So I will soon have access to an unlimited supply of Seroquel. From what I have read some people claim it can be very recreational while others tell me to stay away from it. Thoughts or opinions on this drug?

Sure if you want an unlimited supply of sleep. It has zero rec value.. helps for amp or coke comedowns though.. Other than that it's junk. There's no "why not if there's not anything else"... jesus fuck.. would you take anti biotics cause there's nothing else?

no one considers it recreational. my buddy was scripted it for a while but just went off it and is quite pleased about this. i heard, if you are prison, it makes it so you can forget about the internal bleeding and just sleep. so, i guess if you are in prison it might be worth something. or if you suffering from mental illness.

haven't ever taken it myself though.

Worthwhile as a consistent "ejection seat" to have on hand while tripping if you just want it to end already. Other than that, not a lot going for it.

If you can get an endless supply of Seroquel and you have to take it for a mental health issue then you'll be set; that shit's expensive! Otherwise, it's useless. You could take them for sleep depending on what dosage the pills are, but there are much better sleep medications out there. Seroquel is a major tranquilizer designed to treat bipolar disorder and other mental health issues. I'm not sure it's good to take Seroquel unless you need to.

Trying to take it rec is pointless, but there's no risk to it. Seroquel is actually a pretty clean drug, especially versus other antispychotics. Lowest risk of tardive dyskinesia of the antipsychotics, most sedating with the benefit of having a paradoxical effect of not being sedating at higher doses, a wider use range where it can be used for depression, anxiety, insomnia off label and not just bi-polar/schizo. Actually has an XR version. Great for comedowns too, and pretty damn effective in general.

I know there are some nasty trip reports floating around about taking Seroquel to end an acid/shrooms trip, an alternative is probably better. Prefer benzos to Seroquel to any trip for safety/comfort and Seroquel to benzos for crashes/comedowns because I'll just fall asleep and won't waste benzos.

Nasty, dirty and absolutely no rec value!

All antipsychotics are nasty, many are dirty, Seroquel less so. Yeah don't bother trying to take it recreationally. If you're an addict or something and you're out of w/e and can't get more soon enough take some Seroquel to sleep until you can, same applies if you're bored or depressed and want a fix..

BTW lucid dreams/trippy dreams on seroquel = TOTALLY recreational ;)

yea, unscheduled and super fucking marketed. there are even advertisements for it on TV now. relative to first generation antipsychotics it may not as damaging, but it is not something you want to take unless you need it. It being used for anxiety, depression, and as a sleep aid is just absurd, in most cases. I am sure there are exceptions to that, but this shit is over scripted. 2nd gen. antipsychotics in general are. there just are not enough patients for on-label use of these atypicals, so those companies are funding research like crazy trying to get docs to use them for other issues. it seems like there is a push to get them scripted to kids these days too, but i am saying that because of a Rolling Stone article and a single documentary i saw, so i do not know how common that really is or how motivated these big pharm companies really are to get misbehaving 6-year olds on their atypicals. though, i can believe they want any market they can get. fuck yea big business.

I too have an "unlimited supply" of Seroquel. I get it prescribed and it's funded by the government in my country. But it's a medication and has absolutely no recreational value as everyone else has already said. Unless you consider being heavily sedated recreational...

From personal experience, Seroquel was somewhat of a lifesaver for me. This is not really an exaggeration. I got into a cycle of up 24-48 hours, sleep 6-8 hours, repeat, for a long time. Appetite was killed, got even more depressed when I was already on antidepressants. I found a very intelligent psychiatrist who opted to try Seroquel, I hadn't actually heard of it until he mentioned it. The first night I took it I slept beautifully, and on 50mg, the 2nd lowest dose. It's been years since then and I've been able to sleep without it some nights, and 50mg works as well as the first time. I also started the XR version around the time it was released, which was extremely helpful to some of my anxiety, and while it flattened me emotionally, this was better than being severely depressed. Stopped taking it a while after I started Effexor XR and I prefer that a lot more because I'm not impervious to sadness AND happiness but I'm receptive to both normally (what I equate to normal is what I was like before depression/anxiety/stuff).

So I'm probably very biased. Still, according to a lot of people it's helpful during comedowns (is for me too), is absolutely amazing for WDs and will put you to sleep even if it's not in a comfortable way if you need it. It's in the beginners thread or somewhere along with trazadone.

Edit: and yea I agree it is a COMPLETELY sicko thing to market antipsychs to kids let alone a parent giving their kid any form of an antipsychotic. Unless the kid has childhood schizophrenia, where its completely justifiable.

^glad it worked for you. I said and figured there were surely exceptions, just that it is also over scripted. though its help with comedowns does not really weigh in on its outpatient therapeutic value.

Seroquel is nothing to mess around with recreationally - it's extremely hardcore and you will pass out if you take anything more than a normal dose. Cage-rat's post was a very good example on how some substances are very beneficial to some, but if taken over the limit you will be in trouble.

Its definitely not something thats "fun".
