who has? Also, what were the outcomes or other treatments experienced?

As a further note I went on to do some reading on what can cause it. Some things that maybe if interest include:
-diuretics
-5 meo dmt
-DiPT
-harmaline
-DMT
-psilocybin
-salvinorin A

for those that don't know, diuretics include things such as water, ethanol and MDMA just to name a few. Of course I understand that there are many factors that can contribute to my hearing loss but was considering whether it would be worth mentioning to the doctor the listed substances above which I take in excesive amounts.

IMHO tinnitus resolves itself . this from a geezer that wears hearing aids and had suffered serious hearing loss from unprotected hearing in the military, heavy industry and of course the music scene .
tinnitus was once a part of the roaring in my head but went it's way in my late 20's - never sought medical /

OP, we talked about this when I used to study audio... apparently for some people listening to white noise can help to relieve it, you may want to try this if it is really annoying your or affecting your life at certain times and you just want quiet.

Do you still hear the ringing? Just not as loud as it use to be? I seeked help because it's not assisting with my already problematic paranoia interventions whilst I'm trying to sleep

I've had tinnitus for 4 years, I got it first time i went out (Billbords in Melbourne). The Venue was so loud that i felt stabbing pains in my head. I didn't realize it was causing me damage at the time. I had the worst ringing in my ears for the next week in total before it went away. I had trouble hearing what people were saying even 4 days after the event. Ever since I've had small ringing in my hears that has built up over the years.
At times it is troubling going to bed because the ringing can become so extreme. If I sit there and listen to the ringing in my ears for a period of time, really focus on it, it makes me quite nauseas.

I have not gone to the doctors about this issue yet, I plan too soon. but all my research into the subject has told me that there is no 'cure' yet. I would advise against any online 'cure tinnitus with these pills!' schemes as I have heard that they are nearly all a scam.

What all I can suggest, is invest in a pair of custom made earplugs. I hear that ~-5 to -7db range earplugs on all frequencies are the best ones to get, but they will run you up between $200-300 depending where you look. I encourage everyone who is concenered about their ears to invest in some.

Unfortunately the only time people consider getting earplugs is when it's already too late and damage has been done.

I'm not sure if these are linked to Tinnitus directly, but I know for a fact that during these drugs (and others) you experience tinnitus like effects during the experience. But once the drugs have warn off i do not feel any residual tinnitus effects from them. I doubt they are related but might be. I think it is worth mentioning any drug concerns to your doctor if you trust that he understands these drugs. A lot of doctors tend to assume I am a drug addict and will withhold prescriptions from me based on the fact that I enjoy LSD once every 3 months.

Ive allways wanted to try acid but im afraid because of having tinnitus.
Im worried that the ringing in the background will start to annoy and then freak me out since I would be tripping so hard and then i would go into a terrible downward spiral.

How do you deal with it?

During LSD trips I dont get extreme flanging sounds or tinnitus, it's mostly during 2c-t-2 and 2c-e trips that it's quite intense. But even then it doesn't bother me, the visuals and mindfuck of hallucinogens is so amazing and breathtaking, that little things like tinnitus don't hold your attention. That's not to say they can't hold your attention. As long as you know that your tinnitus is there already and that after the trip it's going to be exactly the same as where it was before, then it wont make you go into a freaky trip.
You'll most likely be listening to awesome music while your tripping anyways because it sounds so amazing.

+1 to that. Damn all this talk of LSD is making me want to try high doses again, I mean I can appreciate low dose LSD for what it is and I like it, gives me energy, makes me really into conversations and lets me get into music and dance but I miss the really mind blowing, ego obliterating experiences that would make me feel like I was 5 years old again I've had single sugar cubes that did that but with the tabs I'm getting now I might have to eat a few to get those effects again but I'm not adverse to that 'cause I know that it's going to be great!

I've never gotten tinnitus off any drug, the only aural effects I've had are flanging from nitrous you know and when I do nitrous on LSD or 2C-x or DOx then the flanging can last a long time, sometimes the whole trip which goes on for hours after I might have finished off all the nitrous that was there! I wish I could get a tank of nitrous from the dentist and then I would do nitrous all the time but of course making sure I put plenty of oxygen into it so that I didn't die because that wouldn't be fun and a waste of money I guess OK I gotta go to my girlfriends now she just rang me and we are going to have a shower together. :D

^^^^ LMAO... Mr Blonde you kill it sometimes....

glad to hear you patched things up with your woman. ;)

anyway, I would be wary about mentioning drugs of any kind to your doc. While your excessive use of the aforementioned substances may have contributed somewhat to your loss of hearing, I doubt it would be the primary cause. On psychs, for me, the aural sense is usually the most acutely affected, so I don't try to overdo it for that reason.

I dated a guy once who had tinnitus, lol, from listening to heeeappps of loud music as a kid. He was/is a really batty dude. Apparently people with incurable tinnitus even commit suicide in some of the worst cases - let's just say there's no envy on my part!

^ Ha ha yeah midnight booty calls for the win I won't go into the details of it but hell yeah it was fun except she had already had a shower by the time I got there so I missed out on that, that was disappointing and I had to leave real early this morning to go to the doctors and get my script filled, not that I take it but you know I want everyone to think I do

About the doctor, yeah mos def don't mention your drug use unless you have to, I have a history of drug use on my file I shouldn't have told them about that but I did because I was very depressed and suicidal and was being honest and now look what they did to me! Especially if you ever want adequate pain relief prescriptions, sleeping pills or anxiety meds in the future don't mention the drug use.

Hyroller I am jealous of the aural effects you get of psychs al l I get is incerased appreciation of music I don't ever hear anything that's not there well I do sometimes when I'm sober but not on LSD or 2c-X or DOx or whatever

^^^^ It just refers to the amplification of sound... but yeah... it takes a LOT of psychs to get me seeing things, on the downside. :\

you should be taking your meds :| I will scold you more about this in TDS :\
