I haven't really ever grown any MJ but i am thinking about growing some sometime soon. I can't grow outdoor because of bugs (grasshoppers are a bunch of lil bitches as are moths) and mold problems. So i'm lookin to grow a couple plants inside. I was wondering if some of ya'll more experienced growers would be willing to help me out? I'm really not sure where to start, idk what i need to get to keep the plants alive or healthy. Some help would really be appreciated.

soil, sunshine, and water and love.

thats all ya really need man.

CD aint really a grow forum, but check out icmag.com ;)

get planting soon before you miss the season!
(outdoors is a LOT less hassle and a LOT less expensive)

There are tons of books on this and websites dedicated to it...you sound like you need to research around a little more. I tend to make comments about how it would be nice to have a cute lil pot plant next to my bamboo, but realistically growing pot indoors is very expensive (need lights and a whole bunch of other crap) and the smell is quite strong, I've known people with just a few plants and their entire house reeked.

Anyway, there are beginners guides out there somewhere...and as Sega said, growing outside takes little effort, although with any plant there are risks of insects/weather/etc and you may not get anything out of it.

^neem oil, neem cake, ladybugs, and chicken mesh are ALL a guerella gardener's best friend.

oh, and fishing hooks on fishing line, dangling down about eye level, spaced out in the
treelines around your grow area ;)

cant be too careful

Where are you (general region is OK) and how much are you willing to spend? How much space do you have, how private is it, how well ventilated and powered is it?

I second the recommendation for icmag.com, but you can find reasonable help here if you're more specific.

i'm in georgia USA, i live alone, i rarely have anyone over, but there is a military base nearby so there are heilos and c130's flyin by alot. also i live by 2 airports as well. so basically i need to do this inside. i am willing to spend a fair amount on this (under 1k if possible) and i have a well vent shed that i can use that gets a good amount of light. i'm not looking to grow alot, just enough for me to enjoy some home grown.

^Cool, you should be able to do it no problem. Since you're in GA, a non-medical state, it would be against the rules of Bluelight for anyone to actually give you a step-by-step guide, since we'd be helping you break the law... (should'a just said "the south" lol). But you'll find everything you need over at icmag.com
The first thing you'll need to do is find seeds or clones and build your grow room. Start by using black and white poly-plastic to lightproof the space you'll be using and installing adequate airflow. You'll want the white side from the plastic facing your plants and the entire room's air circulated once every few minutes. You can buy most of the stuff you'll need for that at Home dePot. Next you'll need an HID lighting system or some good CFL's. HID systems are much better suited for growing...

but, I've said enough. get started on that and check out icmag.com

It really isn't as hard or as complicated as it seems. Care for your plants just as you would, say a tomato plant. In fact..

Growing right next to tomato plants in my aero garden

I grew 1/4 lb. For four or five years, Deep water culture, really the best bang for your buck, there are many diffrent methods, but if you are growing indoors hydro is where its at, think of how much soil you would throw away. With hydro you can just dump the waste down the drain. Well as for advice I have one VERY good piece of it: Loose lips sink ships. TELL NO ONE. Good luck!

There is no medical states in "the south"...go figure huh

I'm the one who asked him the question, too... lol. But the ambiguity leaves space, yet still let's us think about problems he could run into due to environment.

-Start with CFLs (Comfpact Fluorescent Lights). They're cheap and almost all hardware stores sell them. They don't put out a lot of heat, and they're small. These are why they're good for beginners. No need to spend over 100 dollars on a light if it's your first time. You'll want to get about 5000 lumens per plant (though more is better) in the veg stage. This is good enough for the flowering stage, but many people use 10,000, as this is the most crucial part of growing.

-Avoid Miracle Gro, since it contains time release chemicals. This raises the pH and can shock the plants or even kill them.

-Transplanting will shock your plants and slow down growth. To avoid this, grow your seedlings in a plastic or paper cup. Then, instead of digging it out, cut the sides of the cup down from the rim to the bottom, so it just falls apart. Then just take the cup shaped dirt, and put it in a bigger pot in fresh soil. This doesn't shock the plant, so it keeps on growing.

-Don't tell anyone. This is just dumb, but so many growers I know do this. People talk. Not only do you run the risk of someone going to the cops, you run the risk of getting robbed. You can't go to the police, obviously. What's worse, they might kill you if they find you home. So just keep quiet and don't show them to anyone and don't tell anyone, even your best friends.

-Use a spray bottle to water them, since this eliminates the risk of you accidentally spilling too much water and flooding the plants. This also is a much better way to give water evenly to the plant.

-Marijuana is a weed, hence the nickname. Weeds grow fast and tall. You may see growth every single day. Because of this, you need to constantly check the distance between the lights and the plants. If the lights are too close, they can burn the plants. Keep CFLs 2-3 inches away from the top of the plants.

-Adding too many nutrients will raise the pH and could kill your plants.

Any other questions? PM me and I can give you a lot more information.
