Whenever im done smoking, I sometimes sit down with my cat and she just rolls around all over the place and is just very relaxed. Does the smell get them high?

yes they are much more sensitive to cannabis than humans. a small amount of smoke will get her high, probably enough from all the smoke in the air

Yeah if they smell it enough, whenever I get high at home one of my cats always comes and just sits there and just meow around. I usually just blow some tokes at him then he shuts up and just chills out. Depends on the cat too, my other cats hate smoke. If your smoking a cigarette or weed in a room they usually just leave and go somewhere else

Definitely. I've gotten my cat high several times. He seems to like it. He always comes to my room when he smells reefer. :) He usually falls asleep or jumps into my lap.

It wouldn't be the smell. It would be the smoke. If you don't smoke in your room with your cat, then your cat is just playing.

Smell can't get you high. If it did, I would be blazed right now.:!

Why wouldn't it be the smell? They sure get off on smelling catnip. Have any of you guys ever let your cat smell valerian root?

THC needs to be heated up to get you high. If smell was what did it, you would get high from smelling a bag of weed, which unfortunately, doesn't happen.

You're assuming that the cat is getting high off of the THC though. They might not even be getting "high" really. I was proposing that there may be a chemical in the bud that might work similarly to how nepetalactone works in catnip.

If you were smoking in the same room as your cat and your cat was asically breathing in smoke containing THC it could get high.

Like people already mentioned..Simply smelling weed doesn't make animals or humans high.

The smell of weed might be a trigger for certain behaviors in individual cats, though.

+1 Damien, that was my first thought , it probably has the sam effect as catnip, cats go nuts for catnip[some do], come home the cats got your buds on the floor, rolling around in them...[yyuk, yuk..]there is also the good ol' lets get the pet stoned... I'd swear some enjoy it....Some dogs seem like they are smiling at times.....fun,fun,fun.....

No doubt I've gotten my cats High before.. Kept blowing the smoke in their faces and after I read online that it will actually effect them and effect them hard because they're really senesative to it.. I felt really bad though because they were deffanitly freaking out later.. Try not to get them too high

^LOL or try not to get them high at all....

I mean it's one thing if you're smoking and the cat comes over and starts chillin' around the smoke, but blowing it straight into their face or whatever is kind of obviously cruel. :\

Remember Pavlov's experiment? The cat can equate the smell of the pot to your being high, and mellowing out, and possibly being more attentive to the cat. If you are getting the cat high, that is something diffferent entirely.

My cat loves the herb, anytime I toke it's curled up in my lap purring like a kitten, I'll blow it a few tokes (in it's general direction) and it'll chill out, mow it's food and water, then pass out for a few hours and wake up with a bad case of pasties and usually kill it's whole water dish. Cute, I <3 my kitteh =D

I try not to smoke around my cat, but whenever I've just smoked she starts meowing and rolling all over my lap and sniffing me. so I think a lot of may like the smell. Also, if I leave a bowl out, she'll smell it, but won't eat any.

I also think this is part of it -

I looked up valerian, and found a spray, might get some for her. %)

Haha I didn't think it was actually gonna work..
I even think they were munchin' hard. I'll be more carefull with them next time... Or maybe try with my dog

haha what! I didn't know this, I am so going to smoke up with my cat.
Is it cruel though>? I really can't imagine something saying that cannabis is bad for them.
