From The Columbia Tribune

A man whose home Columbia police raided in February on a narcotics search warrant has pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge and is contemplating a civil action against the department for shooting his two dogs during the raid.

Jonathan E. Whitworth, 25, of 1501 Kinloch Court entered into a plea agreement with the state to drop charges of possession of marijuana and second-degree child endangerment for a guilty plea to possession of drug paraphernalia.

Investigators believed Whitworth was in possession of a large amount of marijuana and was considered a distributor, Deputy Chief Tom Dresner said in February. Police, who found a grinder, a pipe and a small amount of marijuana, shot two dogs upon entering Whitworth’s home around 8:30 p.m. Feb. 11.

Click the link to watch the video. Fucking heartbreaking, I can't believe they killed 2 dogs over such a fucking insignificant amount of pot, pipe and grinder.

(EDIT) I found out that one of the dogs was a Corgis, from this article.

This is what a corgis looks like

How can police justify shooting such a small animal. They are a small breed, there's no way it posed any danger to the police, especially due to the fact that they were in fucking riot gear.

America, the....

Beautiful?

Wait. Something about liberty and happiness.

Oh, never mind. That must be another country I am thinking of.

.....

Front page material, admins?

That's part of "shock and awe" psyops to make your victims compliant. What a fucked up country. Glad I left. It's ironic that he was charged with child endangerment. The storm troopers are the ones who endangered children and likely scarred them emotionally for life by this violent nightmare.

Quoted for fucking truth.

They shot a corgi? Seriously? I hope that cop never sleeps well again.

i watched the video first and read the article 2nd. ^first thing that popped into my head when i read what they dropped.

sad video. you could tell in the video those police were not pleased with themselves. for a second i almost thought they were gonna apologize to him about the dog, to get him to calm down and what not. probably part of their training never to do that, looks bad in court.

edit:it's crazy how whiny his initial reaction is. over personal marijuana, people just flashbanged, shoot-up, and raided his house, and all in the presence of his wife and child. then they force him into physical submission at gunpoint, and his reaction is a drawn out "OMG!" There are a lot of different reactions i could understand, but that one was pretty wild. but then he starts to truly cry, and it's like, "damn."

Home of the brave. Right.

I was thinking about getting a collie, but not anymore. Now I am getting a doberman. Give the idiots a real reason to shoot, since they are going to anyway.

pig is too good of a word. pigs are cute and cuddly. They should be able to roam the open fields and be happy. these people are pure haters. babylon will fall. I feel sorry for this family and their poor dog. this is ridiculous.

Awe, that corgis doggie couldnt hurt a fly. The damn cops in the US are on a frigging power trip- all of them.
Tsk- all for pot. Just pot.
Poor kids.

"He's Commin Right For Us!"

Obviously a viscous rabid beast that could have easily sheared through their full body armor with his razor sharp teflon coated cop-killer teeth. They had no choice but to unload full-auto into the threat to protect themselves.

I hope everyone here posts this article and video to their facebooks or whatever they may have.

Do you have a story of police killing your dog? Do you want to tell your story on NORML SHOW LIVE? You can remain anonymous and it only takes a ten minute phone call. Contact me at [email protected].

NORML is gathering stories about all these sick killings of family pets. I don't think there is a US user on this board who hasn't heard of at least one of these dog murders occurring in their local papers. I say take advantage of the social networking sites and try to get your friends to share with theirs, there's no shortage of victims out there, now is their chance to be heard en masse.

Try to get the word out, enough is enough, this is disgusting behavior and it's happening all the time. Over HARMLESS PLANTS!

i have no respect for any law enforcement officers that do this kinda shit. the only good one is one that has quit. I can't believe they did this for a fucking grinder and a pipe. this is so ridiculous its insane...i can't believe this shit. i hope all those cops that are on swat teams and shit and have done stuff like this have brain aneurysms

This is the craziest example of excessive force ever.

And it's being recorded by one of the cops for later training purposes.

Imagine the generation of cops to come.

COLUMBIA | The Columbia police chief said Monday his officers will follow tighter rules for serving drug search warrants after a video showing the shooting death of a suspected dealer’s dog got widespread attention on the Internet.

The Columbia Police Department has been besieged by criticism from some people who saw a video of a February raid in which SWAT team officers shot and killed a pit bull.

The dog’s owner was arrested on misdemeanor marijuana charges while his wife and 7-year-old son watched. Police said they had been tipped he had felony quantities of “high-grade” marijuana.

The Columbia Daily Tribune posted a police video of the raid on its Web site May 3. By Monday, the video had logged nearly 900,000 hits on YouTube.

The new policy requires:

•Higher-ranking police captains to approve drug search warrants rather than narcotics sergeants or SWAT commanders.

•Police to consider whether the presence of children should curtail a raid.

•The department to serve warrants sooner after a judge signs them.

They waited eight days after obtaining a warrant to search 25-year-old Jonathan Whitworth’s home. He pleaded guilty last week to possession of drug paraphernalia.
